There are plenty of ways to achieve greater success in your life, whether it's in your job, your love life, or your hobby of choice. Many end up leaning into superstitions or taking the easy route, but it shouldn't be understated how much getting in the right headspace can be for this sort of thing. Actually getting there is the hard part.

That's where certain good habits and practices can have a knock-on effect - a technique that Cam Newton is definitely leaning into after a comparatively lacklustre 2018 season in the NFL. And while a poll voted on by players from 25 NFL teams chose him as the most underrated quarterback in the league not too long ago, he believes he's not on top form.
The Carolina Panthers started to struggle back in November, at which point Newton revealed part of it came down to his personal performance. After the team lost to the New Orleans Saints, their sixth straight loss, the football player said that a shoulder injury had been hindering his efforts during this streak of losses. Then, on January 24, he underwent surgery on this right shoulder.

Now he's hoping to change the tide - which has lead him on a streak of giving up various things he loves for one month. In January it was no gambling and in February it was no meat. So what exactly is the reason behind this? Well, he wants to improve his mental fortitude - which also means giving up sex.
Not only that, but March will see him drop WiFi too, all in order to make him a better quarterback - as he explained in a recent interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

“I wanted it to be challenging,” Newton, who has a long-term girlfriend and three children, said. “I’m coming off shoulder surgery.”

“It makes my mind stronger,” Newton said. “So when the season comes around, I say if I did those things, I’m mentally stronger.”
Actor David Boreanaz, who was also appearing on the show as a guest, joked that he should have taken that challenge during February, as it only has 28 days.

Luckily for Newton, he's only got a week or so left of this month...

Some NFL fans are angry these days, and not just because their favorite team sucks. Last year, players started kneeling during the national anthem to raise awareness about racial injustice and police brutality. However, critics think this peaceful protest is offensive to the American flag, and by proxy, military veterans. Personally, I think police officers murdering unarmed black civilians and facing zero consequences for their actions is more offensive - but hey, to each their own.
Recently Nike hired Colin Kaepernick, the player who started the protest, to be the face of their new advertising campaign. For some fans, this added insult to injury. Furious, they announced a boycott, and shared videos burning their Nike shoes on social media. Because nothing says "screw you" to a company like purchasing their expensive products, then destroying them.
Well, now there's something new for football fans to be mad about: male cheerleaders.
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/ABCNews4/status/1031751018990784512]]
This season, two NFL teams are adding male dancers to their cheerleading squads. For the first time in league history, these three men will perform the same choreographed dance as the women. But they won't wear the same outfits. While the women wear short dresses, they'll wear similarly colored pants and T-shirts.
Quinton Peron joined the Los Angeles Rams squad. On Twitter, he shared his excitement: "This week has been a whirlwind! But it’s still so surreal to me that I am one of the First Male cheerleaders to dance for a pro team."
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/Qperon/status/979803087475957761]]
Napoleon Jinnies also joined the Rams squad. "Still can’t believe I’m one of the first males in history to be a pro NFL cheerleader!," he wrote on Twitter. "Everyone’s support and love has been insane! thank you and GO RAMS!"

And finally, Jesse Hernandez, and his stylish pompadour, joined the New Orleans Saints' Saintsation dance team. In an interview with The Advocate, his mom, Tracey Hernandez, said she was proud of her son. She's received overwhelming support from NFL fans, players and coaches - so who cares about online trolls?
"Those people just need to get over it," said Tracey. "We’re in 2018. Things shouldn’t be just for men or just for women. If you have the ability to do it, you should be able to do it."

Many people applauded the NFL for taking a few steps toward inclusivity. Others expressed their fury on social media. Twitter user #Education4Libs claimed adding three male dancers will "piss off the fans" even more. But least now he has more free time on Sundays 4 educating libs, a gr8 way 2 spend t1m3.

Twitter user @BrentVoisin expressed relief the male cheerleaders weren't skirts, then imagined a nightmarish world in which "Hooters Guys" might exist. The horror...the horror...

Twitter user @rushin291 objected to the idea of male cheerleaders, because football "is the manliest sport there is." Because there's nothing more manly than a bunch of dudes running around, chasing balls, and trying to hug each other.

Twitter user @GrantJKidney took the Alex Jones route, believing this is all a slippery-slope conspiracy. Soon all the cheerleaders will be men, all the players will be women, all the referees will be blind, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

Well, haters gonna hate, but the world keeps spinning. Maybe Tracey Hernandez put it best: "I know a lot of people used to feel the Saintsations and the other girls were there to give the guys in the stands something to look at during games. But times have changed. And I just hope that people can be open-minded about it now."

Lip readers have shared what they believe Taylor Swift said when the NFL cameras panned to her - once again - during a recent game.
Ever since the 34-year-old started being linked with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, she's been popping up in the crowd at his games, much to the delight of some Swifties.
However, not everyone's been a fan of Swift's appearances, with many stating that it's taking away from the game.
"I really don't want to see Taylor Swift during the game tomorrow. I do not care that your kid will now ask you questions about football because they show her," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) prior to the game.
"Dear @NFL Media: Can U Please Stop Forcing Taylor Swift On Football Fans! We Get It She’s At The Game & She’s A Phenomenal Artist! But Damn If We Want To See Her This Much We’ll Go To Her Concert!! Y’all Show Her More Than Y’all Show The Owner Of The Chiefs! We Love Her But DAMN!" another added.
"This game is so rigged lol. I'm not even a fan of either team. But man this is an embarrassment for the NFL. Can't believe we will always remember the 2023 season as the Year Taylor Swift Ruined Football," a third irritated user commented.
While initially, it seemed as though the 'Love Story' singer was fine with the attention, she's now seemingly done with the cameras while she's out trying to support her boyfriend.
At yesterday's AFC championship game (January 28), which saw the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens go head-to-head at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Swift didn't look too pleased when she appeared on the big screen. Check out the moment below:
In fact, in a clip from the game, the 'Bad Blood' singer can be seeing saying something as she looks up at the screen - with social media users believing that she said the words: "Go away, please".
Upon seeing the clip, fans took to social media once again, to express their opinions on the alleged move.
"You know what, she’s got my respect. I know she’s never been at fault for the constant coverage of her at these she games as it’s been nauseating to no end," wrote one user. Really wish the networks would stop this as they only need to show her and other celebrities once.
"She’s there as a fan and spectator, nothing more and less. Media coverage of her at these games has not helped as it’s unintentionally made her an enemy among passionate sports fans," they added.
Others also suggested that even she was aware that the media were "overdoing it."
As the discussion continued online, some also suggested that she was actually not focused on the camera and instead saw a Grammy banner and said: "Oh, the Grammys!"
The Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game 17-10 against the Ravens and Swift ran down to the field to hug and kiss her boyfriend in an adorable moment between the two.

We all know that Patrick Mahomes is incredibly talented, and it turns out that even the Super Bowl referees know how good he is as they were caught discussing his talents on the field.
For anyone who has avoided social media lately, the Super Bowl took place on Sunday which saw the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers go head-to-head.
In what was a thrilling contest, the game went into overtime and the Chiefs eventually took the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy home after winning 25-22.
Aside from Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, one man stole the spotlight once again as Patrick Mahomes showed the world why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the sport right now.
Anyone who is into football knows how good Mahomes is, and that includes the referees who were captured discussing the quarterback during the game.
Allegations of biased officiating have dogged the Chiefs, with critics attributing their dominance to referee favoritism towards Mahomes.
Critics point to instances where Mahomes seemingly receives favorable calls, dismissing opposing claims as mere sour grapes from rival fans. They argue that such accusations lack evidence, often relying on selective video clips that could be applied to any quarterback in the league.
Audio snippets from Mahomes' pivotal performance against the San Francisco 49ers shed new light on the officials' perspective. In a brief exchange captured on tape, referee Bill Vinovich is heard advising the 49ers: "Your best play that you have in your book right now... Because you don't want to give Mahomes the ball back."
Watch the clip below:The clip has stirred fresh controversy, prompting varied reactions from football enthusiasts. While some view the comments as damning evidence of biased officiating, others argue that refs talk like this all the time.
"Even the refs knew you can’t give Mahomes the ball back," one person said, while a second added: "Just shows that the refs enjoy a great game also! They had the best seat in the house!"
Nevertheless, interpretations of Vinovich's statement vary widely. While some interpret it as favoritism towards Mahomes, others argue that it shows the officials' impartiality by emphasizing the need for strategic gameplay to counter Mahomes' talents.
This wasn't the only thing that sparked people to believe that the Super Bowl was rigged, as some believed that the entire game was tipped in Taylor Swift's favor.
"49ers deserved that win. It’s so rigged I hope you guys can see it for what it is, truly rigged. Chiefs you guys got so lucky Taylor swift bailed you guys out," wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
"TAYLOR SWIFT WINNING THE SUPER BOWL AND YOU DONT THINK THIS IS RIGGED?" added another.
There is obviously no evidence that the game was rigged.

A sports reporter has been commended for her actions online after footage of her Monday night broadcast swiftly went viral.
CBS Miami reporter Samantha Rivera was covering the Stanley Cup Final broadcast earlier this week, which saw the Las Vegas Golden Knights win 7-2 against the Florida Panthers.
During her coverage, however, she was seen shoving a rowdy fan out of the way so she could continue to report on the game.
And it was this boss moment that went viral, being seen just under 13 million times on Twitter.
Check out the moment below:
Rivera, 28, stiff-armed a fan out of her frame when the person attempted to disrupt her coverage, with the reporter telling him: "Nope! Nope! Nope!"
Rivera later posted the footage to her own Twitter account, writing: "Listen, I don't give a damn what team you're rooting for - get the hell out of my face when I'm working and respect that I'm here to do my job.
"Excited to get back home to some classy #Panthers fans for game 3!!"
Many netizens took to the social media platform to praise the young reporter, with one person writing: "That was one of the best professionals that didn't break and you kept him from interfering in your broadcast fully. What a stiff arm. That is the best I have ever seen in years. You rock."
"Great job standing your ground. The fact they didn't have security with you is crazy but turns out you don't need it lol," another person added.
A further user joked that Rivera would be a great sports star, quipping: "Look at the way she plants her hand and drives through. That's a practiced stiff arm. She didn't give dude an inch. 10/10," to which another user said: "I hear the Patriots might draft her if she doesn't go to Miami in the first round."
While the unplanned moment did well on Twitter, Rivera told Yahoo that it's good encouragement for reporters to "stay calm" if they ever find themselves in similar situations.
"I think I did exactly what I needed to do in the right moment," she says.
Ultimately, Rivera revealed her only thought at the time was staying focused on doing her job, whilst also maintaining her composure and doing her job, adding: "I had to focus on my next live shot. I had to be like, alright, let's keep looking at these notes and keep looking at what I have to do next. Focus on that and then we'll worry about all the other stuff afterwards."
Though, the young reporter did admit that she had felt quite frustrated after the incident. "I was mad, I was annoyed and I had adrenaline in me as soon as it happened," she recounted. "I was annoyed that somebody would come into my workspace and try to disrespect it like that, because I wouldn't go to somebody else's place of work and try to mess up what they're doing."
