On Tuesday, the world woke up to some of the most shocking news in recent times. Of course, given the nature of the past few years, this may seem like a bold claim. But, while the inauguration of a certain Mr. Donald Trump to The White House may have a pretty big story, and while Facebook may have mishandled over 89 million users' data, they do not even come close to this.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have broken up.
I know, I know.
Calm down.

Yes, Channing Tatum; the man who you would draw if you were asked to draw a jock. Channing Tatum; the man whose head looks so solid that it could literally be smashed through a wall and he would emerge unscathed, has broken up with his wife.
And, if we're being honest here, we are all very upset, aren't we?

The announcement couldn't have been anymore apropos to celebrity norms, with the couple issuing their statement onto Tatum's Instagram and spouting the usual spiel about how they still love each other but that they are being taken down different paths.
Of course, given the rabid nature of celebrity fanbases, plenty of users weighed in with their opinion on the announcement. There was grief, celebration and slander in equal measure, but the main feeling was one of shock.

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," the statement read.
"We feel deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.
"There are no secrets nor salacious events at the foot of our decision - just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives possible."
Despite their claim that there was nothing untoward happening in their relationship, the press still had a field day with the rumours. According to several reports, it was Tatum's drinking and flirtatious habits that led to the couple parting ways.

However, in order to shut down the claims, the actor's team have spoken out.
"The media is fabricating stories and none of these accusations are remotely true," a rep for Channing told E! News, "Channing and Jenna released an honest and loving statement which is the only truth."

This comment comes after a rep from Jenna's team released a statement saying, "Happy to clarify that absolutely none of these rumors are true. The reason our statement was so positive [was] because that’s the reality of the situation."
As the world recovers from the horrifying news, it's nice to know that it wasn't Tatum's drinking that led to the split, it was simply the fact that they loved each other so much, in fact, some would say too much. Aren't celebrities genuine, hey?

Over the past nine months or so, there has been a speight of sexual assault and harassment allegations levelled against high-profile Hollywood elites. It all started, of course, with Harvey Weinstein, who has now pleaded not guilty to all rape and criminal sex act charges. From there, a domino effect started, as more and more people gained the confidence to speak out against abusers in their industry, and greater actions were taken to punish those who were found to have stepped out of line.
And now, after months of allegations, the latest domino has fallen.
John Lasseter, the head of animation for Disney and Pixar, went on leave from the studios last year after several people said that he had been frequently "grabbing," "kissing" and making comments about [people's] physical attributes". On Friday, however, he announced that he would be stepping down from the role at the end of the year due to "missteps".
The 61-year-old had been with Disney since 1979, and is responsible for classics such as Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Monsters Inc. While his filmography may be impressive, however, his conduct at work was reportedly less so. In light of this, he released a statement this week acknowledging his need to step down.
"The last six months have provided an opportunity to reflect on my life, career and personal priorities," Lasseter said in a statement released by Disney. "While I remain dedicated to the art of animation and inspired by the creative talent at Pixar and Disney, I have decided the end of this year is the right time to begin focusing on new creative challenges."
Bob Iger, the chief executive of Disney, had many good things to say about Lasseter, and especially praised the way he "set the standard in animation for generations to come."
Iger continued: "John had a remarkable tenure at Pixar and Disney Animation, reinventing the animation business, taking breathtaking risks, and telling original, high quality stories that will last forever. We are profoundly grateful for his contribution, which included a masterful and remarkable turnaround of The Walt Disney Animation Studios."
Originally, Lasseter's absence was only intended to be temporary, and Disney was actually considering reintegrating him into the team at the time he decided to quit.
Back in November, when he first stepped down, the animation giant offered an apology "to anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of an unwanted hug" or indeed any other form of contact that might have made them feel "disrespected or uncomfortable".
Though no formal charges have been brought up against Lasseter, his behaviour was still considered inappropriate for the workplace (though he, himself, does not appear to have admitted to as much).
Lasseter is an executive producer on The Incredibles 2, which airs later this year, and will continue to work on other projects until the end of 2018. After that, we're not entirely certain about what will happen, as Disney have yet to announce his successor.

Today is the day folks, mark it in your calendar: love is officially dead, again. Ever since the veritable golden couple, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, announced their separation last summer, many of us found that our relationship with love never recovered - we had trust issues - and now, with the news that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have called it quits after nearly nine years of marriage - it's been rendered terminal.
Channing and Jenna, who met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and married in 2009, took to social media to post their separation announcement.
On Monday evening, the pair announced the split on Instagram, writing
"Hey world! So…We have something we would like to share."
"First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. We’re living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get distorted into 'alternative facts' So we want to share the truth so you know that if you didn’t read it here then it’s most certainly fiction," the 37-year-old's continued.
"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna."

Rumours of a split began to circulate when Jenna Dewan attended the annual Vanity Fair Oscars after-party alone, but she told ET that Tatum was on "daddy duty" and was "happy to have a night off".
In February, she opened up to Health about the public's perception that she and Tatum had a "perfect life", stressing that they worked incredibly hard to keep their relationship happy and healthy. "When people say you guys have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no one’s perfect," the 37-year-old asserted. "I think there are such things as great fits. It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, and I think up until this point we’ve really grown together. Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and vice versa."
"But I think a couple needs to be conscious and to want to do the work and be willing to look at the parts of you that need work. Both of us have been pretty aware and willing to do that," Dewan continued. "We’ve always had the same values. But we’re not perfect! Are you kidding? We fight like other couples, we disagree about things, we have days where we don’t really like each other."
Well, there you have it. Who will be next? It seems as if nothing is sacred anymore.

In all of its iterations - from lust, to the whole life-affirming shebang - love has been under attack of late. Last year, golden couple, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, called time on their 10 year relationship. And it seems to have provoked a veritable domino effect, with Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez purportedly going on a "break" in December - and now, as we all know - Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have called it quits after nine years of marriage.
Yes, love has officially been rendered terminal, folks.
Dewan, who has four-year-old daughter Everly with Tatum, has finally broken her silence on the matter - addressing speculation that the Magic Mike actor's drinking and flirting was the cause of the split.
Despite Dewan and Tatum assuring fans on Monday evening that there were "no secrets nor salacious events" that caused their separation, the tabloid rumour mill has naturally gone into overdrive.
Since their Instagram announcement, it has been speculated that Tatum's drinking may have come between the pair. Back in 2015, in an interview with Star magazine, the actor confessed: "I probably drink too much." He added, "My wife, that's what she bought into."
Now, it looks like that assertion has come back to haunt Tatum, as various publications are using it to explain the pair's separation. The same news source also alleged that the 37-year-old had been "flirting" with various women while on the set of 2014's Foxcatcher.
Dewan's representative, however, has since responded to such claims. Defending her estranged husband, the actress's spokesperson stated that she was "Happy to clarify that absolutely none of these rumours are true."
"The reason our statement was so positive [was] because that's the reality of the situation," the statement continued.
Dewan and Tatum, who met while filming 2006's Step Up, released a joint statement on Monday announcing their separation. "Hey world! So…We have something we would like to share," they began.
"First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. Well, there you have it. Anything for a bit of gossip, eh?
