Woman who claims she came back from the dead after being poisoned by her husband shares what she saw in heaven
Ana Christina, a mom and wife, claims that her husband tried to murder her and that she subsequently came back from the dead.
The California native says that the horrifying situation led to a divine encounter with the Holy Spirit, altering her perception of the afterlife.
Aged 49 at the time, she told the Daily Mail that she filed for divorce from her husband, 'Sam', back in December 2008, but forgot to cancel her million-dollar life insurance policy.
Ana claimed that this was the motivation that caused her husband to try to take her life just weeks afterward.
The victim has changed both her and her children's names to protect their identities, as she claimed that Sam started lacing her coffee with rat poison.
This resulted in her feeling increasingly sick until she woke up paralyzed on January 9, 2009.
Ana Christina recalls 'encounter' with Jesus
While laying motionless, Ana said that Jesus came to her bedroom to bring her to the afterlife and reunite her with Nadia, her late sister, in heaven.
Ana was relieved, as she didn't know where Nadia would end up after taking her life at the age of 35, due to the Catholic Church's teachings about suicide, where it is described as an 'unforgivable sin'.
Somehow, after returning from the afterlife hours later, Ana said she was cured of the poisoning, leading Sam to flee the US in shock.
Police chose not to investigate her claims.
Speaking to the publication, Ana said it was a 'blessing in disguise' that her ex-husband fled.
"Because if he had done time for an attempted murder... he would have gotten about 10 years. And then, he would be out in the streets, taking revenge," she explained.
"But (with) him fleeing the country and being away, I don't have to live watching my back."
Ana, who was the breadwinner when she and Sam agreed to split up, forgot to take him off as the beneficiary of her life insurance policy after signing the paperwork for their divorce.
She claims that this is when he started scheming to kill her, saying: "I believe he started putting it in my coffee every day.
"Little by little, that's how I didn't notice, and that's when my body started to break down. I started getting sick, and I had to stay at home for a long time."
Ana booked a flight in 2009 upon learning that her brother overseas had fallen ill, but before she left, Sam made her favorite meal and allegedly laced it with copious amounts of poison.
This led to her paralysis, as she recalled the pain feeling like a sledgehammer breaking her bones.
Ana's new relationship with God
The mom said that she heard a clear divine voice while paralyzed, which told her she was dying but it was not the end of the road.
She said that the next morning, Sam tried to force Xanax down her throat past her locked throat, as she remained unable to move.
When she saw Jesus and saw her parents and Nadia, she sensed no darkness or an impending ending.
She told the Mail: "You know, God is a very compassionate God, a very loving God that understands what we go through and does not judge us the way we judge each other.
"He's a very compassionate Lord, and he knew what Nadia was going through."
While her family tried to bring her to a banquet in the afterlife, she was pulled back down to Earth, where she used hand gestures to show Sam that she knew what he did.
Ana and her children have since moved on from the harrowing situation, while she admitted that the experience altered her relationship with God.
"I was actually a born-again Christian before my encounter. But I was nothing like what I am now," the mom stated.
In the years since, Ana set up her own ministry in Africa and wrote about the incident in 'My Sweet Encounter With Death, with all proceeds going towards that church.
