Elon Musk recently shared a private image of Amber Heard from during their relationship, and a source has claimed that he did so without her permission.

As previously reported, the controversial incident transpired when Musk, the owner of the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), shared the photo of Heard cosplaying as Mercy from Overwatch.

This snapshot from their past relationship came to light through a newly released biography about the billionaire, and quickly caught the attention of fans. Seemingly unfazed by the potential backlash, Musk proceeded to post the picture.

Musk appeared enthusiastic about Heard's cosplay choice, as she dressed up as a character from the game Overwatch, writing: "She did dress up as Mercy. It was awesome."

The billionaire faced immense backlash after sharing the image, as he was branded "disgusting" due to it being unclear whether Heard had given him permission to share the private snap.

A source has now told Page Six that the actress didn't know that Musk was going to share the image and that it was intended to stay private.

The source added that Heard was asked several times to speak to Walter Isaacson (the author of the biography), which she did "out of respect for Elon".

The book delves into how Heard put the outfit together, and it wasn't without immense effort.

Seemingly at the request of Musk, who said that she resembled the Overwatch character, "she spent two months designing and commissioning a head-to-toe costume so she could role-play for him," the biography reads.

The pair began dating in 2017, shortly after the breakdown of Heard's marriage with Johnny Depp, and it seems as if Musk's family weren't keen on her.

In the biography, Kimbal Musk, the billionaire's brother, claims that the family hated Heard "with a passion".

"It’s really sad that he falls in love with these people who are really mean to him. They’re beautiful, no question, but they have a very dark side, and Elon knows they are toxic," Kimbal said.

Curiously, this incident isn't the first time Musk has shared intimate photos of his partners without their apparent consent. Just recently, he made headlines when he disclosed a picture of his then-partner Grimes during a C-section, sharing it with friends and family.

Grimes expressed her astonishment at Musk's insensitivity, stating: "He was just clueless about why I'd be upset."

According to the biography, Musk had a secret third child with Grimes.

The new baby in their family joins their one-year-old daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl, affectionately known as Y, and their three-year-old son, X Æ A-12, while the latest addition to the Musk-Grimes clan bears the name Techno Machanicus.

Musk certainly keeps things interesting, doesn't he?
