A woman who tragically died while stranded in her car during the winter storm in Buffalo over the Christmas weekend was only six minutes away from home.
Anndel Taylor, 22, was traveling home from work on December 23 when the wintery conditions left her stranded and unable to move from her location.
Taylor's mother, Wanda Browne Steele, revealed to WSOC that her daughter had phoned 911 but after no help arrived, she intended to sleep in her car and walk home the following morning.
She had also initially kept her family up to date with the increasingly extreme weather conditions, but they became frantic when her messages stopped.
Watch one of Taylor's final videos below:Browne Steele believes that Taylor passed away due to carbon monoxide poisoning rather than freezing to death, as her engine was left on to heat the car but the increasingly deep snow ended up covering the exhaust, leaving the vehicle unable to expel the hazardous fumes.
Speaking to the New York Post, Brown Steele explained that her daughter was not answering calls or messages the following morning but her phone could still be tracked to the car.
A family friend went out to check but didn't believe anyone could be in the car, but on the third time venturing out, they smashed the window to discover Taylor's body inside the vehicle.
New details have emerged about the tragedy, as CNN reports that Taylor left the senior citizen center where she was working, and became stranded just six minutes away from her home.
Taylor remained in constant contact with her family throughout the ordeal, and in a group chat with her sisters she detailed how she was losing her patience.
After a few hours of waiting to be rescued, Taylor conceded: "It looks like I'm going to sleep here. I don't know how long this gas will last. I'm livid bro my door damn near covered."
"They [the police] don't gaf (give a f**k) man. I'm talking to them now so I know how to go about the night... If the car stay running in the morning I'm going to walk, snow at my thighs," she continued.
The final message she sent before passing away was an image of the snow that she explained was up to her stomach line.
Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the tragedy.
