Raphaël Graven, known by his online name Jean Pormanove, was found unresponsive on a live stream after reportedly enduring "ten days and nights of torture" in a marathon broadcast that took place on the Twitch-like platform Kick.

Viewers of the stream became alarmed after they noticed Pormanove lying lifeless on a mattress, unresponsive to their comments, per Sky News.

According to French media reports, the live stream had been running for 10 consecutive days, with the streamer subjected to extreme conditions during that time.

One of the last videos to surface reportedly shows him being humiliated by fellow streamers Naruto and Safine, who allegedly subjected him to physical violence, sleep deprivation, and the forced ingestion of toxic substances.

The Investigation and Public Outcry

Pormanove, who had over a million followers across social media platforms, was known for pushing the boundaries of extreme content, often participating in controversial and disturbing live streams.

French authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of his death, though early reports suggest that there is no immediate suspicion of foul play.

An autopsy is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding his passing. The case has prompted widespread outrage, especially after disturbing details emerged about the abusive treatment he allegedly endured.

A troubling message from Pormanove to his mother before his death revealed his distress, as he described feeling "held hostage" and “fed up” with the ongoing streams.

Support from Adin Ross and Drake

In the wake of Pormanove's tragic death, fellow streamers Adin Ross and rapper Drake have vowed to cover the costs of his funeral.

The two, who have collaborated on charity streams in the past, expressed their shock and grief over the loss.

“This is horrible and disgusting. Whoever was a part of this deserves to face severe consequences,” Ross shared on social media. “I just spoke with Drake. Drake and I will be covering the funeral costs. This won’t bring his life back, but it’s the least we can do. Prayers go out to Jean’s family.”

The gesture has been widely praised by Pormanove’s followers, with many expressing gratitude for the support in such a heartbreaking situation.

“Adin and Drake stepping up like that shows real heart,” one fan commented. Another wrote, "Shout out to Adin for covering the funeral. You earned my respect."

The Role of Kick and Online Platforms

Kick has issued a statement expressing condolences and confirming that they are reviewing the circumstances surrounding his death.

A spokesperson for Kick said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jean Pormanove and extend our condolences to his family, friends, and community. Kick’s community guidelines are designed to protect creators, and we remain committed to upholding these standards across our platform," per Sky News.

The platform’s moderation policies, which have made it a competitor to Twitch, have come under scrutiny following the tragic event.

As the investigation continues, French Minister for Digital Affairs, Clara Chappaz, has stressed that online platforms must take responsibility for hosting such harmful content and emphasized the need for stricter regulation of online content.

“This type of failure can lead to the worst and has no place in France, Europe, or anywhere else,” Chappaz added.
