Britney Spears has filmed herself dancing for "freedom" following the news that her father has agreed to step down as her conservator.
The 69-year-old father of the pop icon has agreed to relinquish control of Britney's estate, according to court documents filed on Thursday, August 12.
That same day, the 39-year-old singer shared a video of herself twirling and dancing elegantly with her 33.2 million followers on Instagram - despite an apparent "broken" foot.
Watch Britney "let go" below:Spears captioned the post:
"Video from Maui [...] you can see the last dance in red top I’m very hesitant when dancing [...] but letting go is freedom !!!!
"I"m not sure exactly why I’m being so cautious ... it might be my left foot that was broken talking to me [...] !!!! You can tell when I turn but hopefully I will let go thoroughly and follow through soon !!!! [sic]"
Spears accused her father in a virtual court statement of sustained abusive behavior since he assumed control of her finances back in 2008.
She went on to allege that her father's strict rules governing her conduct meant that she was unable to bear any more children and was forced to take lithium as punishment.
In an emotional speech made to the Los Angeles Superior Court back in June, Britney compared her current situation to that of a sex trafficking victim, stating:
"I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated. I deserve to have a life, I've worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break."
She continued: "I worked seven days a week, no days off, which in California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking.
"Making anyone work against their will, taking all their possessions away - credit card, cash, phone passport - and placing them in a home where they work with the people who live with them."
Also on Thursday, Spears posted the following painting to her Instagram with no caption:
Despite attaching no statement to the post, Britney's followers were quick to celebrate the recent news in the comments section, with many jubilant over the singer's "freedom":
