Apple only recently announced the iPhone Air - the thinnest phone the company has ever produced - but people have already started pointing out flaws.

What’s more, their biggest competitor Samsung has piled in, with the South Korean company sharing a joke at their American rival’s expense.

Fans have started to notice a few things, too - and while it might not be too damaging for Apple, the burn might leave a mark.

Apple and Samsung have been rivals for decades

Apple and Samsung have been duking it out at the top of the smartphone charts for a long time now.

In fact, each side has dedicated supporters and loyalists willing to go out to bat for them.

The Cupertino-based tech monolith recently announced the new iPhone 17 and iPhone Air - and a bunch of other stuff - at an event, previewing a heck of a lot of fancy new features

The latter is the thinnest phone that Apple has ever made, coming in at just 5.5mm.

That’s 2.3mm thinner than the iPhone 16, for reference.

Sure, these things cost a lot, but we expected that, right?

Whether any of that actually matters or not is besides the point - it clearly mattered to Samsung, as the company took to social media to aim a dig at their illustrious competitors.

You see, some years ago after a similar event, Samsung shared a post relating to the iPhone 14 that simply read: “Let us know it when it folds.”

Last Tuesday, they reposted that same thing, writing: “#iCant believe this is still relevant.”

They backed that up with a skull emoji, just to really emphasise the point.

Eagle-eyed observers have noticed something else

That’s not the end of the story, though.

After pictures of the new iPhone emerged, some internet sleuths noticed that the USB-C charging port on the bottom of the phone appears to be somewhat skewed - possibly due to the phone being so thin.

One comment read: “The USB-C port on the new iPhone Air is misaligned lol”

Another remarked: “Ouch. This is so painful to look at. Somebody please help [me] cleanse my eyes.”

A third said: “It’s because of how thin it is and the display layer needs that offset.

“There’s literally no space left vertically.”

You’d have to assume that this won’t put millions of people off from buying the phone - especially if their current model is one of those set to become obsolete this year.

Apple is going to be fine, Samsung is going to be fine, and everyone on the internet got a little chuckle at their collective expense.
