Bad Bunny made a surprising move on social media after his Super Bowl performance was labeled the "worst of all time" by some critics.
The 31-year-old Puerto Rican superstar headlined the show at Levi’s Stadium during Super Bowl LX, which saw the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots 29-13.
The performance, which featured a medley of his biggest hits including 'Tití Me Preguntó,' 'MONACO,' and 'BAILE InolvidABLE,' was hailed by many as a historic moment - the first halftime show to be performed entirely in Spanish.
His set was a celebration of Latin culture, with cameos from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Pedro Pascal, Karol G, and Jessica Alba.
Critics Slam Bad Bunny's Performance
Despite being praised by many viewers, some fans took to social media to voice their frustrations about the performance, particularly the language barrier.
“Bad Bunny was terrible. Couldn’t understand one word. Not even the performance was good. Two out of 10. Probably the worst halftime show of all time,” one user wrote.
"I'm sorry but this is the worst superbowl halftime show ever. Last I checked, we speak English in the USA. I can't understand it, and there are not even English subtitles," another slammed.
"Congratulations to Bad Bunny for surpassing The Black Eyed Peas for the worst modern Super Bowl halftime show ever," a third blasted.
While many criticized the performance on multiple fronts - labeling it “woke,” “boring,” and “derivative” - others defended the artist, pointing out that the backlash said more about the audience than the show itself.
One user said the show "felt like a homecoming," adding: "Bad Bunny could have gone another route. He could have used the stage to confront. He could have named names. He could have turned the moment into a culture-war headline."
"Instead, Benito chose something far more powerful: a celebration of Latino identity as it actually lives and breathes in the United States, and in AMERICA," they shared.
Donald Trump Weighs In
President Donald Trump, who has often been critical of Bad Bunny, also took to his platform Truth Social, to blast the performance.
"The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence" he wrote.
In response to the Grammy-winning star's performance, many viewers turned to Turning Point USA, who were streaming their own "All-American Halftime Show," featuring Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
A Social Media Move That Left Fans Speculating
In the hours following his performance, Bad Bunny made a shocking move.
His Instagram account, which boasts over 51 million followers, was completely wiped clean. All of his posts, including photos and videos, as well as his profile picture, were deleted.
This unexpected move left fans and critics alike speculating about the reasons behind it.
Some believe it could be a response to the backlash on social media, with one user writing: "He already knew the GOP would rage post and Benito prevented that. Lol good for him."
Meanwhile, others think the social media purge could be a strategic move to build anticipation for new music, particularly following the success of his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, which won Album of the Year at the Grammys.
Many fans are also curious if the appearance of Gaga and Martin during the halftime show might signal a collaboration on upcoming music.
As of this writing, Bad Bunny has not shared an official explanation for why he deleted his posts.
