Jason Momoa has revealed that Ben Affleck will be back in a Bat-suit for the Aquaman sequel.

The 42-year-old actor took to Instagram to confirm that Affleck, 49, will be reprising his role as Batman in the upcoming movie: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The Aquaman star shared a snap of the star filming together in California on Thursday (July 28) with the caption: "REUNITED bruce and Arthur," referring to their DC superhero alter ego names of Bruce Wayne and Arthur Curry.

Momoa also posted a fun video where he surprised fans while they toured the Warner Bros studio lot where you can see Affleck's initials on the door of his trailer.

"WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. Busted on set all great things coming in Aquaman 2. All my aloha J," he concluded in the caption.

The Gone Girl actor - who recently got married to Jennifer Lopez - previously announced his retirement as Batman in 2019 and has been open about the personal and professional struggles that came with the role.

So, it came as a surprise to fans two years ago when it was revealed that Affleck would play his role once more for The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, which is due for release on June 23, 2023.

Affleck first starred in the superhero blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then starred as a cameo in 2016’s Suicide Squad. He was also present in 2017’s Justice League, alongside Momoa, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, 2021.

The actor spoke to The New York Times in July of 2020 that he saw the new Batman script before the role ultimately went to Robert Pattinson. However, he was told that the role would take an emotional toll on him.

"I showed somebody the Batman script," Affleck told the publication. "They said, 'I think the script is good. I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went through again.'"

While there's been no additional information on his recapulated role, it looks like Affleck will play a big part in the next Aquaman sequel.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be directed by James Wan and features stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, and Patrick Wilson.

The film will be released in theatres on 17 March 2023.
