Following Brad Pitt’s shock admission that he has very much fallen off the wagon after seven years of sobriety, UFC star, Conor McGregor has cheekily quipped online in “support” of the actor.
In a recent interview with Esquire, the Curious Case of Benjamin Button star revealed that he was back drinking again, but in a more "restrained", and less destructive manner.
Discussing his sobriety, Pitt said: "No, I got— I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon," he said, explaining that he drinks "in a more restrained manner" now.
While his sobriety has now been broken, Pitt revealed that on occasion he "got overconfident," drank too much, and realized that it was "not good" for him.
He explained: "I can have a few [glasses of wine]. But I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it."
Discussing his road to recovery, Pitt attended AA meetings, revealing that everyone in attendance was "so open," which allowed him to be "at ease" with his own vulnerability.
Continuing, Pitt said: "It gives you permission in a way to go, 'OK, I’m gonna step out on this edge and see what happens.
“I just thought it was just incredible men sharing their experiences, their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humor with it. I thought it was a really special experience."
While it appeared McGregor had recently quit drinking, the Irish fighter posted on X, claiming that Pitt’s announcement had “decided to have a few pints of the World’s Creamiest Stout @ForgedStout” in “support” of his “fellow actor” Pitt.
McGregor then followed up the original post, with a video of him pouring a can of his personally-owned Forged Stout into a glass, accompanied by the caption: "This one's for you, Mucker!"
The UFC star wished Pitt the best, and encouraged his followers to drink responsibly when consuming his 4.2% beverage.
Like Pitt, McGregor has also become a famous boozer, often turning to the bottle after fights, and enjoying the party lifestyle that comes with his profile.
McGregor, who lost his comeback fight against Max Holloway in July, had spoken openly about the temptation of alcohol, and blamed his whiskey brand for being part of the reason he was drinking.

Angelina Jolie admitted that she wasn't taken aback upon hearing that ex-husband Brad Pitt was no longer sober.
The Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood star shocked fans this week with news that he was no longer sober after seven years of avoiding drink.
Pitt began his sobriety journey after splitting from Jolie, as he was accused of pouring alcohol on her and their children during a fight on board a private jet in 2016, a claim he has since denied.
The 62-year-old previously revealed that he was working on battling his demons at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and that he was done with drinking for good.
But now, he has said in an interview with Esquire UK released on Monday (August 10) that this is no longer the case.
In fact, he admitted that he had 'gotten back off the wagon.'

The divorce between the pair took eight years to settle, with things left on a more than sour note, with many of the couple's children since choosing to drop his last name.
A source close to Jolie has now commented on the situation, telling Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice column following Pitt's admission: "Angelina is not surprised. She tried to warn people. She knew this was always a possibility."
They added that the actress had 'long believed that sobriety did not necessarily mean the underlying problems [Brad had] had disappeared.'
"She doesn’t believe Brad has fundamentally changed. She believes Brad is who Brad is, and no amount of sobriety or reinvention changes that," the source claimed.
Speaking to Esquire, he revealed he had gotten 'back off the wagon' as the interviewer noticed the actor had offered him a glass of wine.
The interviewer asked if the drink was for guests, but Pitt revealed: "No, I got - I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon," letting out a laugh.
He admitted: "In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, 'Yep, nope, not good for me.' Not in big quantities."
The 62-year-old admitted that he can now 'have a few' glasses of wine, but he cannot take it any further than that.
He added: "Yeah. Well... I can have a few. But I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it."
Esquire's profile said of the actor: "He likes mornings now anyway, and you can miss a lovely morning when you drink too much the night before, and it’s just not as interesting."
"Mornings are interesting, and he doesn’t want any more of them to go by unseen," the publication wrote.
Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor provoked disquiet on social media after CCTV footage emerged of him allegedly punching a man in a pub earlier this year.
The incident in question shows McGregor engaging in an altercation with another customer while drinking in Marble Arch pub in Drimnagh, South Dublin, in April of 2019. According to a report by TMZ, McGregor attacked the middle-aged man when he refused to drink a shot of McGregor's own brand of Proper Twelve whiskey.

After striking the man, two other people pulled McGregor out of the pub and out into the street. He is now reportedly facing a minor assault charge.
Now, another bar owner has reacted with outrage to the incident by making a public protest on social media: namely by filming himself pouring McGregor's signature drink down the toilet of his establishment.
In a Facebook post, Sean Rice, owner of the Salty Shamrock bar in Florida, states that McGregor is: "not a true representative of the Irish people," before proceeding to flush several bottles of liquor down a toilet bowl.

Pointing to a picture of McGregor hanging over the lavatory, Rice can be heard stating: "That's the lowlife there that we've all supported ... All right guys, get that in the toilet, cause that's where his whiskey belong right now. Proper Number Twelve; to hell with it. It will never be sold at this bar."
Per British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, the 50-year-old victim of McGregor claims that he doesn't want an apology or financial compensation, merely justice. A friend of his allegedly told the paper: "He was having his pint when McGregor came in and offered everyone a drink of his whiskey."
He continued: "Conor insisted he take it and when he refused a second time McGregor wasn’t impressed. Next thing he punched him in the side of the face. He didn’t feel the pain of it at the time but the next day he was in bits. It was a proper hard hit. His face was very sore. He was very shaken by the whole thing and didn’t leave his house for days. [sic]"

Commenting on the incident in an interview with TMZ Sports, UFC president Dana White stated: "You’re talking about a pub in Ireland. Know how many guys get punched in the face every day in a pub in Ireland? Yeah, a lot."
White added: "But, this is a high-profile guy. The bottom line is when you’re not a regular guy, you’re a high-profile guy, and you’re a professional fighter, you can’t do it. That you can’t do. When you’re Conor McGregor, you can’t do it."
McGregor has been summoned to Dublin District Court.
Conor McGregor has revealed the full extent of the injury that ended his UFC comeback fight within two minutes.
The controversial fighter shared an update online after he was forced to withdraw from his fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in Las Vegas on July 11.
The 38-year-old Irish fighter is always at the center of some controversy, from allegations and judgments of sexual abuse against women, his substance misuse problems, and his injury problems.
His return to the octagon for a recent UFC event was already one that divided opinion, not least because he hadn’t fought in a long time.
In the end, it was all a bit of an anticlimax anyway as his return lasted around 90 seconds before he was forced to retire and the victory was awarded to his opponent.
Not before McGregor earned a staggering sum of money for his time, though.
After the fight, the Dublin-born grappler said that he would recover and attempt to fight again, with many questioning his recent record and some suggesting he should quit the fight game altogether.
Now, he’s revealed the extent of the injuries that he suffered during the aborted bout against Holloway, and it seems as if it could be a long time before he is fit to take anyone on again.
Sharing an update on X, Mac said: “It was acl and meniscus. It is the same injury as the first Holloway fight, only this time the opposite leg.
"Quite shocking. I returned to competition within 9 months to fight Diego Brandao back then.
“With today’s regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods it is well within my realm to return by next summer.
"I am walking without a crutch.
"I done leg extension machine work the other day to no issue.
"So I can walk without aid, and activate my quad under resistance.
"All very positive. I am maximum discipline and have maintained it fully since the bout.”
It remains to be seen whether he will manage to stick to that recovery plan, but McGregor was philosophical about his strife, claiming he has actually been ’saved from something worse’ by his injury.
He continued: "I would have attended the after party as 'the man' and who knows then. I believe I was saved,

“On we go, no sad stories. Thank you for the support and well wishes everyone, your health is your wealth.”
This update came after some speculation that he had been injured heading into the fight, but wanted to pick up the payday regardless.
In the immediate aftermath of the fight, he wrote: "My head gasket is gone. Destroyed.
"I had no injury / injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight.
"This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell.”
That fight was his first in five years and his third loss on the spin, leading some to question his future in the MMA world.
It remains to be seen whether he will manage to bounce back from this one, and - for many - whether he should.
An Irish bar in the state of Florida has blacklisted the MMA star, Conor McGregor, and his line of alcoholic beverages, following allegations that he got violent with a stranger in the Mable Arch pub, Dublin, on the 6th of April this year.
Staff at the Salty Shamrock went so far as to pour bottles of McGregor's whisky down the toilet, and flush it down the drain.
This comes after a video, which has been doing the rounds on social media, reportedly showed the former Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight engaging in an altercation with another customer while drinking in the pub.
Per TMZ Sports, McGregor allegedly punched the elderly man after he refused to drink a round of drinks that he had bought customers in the establishment. The victim declined a shot of McGregor's signature single malt, Proper Twelve, twice, before McGregor purportedly lost his temper and hit him

Manager of the Salty Shamrock, Sean Rice, took to Facebook to condemn McGregor's alleged behaviour. "Official Notice: Due to the recent cowardly and appalling behavior of the so-called Irish professional fighter Conor McGregor, the Salty Shamrock Irish Pub will no longer carry his product nor associate its business with his name," he wrote.
"We will discard his whiskey in a fashion that's only fitting to his behavior. I challenge every Irish bar owner to do the same! He is not a true representative of the Irish people."
This was accompanied by a Facebook Live which showed staff pouring several bottles of McGregor's whiskey, Proper Twelve, down the toilet.

UFC boss, Dana White, recently issued comment on the purported incident. Speaking on The Jim Rome Show earlier this week, White asserted: "That happened in April. I knew that happened; they just got the video. It's pretty bad."
"Not allegedly, it's pretty clear [it's him]. So, apparently this was in a pub in Ireland and it was an argument over whiskey. Conor has a whiskey now and it was an argument over the whiskey and Conor reaches out and hits him with a left hook. I don't know the context of it. I don't know the entire story, but he punches a guy, an older man, in the face."
