It's been a tough year for love. After Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced their separation last summer, all of us who heralded them as "couple goals" were left disillusioned. "What is love?" we pondered during our morning commute.

Anna and Chris, who were married for eight years, took to Instagram to announce their split. “We are sad to announce we are legally separating," they stated. "We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together."

And it clearly prompted a veritable domino effect. Earlier this month, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan announced that they're calling it quits after nine years of marriage. But while we all, for a short amount of time, believed that love had been rendered terminal, in a recent interview Anna Faris revealed that it was, in fact, alive and kicking - just not in the way we expected.

In an interview in the latest issue of Women's Health, Anna Faris revealed that she and her husband still have plenty of "love" for each other and that they try to keep lines of communication open. This is, of course, for the benefit of their six-year-old son, Jack, who remains their highest priority.

"What Chris and I try to do is to communicate openly. We reiterate that there aren't rules to this," the 41-year-old stated. "We have a lot of love and friendship, and our big goal is to protect Jack. I cherish my family, my close friends, my child—that makes the rest of it worth it."
She also stressed that her divorce from Chris Pratt - who she met back in 2007 at the table read for Take Me Home Tonight - hasn't disillusioned her belief in romantic love, and the prospect of future relationships. Certainly, she's currently dating cinematographer Michael Barrett.

"I love love! Like all of us, I need a sense of human connection and intimacy, Anna asserted. "At the end of a workday I feel exposed and kind of raw. I want to be with someone I can confess to, and who can confess to me."

Well, I certainly hope that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan will pay heed to Anna's wise words. The couple, who have a five-year-old daughter together, also took to Instagram to announce their separation.

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," the 37-year-olds stated. "We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now."

"There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy.  Sending lots of love to everyone."

So there you have it. While the whole notion of "love" has seemed to be in jeopardy of late, Anna Faris proved that it's possible to have a happy and healthy relationship with your ex. Here's hoping that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan will quickly reach this conclusion too...
