Angelina Jolie admitted that she wasn't taken aback upon hearing that ex-husband Brad Pitt was no longer sober.
The Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood star shocked fans this week with news that he was no longer sober after seven years of avoiding drink.
Pitt began his sobriety journey after splitting from Jolie, as he was accused of pouring alcohol on her and their children during a fight on board a private jet in 2016, a claim he has since denied.
The 62-year-old previously revealed that he was working on battling his demons at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and that he was done with drinking for good.
But now, he has said in an interview with Esquire UK released on Monday (August 10) that this is no longer the case.
In fact, he admitted that he had 'gotten back off the wagon.'

The divorce between the pair took eight years to settle, with things left on a more than sour note, with many of the couple's children since choosing to drop his last name.
A source close to Jolie has now commented on the situation, telling Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice column following Pitt's admission: "Angelina is not surprised. She tried to warn people. She knew this was always a possibility."
They added that the actress had 'long believed that sobriety did not necessarily mean the underlying problems [Brad had] had disappeared.'
"She doesn’t believe Brad has fundamentally changed. She believes Brad is who Brad is, and no amount of sobriety or reinvention changes that," the source claimed.
Speaking to Esquire, he revealed he had gotten 'back off the wagon' as the interviewer noticed the actor had offered him a glass of wine.
The interviewer asked if the drink was for guests, but Pitt revealed: "No, I got - I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon," letting out a laugh.
He admitted: "In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, 'Yep, nope, not good for me.' Not in big quantities."
The 62-year-old admitted that he can now 'have a few' glasses of wine, but he cannot take it any further than that.
He added: "Yeah. Well... I can have a few. But I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it."
Esquire's profile said of the actor: "He likes mornings now anyway, and you can miss a lovely morning when you drink too much the night before, and it’s just not as interesting."
"Mornings are interesting, and he doesn’t want any more of them to go by unseen," the publication wrote.

The Maria star claimed her savings were tied up in the winery and that she hadn’t asked Pitt for alimony or financial support, choosing instead to take two years off work to focus on her children’s recovery.
“I was also very concerned about the health of our children,” she said, noting that Pitt allegedly agreed to loan her money “with interest”.
In 2017, she attempted to sell her share of Miraval to the Fight Club actor, but she said the conversations were fraught with emotional strain.
“Miraval was one of the first major investments we made together, and it was a focal point of our family life,” she said. “We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there and I brought our twin children home there from the hospital. To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard, and it was especially difficult for the children to have their lives so disrupted.”

By 2021, Jolie claimed her ex-husband demanded she sign a non-disclosure agreement before he would buy out her share of Miraval.
She refused, saying there was “no practical need for the NDA,” as she had not spoken publicly about the alleged abuse that led to their divorce, USA Today reported.
“As the mother of our children, as well as an advocate for victims of violence around the world, I found his demand extremely painful,” she wrote.
After the deal collapsed, Jolie sold her shares to Stoli Group, prompting Pitt to sue. His legal team called the sale unlawful, while Jolie’s countersuit argues there was no agreement requiring mutual consent for a sale.
Her lawyers claim Pitt pulled out of the deal after she submitted sealed evidence of domestic violence during their custody dispute.
The dispute has escalated into a discovery fight, with Pitt requesting Jolie’s private messages and communications with her legal team. Jolie’s lawyers are pushing back, calling the motion “without any legal basis” and a continuation of Pitt’s “efforts to control Angelina.”
Jolie is now seeking $33,000 in attorneys’ fees for responding to Pitt’s request.
In one redacted communication included in the court filing, Jolie wrote: “I need to remove all stress. I honestly feel I am getting sick from worry. So, I would like us to discuss better support and not continuing relationships that you see cause me stress."

In September 2016, we learned that Jolie, 49, had filed for divorce from her then-husband, Pitt, 61.
According to court documents, she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and requested physical custody of their six children and visitation for Pitt.
It was added that the actress did not request child or spousal support.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the time, Jolie's attorney told the outlet that this decision was made for the "health of her family."
"Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time," the statement said.
In response, Pitt said: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
In 2021, the Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood star lost all visitation rights with his kids due to a violation of "his ethical obligations," as per a ruling by Judge John Ouderkirk who oversaw the case at the time.

Amid the back and forth with the children's situation, the pair have also been involved in a battle regarding their winery, Château Miraval, which has led to multiple lawsuits filed against Jolie from Pitt in a bid to allegedly "protect his family."
When discussing the separation publicly for the first time, Jolie told the Guardian that she's not "the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly."
"It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children," she continued, before adding: "I mean, in some ways, it's been the last decade. There's a lot I can't say."
Now, eight years on, the pair have finally reached a settlement.
Jolie's legal team stated that the star is "ready to move on" and finally close this chapter in her life.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family," Jolie’s lawyer James Simon said in a statement according to the New York Post.
"This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over," the legal rep added.
A rep for Pitt declined to confirm or comment on the development, per the outlet.

While the divorce proceeding may be settled, the former superstar couple still have a court battle brewing tied to their French vineyard, which they bought back in 2008.
Pitt accused Jolie of selling her part of the vineyard without offering it to him first, which was allegedly part of an agreement between the two.
It comes after Jolie and Pitt met back in 2005 and officially tied the knot in 2014 before splitting two years later.

Despite saying that the divorce has left her feeling "broken", the actor did say she wants her family to move forward, stating: "All of us, including their dad. I want us to heal and be peaceful. We’ll always be a family."
During the interview, Jolie also spoke about arguments she had with Pitt over his decision to work with Harvey Weinstein on projects such as Inglourious Basterds and Killing Them Softly.
Jolie has accused Weinstein of sexually assaulting her - an allegation that Weinstein has denied.
Speaking of Pitt's decision to work with Weinstein, she said: "We fought about it. Of course it hurt."
Pitt and Jolie share six children, three of whom are adopted.
