Trump makes worrying prediction about Jake Paul during joint appearance at administration rally
President Donald Trump has sparked debate after predicting that social media star and boxer Jake Paul could soon enter politics. The comments came during Trump’s March 11 rally in Kentucky, where the 29-year-old influencer and fighter made an appearance.
Trump used the moment to publicly back Paul, suggesting the outspoken internet personality could pursue elected office in the future. The remark immediately raised questions about whether the prediction should be taken seriously or viewed as another bold statement from the former president.
Paul already has a large public profile as a boxer, podcaster, entrepreneur, and former Disney Channel actor. His growing involvement in business and sports promotion has kept him in headlines, and Trump’s endorsement added another unexpected twist to his already unusual career path.
Trump makes bold political prediction
During the rally, Trump singled out Paul and made a confident prediction about his future in public life.
“I just want to say I predict, I'm going to make a prediction, that you will be in the not too distant future, running for political office, OK. And you have my complete and total endorsement, OK?’’
Trump’s statement adds Paul to a list of public figures who moved from entertainment into politics. Former professional wrestling star Jesse Ventura was elected governor of Minnesota in 1999, while bodybuilder and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger became governor of California in 2003.
Paul appeared receptive to the praise and referenced Trump while addressing the crowd in Kentucky.
"What Mr. Trump has taught me is courage," Paul said. "You know, we never backed down from a fight, even if they're much bigger than you, much, much bigger than you. And I feel all the local Kentuckians feel the same way."
Trump’s praise for Paul draws mixed reactions
Trump described Paul as courageous, a claim that is difficult to dispute, considering the risks he has taken in the boxing ring.
In December, the 6-foot Paul fought 6-foot-6 British boxer Anthony Joshua, a two-time former heavyweight champion. The fight ended badly for Paul. He suffered a knockout loss, was knocked down four times, and left the ring with his jaw broken in two places.
Despite the injury, Paul has said he plans to return to boxing once his jaw heals.
Trump also praised Paul as talented. Paul previously worked as a Disney Channel actor from 2005 to 2007 and later built a massive audience on YouTube through prank videos and online content. He also co-founded Most Valuable Promotions, a company that has helped boost women’s professional boxing and partnered with Netflix on Paul’s fight with Tyson and other high-profile events.
Questions remain about Paul’s political future
Trump also called Paul “a hell of a fighter,” though that description has been debated. Paul holds a 12-2 boxing record with seven knockouts, and many of his earlier wins came against older MMA fighters, a retired NBA player, a YouTuber, and an aging Mike Tyson.
While Paul has found success building a brand around boxing and entertainment, a political career remains uncertain.
Still, the speculation has already started. During the recent Winter Olympics, Paul attended a women’s hockey game where he happened to be seated next to Vice President JD Vance. The moment has fueled playful talk about possible political partnerships in the future.
Whether that means a Vance-Paul ticket in the 2028 election cycle or something else entirely remains unknown. For now, Trump’s prediction has simply added another unexpected possibility to Jake Paul’s career.
