White House provides explanation after unusual rash on Donald Trump's neck sees fresh health questions raised
The White House has spoken out after an unusual rash on Donald Trump's neck sparked health concerns.
During the Medal of Honor Ceremony on Monday (March 2), the 79-year-old president was seen with a reddish spot just above the collar of his shirt, extending slightly beneath his ear.
Trump’s personal doctor, Dr. Sean Barbabella, clarified that the rash was the result of a “preventative skin treatment” that the president has been using for the past week.
“President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment,” he said in a statement. “The president is using the treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.”
The doctor did not specify the exact nature of the cream or why it was needed.
Trump Seen With Bruises Last Year
This latest incident follows a pattern of health-related concerns surrounding the president.
Last August, Trump's right hand appeared visibly bruised as he signed executive orders in the Oval Office and later during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
The dark bruise stretched across the back of his hand, and at times, he tried to cover it with his left.
Barbabella said the bruises are “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen,” adding: “This is a well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy," per BBC News.
The doctor also disclosed that Trump has chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a “benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70," Forbes reported.
Tests showed no sign of a more serious illness like deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized: “There have been no adjustments made to his lifestyle.”
Trump Contradicts Military Timeline
President Trump abruptly left the Medal of Honor ceremony without taking any questions from the press.
At one point, he went off-topic to talk about his controversial ballroom development, saying: "See that nice drape? When it comes down, you'll see a deep hole, but in about a year and a half, you'll see a beautiful building.
"And that’s your entrance right there. It looks so nice, I might leave it and save money on the doors. I picked those drapes. I’ve always liked gold. I believe it will be the most beautiful ballroom in the world," he added.
He also addressed the ongoing military action against Iran, dubbed "Operation Epic Fury," which led to the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
While War Secretary Pete Hegseth stated the operation would end within weeks, the president indicated that the US was prepared to extend the mission if needed.
“Right from the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have the capabilities to go far longer than that. We’ll do it," he said, per Daily Beast. "Somebody said today, they said: ‘Oh, well, the president wants to do it really quickly; after that, he’ll get bored.' I don’t get bored.
"There’s nothing boring about this… No, I don’t get bored. I never get bored," he added.
