Adam Wylie, best known for his appearance on Gilmore Girls, was apprehended by police after allegedly shoplifting at a Target in California.
According to PEOPLE, the Burbank Police Department shared in a report that the 39-year-old actor was arrested on October 13 after Target security observed him picking out health and beauty products.
The report claimed that the former Disney star proceeded to the self-checkout area but allegedly only scanned a few items from his cart before attempting to flee the store with the goods. He was then stopped by Target Loss Prevention Officers outside and escorted back inside.
According to officers, the Valley Village resident had allegedly attempted to leave the store with $108.05 dollars worth of unpaid merchandise, a Burbank PD rep told The Wrap.
The Burbank Police Department responded and officers issued a citation for petty theft for Wylie. He was later released by authorities.
Wylie is a former child star who famously portrayed Zach Brock, the son of Sheriff Jim (Tom Skerritt) and Doctor Jill Brock (Kathy Baker), on Picket Fences from 1992 to 1996.
The San Dimas native's first brush with fame came at the age of four when he starred in a candy commercial, which led to more voice work as well as appearing on-screen.
He also led the 1997 Disney Channel original movie Under Wraps and returned to the franchise for Under Wraps 2 in 2022, but played a different character.
The actor went on to star as Brad Langford, a classmate of Rory (played by Alexis Bledell), for six episodes of Gilmore Girls and made guest appearances on NCIS, Malcolm in the Middle, Veronica Mars, General Hospital, and Castle.
Wylie also found success on the stage, having starred in the 2002 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods on Broadway.
The Lucifer actor's recent career has predominantly consisted of voice work in projects like Arcane, The Mitchells vs the Machines, Ben 10, and multiple Smurfs projects.
He has also found success as a magician, amassing nearly 1.4 million followers on TikTok and even performing on Masters of Illusion in 2016.
Since news of the alleged shoplifting circulated online, many fans have flooded the actor's comment section with questions about the incident.
However, as of the time of writing, neither the actor nor his representatives have provided a statement regarding the alleged incident.
