An eight-year-old boy has earned praise for selling his Pokémon card collection to pay for his sick dog's $700 vet's bills.
Per People magazine, Pokémon fanatic Bryson Kliemann, who hails from Lebanon, Virginia, recently noticed that his four-month-old puppy Bruce was seriously unwell.
A vet later diagnosed the dog diagnosed with parvo - a contagious virus that can be lethal in canines if left untreated.
Take a look at this news report on the heartwarming story in the video below:Unfortunately, the Kliemann family was unable to afford the cost of Bruce's treatment.
However, Bryson wasn't willing to lose his furry friend, and on May 4 he set up a stall outside his house to sell his collection of Pokémon cards to passing strangers.
Bryson initially sold the cards for between $5-$10. But once social media users got wind of his fundraiser through Facebook, they began to donate to a GoFundMe launched by his mom, Kimberly Woodruff.
As a result of this, Bryson has now far exceeded his initial goal, and his mom's fundraiser currently stands at $17,930 at the time of writing.
On social media, a number of Facebook users have praised Bryson for making such a noble sacrifice to save his beloved pet.
One person wrote: "I just made my 1st investment in the Pokémon card business! Two of the most handsome and sweet little gentlemen I've ever [seen] assured me it was worth what I paid for! My [heart] tells me it's priceless! My [heart is a puddle!"
Another added: "Made me cry... a boy n his dog. Hope everything keeps progressing. [sic]"
While a third wrote: "Bless his sweet little heart."
Finally, another person commented: "God bless his little heart. I'm so glad that he is turning into the best little boy. And that he cares that much for an animal that shows me he has true love for animals. Maybe he will grow up to be a vet."
As if that wasn't enough, WCYB News reports that Bryson's story caught the attention of Pokémon employees in Bellevue in Washington.
They promptly sent him a letter of goodwill along with a bundle with rare collectible Pokémon cards to replace those he had sold off.
Meanwhile, People reports that Woodruff later shared an update on Bruce's condition, revealing that he had received his treatment and is feeling better.
She added that the rest of the money raised by the public will be used to help pay for the dog's future vaccinations or donated to charity to support other sick animals in the future.

A woman has revealed that a stranger once offered her $200,000 for her dog and her response has ignited a debate.
Dog owners will understand that there's very little in this world that compares to the unconditional love that your pooch can bring.
If you ask your dog-owning friends what amount of money they would accept to give up their dog, the answer will more often than not be "no amount of money".
Because after all, dogs are family, and we can't sell family as much as we might want to sometimes.
In a viral TikTok video that has over 950,000 views, Alexis Elliott (@itsalexiselliott), a dog mom from the Los Angeles area, reveals that someone recently offered her $200,000 for her Doberman Pinscher puppy.
In the video, Elliott recalled the encounter with the potential buyer, declaring: "Someone offered us $200k for our puppy, and I told my husband, 'absolutely f***ing not.' Would you guys sell your dogs for $200k? Like, that is my baby!"
Despite making what I (and hopefully many others) believe to be the correct decision, this didn't stop a debate breaking out in the comments about whether the dog mom did the right thing.
Some believed that she should have taken the money, as one person wrote: "That dog would have been outside I can get another dog."
Elliott was quick to respond, saying: "You shouldn’t have another [one] if they are disposable to you."
Another person said: "It’s a crime to not accept 200k," while a third said: "In this economy, I wish I had so many puppies to sell for $200k a piece."
If you're horrified by people who would be willing to sell their dog to a stranger, then fear not, because a lot of comments also stated how no amount of money could ever part them from their canine companion.
One person wrote: "I live and breathe for my dogs. They are MY CHILDREN. Would you sell your child for 200K NO??"
A second said: "ABSOLUTELY NOT. The people saying yes should not have a dog tbh. That boy is my life," while a third added: "Omg never. The thought of my dog being confused and feeling abandoned breaks my heart."
In case this story about dogs has made you want to see a dog that will melt your heart, then meet a black labrador puppy called Burreaux.
According to the Mirror, the adorable puppy was brought to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana with his siblings by director Courtney Wingate.
Quickly after his arrival, Courtney noticed something different about Burreaux, and that was that he has the adorable ability to smile at people.
After grinning at those who stopped by the rescue center to choose a dog, one couple couldn't resist taking little Burreaux home and he's now living his best life in his forever home.
Once again, just in case anyone is still unclear, dogs are the best.

When humanity is at its worst we can always look to children to help us see the good in things. So pure of heart and unfiltered in their beliefs; a news segment about a bunch or rapscallions doing a good deed will always put a smile on your face. Wouldn't you believe it? I have just such a story: a nine-year-old South Carolina boy selling lemonade to help his sick baby brother raised nearly $6,000 in just two hours last weekend.
[[facebookwidget||https://www.facebook.com/teamdylan96/photos/a.185114255647857.1073741828.184691205690162/187996048693011/?type=3&theater]]
Andrew Emery wants to help his parents pay for the medical bills for his little brother Dylan. The infant suffers from Krabbe disease, a rare and often lethal neurological condition.
So, last weekend, Emery spent two hours at used truck dealership Southern Wheels in Greenwood, selling lemonade and #TeamDylan T-shirts. He raised $5,860 to be added to $1,300 raised at a Friday benefit concert, and $5,600 from a GoFundMe site for his brother.
“I’m gonna spend it on doctor’s bills and stuff, and buy him a teddy bear too,” Andrew told the Index-Journal of Greenwood. “I just want to help Dylan. He’s my baby brother.” Dylan's mom and pap are with him at a Pittsburgh hospital updating everyone on their son's condition on Facebook while they seek medical care.
The mom, Melissa Emery wrote last week: “The calls, texts, thoughts and prayers have been continuous and so numerous we can’t count. We r so appreciative!! Please keep them coming because we r grasping at each one to help us through the day. For the people who are doing fundraisers and donating. I will never be able to repay u for helping us but please know we r so thankful and I pray that God will bless u to the end of the earth!! [sic]”

Andrew’s mother said he has been thrilled from the start to have a younger brother, and the fundraising is just an extension of the love he has for Dylan. “It’s really hard to explain to a 9-year-old what’s happening. From the minute he found out he was going to be a big brother, he was in love with it,” she said. “I see every day that he’s special, and now everybody else can, too.”
Andrew has been talking to his baby brother on video calls, and has big plans for when he gets home, hopefully later this week. “I’m going to hug him,” Andrew said. This reminds me of another noble kid at the turn of the year - if you can still see through the tears in your eyes have a look at Dawson Aldridge.
[[facebookwidget||https://www.facebook.com/lovewhatreallymatters/photos/pcb.1772760659412991/1772760486079675/?type=3&theater]]
Summer Aldridge, his mom, promised two-year-old Dawson that he could have five dollars to buy himself a treat if he behaved (I would be lucky to even get the cereal I liked, let alone five dollars for whatever I wanted).
At the end of the errand, Dawson went to pick out a drink and a candy bar. But then he saw a group of firefighters in uniform and brought his mother an entire box of Tic Tacs. "Can we give these to those guys?" he asked.
His mum, of course, agreed and Dawson walked over to the firefighters to deliver the treats himself. His mum posted the heartfelt story on Facebook, saying "they were so nice — just hugging him and asking him what he wants for Christmas".
She continues in the post, "Dawson said to them 'I wanna be a firefighter for Christmas!' They all laughed and said, 'We have room for you buddy, we can give you an application now'." This is too cute to handle - excuse me while I go get some tissues.

A Georgia man has been sentenced to three years in prison after spending money he received from a coronavirus business relief loan on a rare Pokémon card.
As reported by NBC News, 31-year-old Vinath Oudomsine of Dublin, Georgia, successfully exploited the Small Business Administration by applying for a disaster relief loan for a business that didn't even exist.
The loans had been put in place to assist small businesses amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
However, last year, Oudomsine submitted false information to the US Small Business Administration in order to receive the funds.
State prosecutors revealed that Oudomsine had claimed he had a business of 10 employees, that had generated $235,000 in gross revenue in the year prior to the global pandemic. He added that his business was an "entertainment service", and successfully received $85,000 from the loan program.
Oudomsine then used $57,789 from the fund to purchase a Charizard Pokémon trading card.
(I won't lie, I am a little jealous, as the elusive card never made it into my own personal collection as a kid.)
In a statement, acting US Attorney David Estes of the Southern District of Georgia said that Oudomsine pleaded guilty to a single count of wire fraud back in October.
As well as the three years in prison, District Court Judge Dudley H. Bowen also fined Oudomsine $10,000, ordered him to pay restitution of $85,000, and to serve three years of supervised release following his eventual release.
He also agreed to forfeit the Charizard card as part of his plea agreement (ouch).
The story soon became a topic of discussion for Twitter users, with one person writing: "He tried to catch them all but in the end he was the one who got caught."
"I know pokemon cards are rare af in certain cases but good lord why would you waste relief money to buy a 3 by 4 of cardboard," added another.
Charizard cards have long been a highly collectable item among Pokémon fans - however, their legendary status had led to their price tags sky rocketing
For example, on Thursday, A Charizard card sold at a Heritage Auctions for $336,000, per CNN.

Over $20,000 in donations has been raised for a 12-year-old boy who was mauled by a dog while trying to protect his younger siblings.
As reported by Fox 2 Detroit, the incident occurred on Monday when Deacon Ashmore, 12, was playing outside with his two younger sisters, his younger brother, and some other kids in their Detroit neighborhood.
Young Ashmore then noticed pit bull-mixes start to race toward his siblings.
Instinctively, the big brother threw himself between the dogs and the other kids - giving them the opportunity to run back home to safety. Sadly, however, Deacon suffered the consequences and was mauled by the dogs.
Speaking to Fox, Deacon said: "They got me back behind my leg."
The boy's mom, Elisabeth Ashmore, said: "Deacon came hobbling in, and there were chunks of skin falling off and there was blood everywhere."
People reports how Deacon was bitten badly on the left leg, with one of the dog's teeth puncturing his calf down to the bone.
He was reportedly able to free himself from the dog's jaws after screaming: "Bad dog! Bad dog!"
Speaking to Fox, his father, Peter Ashmore, said: "You know, the biggest concern was ligament and tendon damage.
"We were really grateful, God was really good, because when you think about it on your calf, your Achilles is right there, you know. And just all the ligaments coming down, that connect. A couple of spots you can see, maybe a couple of centimeters this way or the other, and it could’ve been really dicey. That’s a serious kind of injury."
Despite being expected to make a full recovery, a GoFundMe was set up in an effort to help with Deacon's medical bills and physiotherapy.
The fundraiser explains: "Deacon stepped between the two dogs and his siblings so they could run to the house, but in doing so had his leg badly mangled. He had surgery Tuesday morning to repair his calf. Deacon will have medical bills which may include physical therapy.
"Along with financial help Deacon can use your prayers for his spirits to stay up and his leg heals without complications."
As of this writing, over $21,000 has been raised of the $30,000 target.
Such an incredibly brave thing for somebody so young to do! Well done, Deacon! Good luck in your recovery.

Prepare yourselves for the most adorable story you'll read all year.
A golden retriever and a fourth-grader have warmed people's hearts this week, after the 10-year-old boy sent a hand-written letter to his neighbors asking if they needed somebody to look after their dog once the pandemic has ended.
The cute pup in question is Arthur the Floof, and his owners shared a snap of the letter to the pooch's Instagram account. The post was captioned: "I made friends with a small hooman today. He’s like basically me-sized. I bet I can get him to give me more treats than my hoomans".
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/CAETS5Zp4Kj/]]
(Yes, Arthur's owners caption each of his posts as if he has written them... ADORABLE!)
The wholesome letter - written in both red and blue ink - read: "Hello neighbors, my name is Troy, I’m in 4th grade and I’m just wondering if maybe after this virus you need a dog sitter and if so, I can take your dog on walks and more."
The post amassed over 18,000 likes and people flooded the comments section asking Arthur's owners if they were going to take Troy up on his offer. Basically, people really wanted Arthur and Troy to become best friends:
And not one to let his followers down, Arthur posted a snap the next days with the caption: "Guess who’s meeting Troy today!!!!"
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/CAF3oXnJLco/]]
Once again, people went crazy in the comments section. To say Arthur's fans were invested would be a gross understatement:
Arthur happily obliged, providing a "pupdate" with his followers and explaining that the two enjoyed a socially-distanced playdate. He wrote:
"Just a quick pupdate - me and the smol neighbor had a really great (socially distant) play date today. Because he’s so smol we didn’t take any pics just for privacy purposes but he told me all about his dog fren and even showed me some dance moves!! I have a feeling we’re gonna be best buds!!"
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/CAHHxFyJ4GQ/]]
And, once again, people couldn't get enough of this adorable story - including Renee, who had my favorite response to the story:
As a result of all the attention, Arthur revealed that he has received a lot of new followers, writing in a follow-up post:
"Holy h*ck, y’all. Welcome to all my new frens!!!! To everybody new here, my name is Arthur and I’m the cutest floof on the block. My hoomans told me that me and my fren Troy broke the pupernet yesterday. I’m glad it brought me so many new frens!! Do any of you have treats to spare? ? I celebrated my newfound celebrity status by trying to eat a dead baby bird because I gotta keep my hoomans humble."
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/CAJDupZJMWB/]]
And now I can honestly say that I am more invested in Troy and Arthur's relationship more than my own marriage.
