Charlize Theron made an admission about her time on set with former co-star Matt Damon and how she had to suppress some thoughts about him.
The South African-American actress has never been shy about sharing her thoughts with the public, having opened up about her liberating new dating life since her divorce.
But the mom-of-two has now taken this a step further, directly speaking about one of her Odyssey co-stars and the shape they were in.
Matt Damon is known for starring in some of the biggest films of the last three decades or so, from Good Will Hunting to the Jason Bourne film series and The Martian.
But one thing about the 55-year-old that isn't spoken about much is his appearance, and Theron made sure this didn't go unnoticed.
Speaking during the film's recent world premiere in London, Theron didn't hold back.
Theron, 50, was asked about "the shape" that Damon was in for The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan's latest film, and she was candid with her reply about her married co-star.
“I made this movie with him… I’ve seen him without all of that suit on,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
She took a moment to think before adding: “It’s weird. I’m, like, staring at him weirdly. I’m looking at his a**.”
The Mad Max actress joked that she had to stop herself as she "shouldn't do that" as "that's just wrong," but further praised how "amazing" Damon looks.
Theron plays Calypso, and Damon is Odysseus in Nolan's latest blockbuster, which hit cinemas last week, and it isn't the first time the pair have worked together.
They starred in The Legend of Bagger Vance with Will Smith in 2000, and Theron told the Today show that reuniting with Damon was "sentimental".
She explained: “We did the first take, and I just went, ‘Oh my God, we did this when we were babies, and here we are, two old humans,'
“[He’s] just one of my favorite people... it’s rare that you get to do something like that, you know, to experience the same experience, like 30 years later, and with someone as great and as wonderful,” the Oscar winner admitted.
She went on: “He’s just good people. He’s lovely people to be around, and we’re all so happy for him that he got this opportunity [to play the titular role]. A better man couldn’t have gotten it.”
Damon started to date then-bartender Luciana Barroso in 2003, before tying the knot two years later.
The pair have since welcomed three daughters, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15, and are going strong after over two decades of marriage.
The actor also adopted his partner's daughter Alexia, 27, from a previous partner, admitting to People that family dinners are a "non-negotiable."
Speaking on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast in July 2025, Theron opened up about sleeping with a man in his 20s, despite being 24 years older.
She explained: "I'm sounding very cocky here, but I think it's because I found this freedom in my forties, where I'm like, 'Oh my god,' so I just want to say this in perspective.
"I've probably had three one-night stands in my entire life, but I did just recently f*** a 26-year-old and it was really f****** amazing and I've never done that and I was like, 'Oh, this is great okay.'"
"Let me just say that 26-year-old is the luckiest f****** man walking on this god damn planet," Cooper responded. "He's walking different today knowing."
"He is for sure is not, but thank you," Theron added.
She also admitted: "I sound like I'm sitting here sounding like I do. So when I do, I'm like, 'Oh, f*** yeah, I should have done this in my 20s.'"

Charlize Theron has spoken unreservedly about what she does and doesn’t want to do in the future following an unlikely romp with a 26-year-old.
While we have become accustomed to watching Hollywood heartthrob Theron getting intimate on-screen, her personal relations have always been left to the imagination… until now.
Theron, 50, appeared on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast last year to promote her new film The Old Guard 2, with the revered actor revealing how she had recently canoodled with a man 24 years her junior.
"I almost choked. I am the last person to ask," Theron said, when Cooper, 30, asked her for her best sex tip, after a prolonged conversation about her approach to dating these days.
"I'm sounding very cocky here, but I think it's because I found this freedom in my forties, where I'm like, 'Oh my god,' so I just want to say this in perspective. I've probably had three one night stands in my entire life, but I did just recently f*** a 26-year-old and it was really f****** amazing and I've never done that and I was like, 'Oh, this is great okay.' "
"Let me just say that 26-year-old is the luckiest f****** man walking on this god damn planet," Cooper responded. "He's walking different today knowing."
"He is for sure is not, but thank you," Theron added.
Theron, who is enjoying a career renaissance, having appeared in a series of box office flops in recent years, is the mother of two daughters, Jackson and August, but has been publicly single for over a decade, having last dated fellow actor Sean Penn, before the couple parted ways in 2015.
Theron also established that while one-night rendezvous are a rarity for her, she is happy to have them.
"I sound like I'm sitting here sounding like I do. So when I do, I'm like, 'Oh, f*** yeah, I should have done this in my 20s,' " Theron said of casual sex.
She continued: "I was married from the time that I was, like, having sex to the time that I had my last relationship. Then I had children. Who has f****** time for dates and shaving and waxing and makeup? And, like, I've got two children that have to go to school."
While Theron did not share any more information concerning her recent 26-year-old date, she expressed a desire for women to prioritize their own pleasure in bed more frequently. "I think this is kind of like a thread throughout our conversation," she said.
"Women who come across as confident, women who come across as outspoken, ones that wouldn't speak up for themselves tend to also be in bed, people who want to please males. Like, and I have found this in my experiences with talking to other women about this. Isn't it strange? We should be the ones that are like, 'F*** you. I'm gonna have an orgasm,'" she added.
Away from her sex life, it was another topic of conversation that had people shocked.
In a separate discussion with Drew Barrymore, Theron stated: "I really mean this—people think I joke—I don’t think I could ever live with somebody again. I’m not sure I can.”
"I would love for [a partner] to be close," she continued. "Like, buy the house down the street."
While she has not completely ruled out the possibility of living with a significant other, she maintained that he daughters and family will always take precedence over a romantic connection.
“Maybe it's because I still have my daughters in the house, and maybe that will change when I'm an empty nester, but I'm looking for something very specific,” she said.

In the upcoming movie Long Shot, Seth Rogen plays a journalist who begins spending time with his former babysitter, who also happens to be the US Secretary of State, played by Charlize Theron. The two begin dating, which many people would consider a "long shot' based on their physical appearances. Charlize Theron is one of the most beautiful people in the world, while Seth Rogen...uh...has a great personality.
You'd think that in real life, a stunning celebrity like Theron would have no problem landing dates. However, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she revealed that she hasn't been in a relationship for a surprisingly long time. "I've been single for ten years - it's not a long shot," Theron said. "Somebody just needs to grow a pair and step up. I'm shockingly available...I've made it very clear."

The Atomic Blonde star is exaggerating a bit, since she began dating Sean Penn in 2013 and they were briefly engaged to be married. The couple broke up in 2015, so, really, Theron's been single for four years, but maybe it just feels like a decade. Or maybe Sean Penn was just an extremely forgettable lover. (Yeah! Sick burn on you, Sean Penn! Looks like your 'Milk' has gone sour!)
When asked why she remains unattached, Theron explained that she waits for men to make the first move, but they're not always willing. Well, good news! After the interview was published, several men sprinkled Miracle-Gro in their underpants, sprouted enormous pairs of testicles, and asked Theron out in the comment section of her latest Instagram photo - the perfect place for love.
"Boy am I ready to date you, you are in my dream all the time," wrote @kakoli61.
"If you like chubby, funny, down to earth guys from the mid west.. im your guy.. just let me know when your free...," wrote @fefjowler.

"I have loved you forever. There is no one out there good enough. Just standing tall in his big boy pants is not for you. Hold you and keep you forever is all I wish for you. I am married but that does not stop me from saying how bright and beautiful you are. Hey, it needs to be a forever man," wrote @whitehorse765

Ur heart, the only thing in this world I ever wish to own. Ur laugh is the only laugh I ever want to hear. Ur kiss is the only kiss I would ever revere. Ur eyes r the only eyes I ever wish to gaze. Well, that's five great options right there!

Also, Charlize - I know you're reading this, while at home with your cats, because you're a pathetic single person - just wondering, are you not aware of Tinder? Or Bumble? Or Raya, "the public network for people in creative communities," which is used by many celebrities for dating purposes? I bet you'd get dates, even if you cosplayed as your Monster character!

You know how it is. One minute you're deciding to take a break from work, the next minute a generational director is calling you, offering you a major role in his upcoming blockbuster. What are you going to do?
OK, so maybe none of us have ever experienced this exact dilemma, but it accurately describes the journey Matt Damon took to becoming Leslie Groves in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.
The 52-year-old, who also recently starred in Nike-based biography Air, has recently revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he was discussing with his wife Luciana Barroso about taking a break from acting.
But there was one condition that Damon negotiated to allow him back in front of the camera before the break was over.
"This is going to sound made up, but it's actually true," Damon explained, "I had - not to get too personal - negotiated extensively with my wife that I was taking time off.
"I had been in Interstellar, and then Chris put me on ice for a couple of movies, so I wasn't in the rotation, but I actually negotiated in couples therapy - this is a true story - the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called."
We wonder what happened next...
"This is without knowing whether or not he was working on anything because he never tells you. He just calls you out of the blue. And so, it was a moment in my household."
So, as a result of said phone call, Damon found himself portraying Groves, the general who oversaw the Manhattan Project, where the United States' atomic bombs were created ahead of being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan at the close of World War Two.
Damon's co-star in the film, Cillian Murphy, who plays the titular Oppenheimer, confirmed that Nolan's method of calling actors out of the blue was in fact his preferred method of approaching them for roles.
"Chris' way of operating is that he just calls you out of the blue. I genuinely had no idea. He said he was making a movie about Oppenheimer and he said, 'I'd like you to play Oppenheimer.' I had to sit down. It was kind of overwhelming."
It is an approach that Nolan says is "a fun way to do it", although it isn't without its problems.
"It means that it's very difficult to call you to go out to dinner or something. Because every time you answer the phone it's like, what is it going to be?", explained the director.
As for Damon, his 2023 isn't over with Oppenheimer. He will also be starring in Ethan Coen's Drive Away Dolls, which is released in September. He is also confirmed to be lending his voice to John Krasinski's Imaginary Friends, although we will have to wait until May 2024 for that one.
Presumably, both of those projects were signed off before his now infamous couples therapy session.

After Charlize Theron spoke unreservedly about dating younger men and enjoying a new sense of freedom later in life, including a coital exchange with a man 20 years her junior, and she isn't the first celebrity to have entertained younger men...
The term 'cougar' was coined for women who are romantically involved with younger males, with many seeing it as an opportunity to get a new lease of life.
While audiences are used to seeing the revered actress in steamy on-screen roles, she has historically kept her private life out of the spotlight. However, during an appearance on Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, Theron spoke openly about sex, dating, and confidence in her 40s.
When Cooper asked her for her best sex advice, Theron joked: “I almost choked. I am the last person to ask.”
The 50-year-old went on to explain how her outlook on relationships has evolved over time. “I'm sounding very cocky here, but I think it's because I found this freedom in my forties, where I'm like, 'Oh my god,'” she said.
Theron then stunned listeners with a candid admission about a recent encounter with a younger man. “I've probably had three one night stands in my entire life, but I did just recently f*** a 26-year-old and it was really f****** amazing and I've never done that and I was like, 'Oh, this is great okay.'”
Cooper responded jokingly: “Let me just say that 26-year-old is the luckiest f****** man walking on this god damn planet.”
Theron laughed off the comment, replying: “He is for sure is not, but thank you.”
The actress, who shares daughters Jackson and August, has largely stayed out of the public dating scene since splitting from Sean Penn in 2015. She also admitted casual relationships are rare for her, adding: “So when I do, I'm like, 'Oh, f*** yeah, I should have done this in my 20s.'”
Jennifer Coolidge previously revealed that her role as “Stifler’s Mom” in American Pie dramatically changed her dating life.
Speaking with Ariana Grande for Entertainment Weekly, Coolidge said: “It helped my dating life in a way that I can't ever explain.”
Reflecting on the attention she received after the movie, she added: “If I hadn't had that movie, I don't think… Well, let's just say it would've been a very dull decade.”
Coolidge also recalled one particularly awkward experience involving a younger partner. “This one guy was particularly young — legal, of course, it was all very legal,” she said. “I won't get into the details. But afterwards, the next morning, I told him I needed to get a blow dry. So he was so young, we called his mother to see where I could get a blow dry.”
Meanwhile, Demi Moore has long faced public attention for dating younger men. Reports recently linked her to Andrew Garfield following their viral interaction at the Golden Globes.
A source claimed: “While Demi isn’t looking to settle down, having someone in her life who she can enjoy some romance with while also connecting on a deeper level would really do her good.”
The insider added: “She and Andrew have a huge physical attraction… Andrew is just her type – he’s tall, fit, and thinks outside of the box.”
Halle Berry has also been linked to younger partners over the years. Commenting on her relationship with music producer Alex da Kid, TV personality Bevy Smith joked: “He’s a younger, tasty gentleman.”
Madonna has also spoken openly about dating younger men and the double standards surrounding it. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she addressed public fascination with her relationships.
When asked about the youngest man she had dated in recent years, Madonna replied: “The youngest was — in the last six years — 22, yeah.”
Questioning why people are so focused on age gaps, she said: “Why is everyone so obsessed?”
She also pointed out the difference in how society reacts to men dating younger women versus women dating younger men: “Men date younger women all the time and nobody says anything about it. What's wrong with women dating younger men?”

Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is as outspoken as they come in Hollywood. When she's not educating people on the basic concept of letting your own children determine their gender identity for themselves, she is scolding TV presenters for disregarding people's right to consent to being kissed.
The latter incident took place recently in a TV interview - 44-year-old Cyris Hanouna being the offending presenter.
This is the moment Charlize Theron scolded a French TV presenter for kissing a female interpreter without asking:
[[jwplayerwidget||https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/w3LS1vDc-dkXnENEs.mp4||w3LS1vDc]]
Theron appeared on the show, known as Touche Pas A Mon Poste, with her Long Shot co-star Seth Rogen, who responded with a simple "yes", in agreement with the Monster actress' reproach of the presenter.
It appears there had been some sort of difficulties with translation and communication from the start of the interview. So Hanouna decided to ask the interpreters to make their way over to his A-list guests.
The 43-year-old mom-of-two was evidently uncomfortable when Hanouna planted a kiss on the cheek of the interpreter, known as Nadia.
"Maybe ask next time?" she suggested without a hint of hesitation.
This simple yet powerful statement garnered the actress a great deal of praise from fans who commended Theron for standing up for the interpreter.
The awkward moment has since gone viral, accumulating millions of views on Twitter. Plenty of people took to the micro-blogging site to condemn the presenter's impulsive peck:

But not everyone agreed with the backlash. In fact, some people went as far as to defend the French presenter.

And this certainly isn't the first time the show has come under fire for engaging in 'sexism'.
During one controversial episode, a man kissed a woman's breasts non-consensually which resulted in her filing a complaint for sexual assault.
