The Weeknd recently shocked the world by unveiling his dramatic new "plastic surgery" look and now fans are speculating that it's a reference to his ex, Bella Hadid.
The 'Blinding Lights' singer unveiled the look in the music video for 'Save Your Tears', which premiered earlier this month.
"But then you saw me, caught you by surprise," he aptly sings while sporting a thinned (and crooked) nose, bloated cheeks, puffed-up lips, and surgery scars among a variety of other new disturbing new features.
Watch the video for 'Save Your Tears' below:Now, shocked fans are speculating why the singer decided to go for such a drastic look in the video, and some have concluded that the look is a reference to his supermodel ex, Bella Hadid.
One Twitter user wrote: "he got surgery to look like Bella Hadid I think [sic]."
Another Twitter user wrote: "the weeknd is definitely bashing bella hadid with the whole plastic surgery themes [sic]."
Alongside a skull emoji, a third wrote: "i just need to know what bella hadid did to the weeknd that he ended up hating her this much [sic]."
People have been speculating about whether or not Hadid has had plastic surgery for years.
During a 2018 interview with InStyle, Hadid denied ever having plastic surgery saying: "People think I got all this surgery or did this or that. And you know what? We can do a scan of my face, darling. I'm scared of putting fillers into my lips. I wouldn't want to mess up my face."
The Weeknd implied something was happening to his face with bandages at the American Music Awards:The Weeknd's appearance is not the only reason why people believe he is referring to Hadid. Attention has also been drawn to the lyrics of 'Escape from LA', which read: "LA girls all look the same / I can't recognize / The same work done on they face".
A later lyric reads, "She got Chrome Hearts hangin' from her neck".
Why is this significant? We hear you ask. Well, Hadid was raised in LA and has worked with the brand Chrome Hearts on a number of occasions - she's even released a collection with them.
However, other fans believe that the "plastic surgery" look is simply a part of the overall concept that he created for the album.
One Twitter user wrote: "No he has been appearing at awards shows with fake injuries. Those are prosthetics to simulate plastic surgery. Its a part of the theatre he created for this album [sic]."

The Weeknd has shocked his fans by removing the bandages he sported late last year to show off a drastic new look in his latest music video.
The 30-year-old 'Blinding Lights' singer sported facial prosthetics to create the illusion of extreme plastic surgery in the new music video for his track 'Save Your Tears'.
The video, which premiered Tuesday, is from The Weeknd's After Hours album.
This comes after the singer left fans momentarily concerned at the American Music Awards in November when he appeared on stage with much of his face and head wrapped in bandages.

Unsurprisingly, fans were very much shaken by the singer's drastic new look, and they took to social media to express their shock.
"Why does The Weeknd look like that in the Save Your Tears music video!?! I don't like it," wrote one horrified fan on Twitter.

Another joked at the after-effects of the prosthetics with a line from the singer's 2018 hit 'Can't Feel My Face', writing: "i bet he really cant feel his face now [sic]."

Meanwhile, a third fan speculated that the singer had chosen such a dramatic look to throw "shade" at the Grammy's for his lack of nominations.

But Michael Jackson comparisons aside, other social media users suggested that The Weeknd could now take up alternative lines of work thanks to his new appearance, like portraying the Batman villain The Joker.

The New York Post reports that they reached out to The Weeknd's representatives to discover whether or not his dramatic new look was the result of prosthetics or CGI, but they did not immediately respond.
The news outlet, however, did not that the singer is no stranger to the use of prosthetics and previously worked with Prosthetic Renaissance, who have taken credit for the music video transformation on social media.

This dramatic new look comes prior to The Weeknd's performance at the 2021 Superbowl, which will take place on February 7.

Bella Hadid has been praised for bravely opening up about her mental-health struggles in a candid Instagram post, sharing a series of close-up photos of herself in tears.
The 25-year-old supermodel said she was inspired to publicly share her experience with anxiety and depression after watching a video of her friend Willow Smith speaking candidly about her own insecurities.
"I Love you and your words. It made me feel a little less alone and that's why I'd like to post this," she wrote in the caption, addressing Smith directly.
She then transcribed Smith's words in the video, writing: "That feeling of thinking that you're good enough or being insecure about your art- is natural- but at the same time, I feel like it's taught. All humans are different, every single human has something so special and unique to offer."
Per BBC, she went on: "People forget that everyone is basically feeling the same way: lost, confused, not really sure why they're here. That anxiety, like, everyone is feeling that - and trying to cover it up in some way.
"We're gonna come together in our flaws. In our insecurities, in our joy, in our happiness, and accept it all as beautiful and natural. "
Hadid then shared her own personal story alongside several photos of herself crying.
"This is pretty much my every day, every night For a few years now," the model told her 47 million Instagram followers.
"Social media is not real. For anyone struggling, please remember that. Sometimes all you've gotta hear is that you're not alone. So from me to you, you're not alone. I love you, I see you, and I hear you.
"Self-help and mental illness/chemical imbalance is not linear and it is almost like a flowing rollercoaster of obstacles… it has its ups and downs, and side to sides," she wrote.
Hadid went on to say that "there is always light at the end of the tunnel," although it's been challenging for her to remember that "it does get better."
"I've had enough breakdowns and burnouts to know this: if you work hard enough on yourself, spending time alone to understand your traumas, triggers, joys, and routine, you will always be able to understand or learn more about your own pain and how to handle it. Which is all that you can ask of yourself. Anyways," she wrote.
She finished by saying that it feels "harder and harder to not share my truth" on her account. "Thank you for seeing me and thank you for listening. I love you."

You might be able to get away with throwing a little shade from time to time, but it's a somewhat different when you're a celebrity. Every time you diss someone, even in the most subtle way, you will soon see that your fans have immediately figured out. So why not just go for it, like these celebs did when they absolutely burned their exes.
1. Drake and Rihanna
Drake attended a New Year's Eve party with his then-rumored flame girlfriend. In the early hours of 2017, he made the DJ change the song when Rihanna's 'Work' came on. "That was an old vibe," he reportedly said.
2. Perrie Edwards and Zayn
Fans have deduced that Little Mix's 'Shout Out to My Ex' is almost definitely about Zayn. "I hope she gettin' better sex / Hope she ain’t fakin’ it like I did, babe" is pretty brutal in itself. The lyrics also included “Guess I should say thank you / For the ‘hate yous’ and the tattoos / Oh baby, I’m cool by the way / Ain’t sure I loved you anyway" - a reference to Zayn's Perrie tattoo, which has since been altered.

3. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber
At one point, Justin threatened to shut down all his social media when fans criticised him for a photo of then-girlfriend Sofia Richie back in 2016, after his split with Selena. Gomez later commented: "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol". In response, he wrote, "It's funny t see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad."
4. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
In a performance in Tokyo, Mariah changed the lyrics of Billie Holiday song 'Don't Explain' from "And I know you cheat / right or wrong, don't matter" to the more direct "I know you cheated, motherf*cker".
5. Gregg Sulkin and Bella Thorne
After their split, Bella started making headlines with Tyler Posey in 2016. Just as the photos surfaced, Gregg tweeted: "Who doesn't enjoy watching entertainment at the circus?" and "Children want attention".

6. Britney and Justin Timberlake
Speaking to Rolling Stone in 2011, Britney spoke about the 'Cry Me A River' music video, which starred her lookalike alongside Timberlake. "I think it looks like such a desperate attempt, personally," she said. "But that was a great way to sell the record. He's smart [laughs]. Smart guy."
7. Amber Rose and Kanye West
In one of the most memorable tweets to have hit the internet, Rose wrote: "Awww @kanyewest are u mad I'm not around to play in ur asshole anymore? #FingersInTheBootyAssBitch". The rapper later responded: "Exes can be mad but just know I never let them play with my ass. I don’t do that… I stay away from that area all together".

8. John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston
In a now-infamous interview with Playboy, Mayer said:
"If Jennifer Aniston knows how to use BitTorrent I’ll eat my fucking shoe [...] The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she’s still hoping it goes back to 1998. She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction. And I always said, 'These are the new rules.'"
9. Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney
"I think women love very hard," Gaga told CBS Sunday Morning when talking about their relationship. "We just love with everything we have. And sometimes I don’t know that that love is met with the type of dignity that we wish it would be met with. You know, we’re not trying to make you less of a man. We just want you to love us as deeply and as wholesomely and as fully as we love you."
10. Lana Del Ray and G-Eazy
While performing in Denver earlier this year, Del Ray made a slight change to the song 'White Mustang', which is supposedly about G-Eazy. She changed the line "Couldn't stop the way I was feeling the day your record dropped" to "Couldn't stop the way I was feeling the day his record dropped," adding, "and it wasn't even that good".

Jennifer Lawrence has spoken out against the rumors that she has undergone plastic surgery.
During a conversation with Kylie Jenner for Interview magazine, the 33-year-old Hunger Games star opened up about cosmetic surgery speculation she's faced recently.
On the topic of her makeup empire, the Kylie Cosmetics founder told Lawrence that she created her famous lip kits because of her desire to have "big, fat, juicy lips," and had been overlining them to achieve that fullness.
The Academy-Award-winning actress then responded by accrediting her new look - which had many people assuming she had work done to her face - to makeup techniques and time.
"That’s really, really cool," the Silver Linings Playbook lead told the 26-year-old beauty mogul.
"And I also think it’s incredible what makeup can do because I work with Hung [Vanngo], who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon because everybody in the last few months since I’ve been working with him, is convinced that I had eye surgery," she added.
Shocked by the comment, Jenner responded: "Stop," but Lawrence wasn’t kidding, as she proclaimed: "I’m like: 'I didn’t have eye surgery. I’m doing makeup.'
"Well, apparently, I’ve had full plastic surgery," Lawrence quipped, referring to the accusations that began after she stepped out for the Dior Fashion Show in September.
Despite many social media users suggesting she had gotten filler in her lips and a nose job, the No Hard Feelings actress pointed out the fact that it’s completely normal for your face to change as you get older.
"I started at 19, so I get the before and after pictures from when I’m 19 to 30 and I’m like, 'I grew up. I lost baby weight in my face, and my face changed because I’m aging,'" she explained.
Jenner, who also famously started over-lining her lips as a teenager to make them appear "fuller", explained how her experience with makeup has also changed as she's grown older and shared her frustrations with people making assumptions about her looks.
"I’ll see before and after photos when I’m 12 years old versus 26 and my eyebrows are filled differently. I have contour on. I’m like, 'How can you compare my 12-year-old face and say I’ve gotten my jaw shaved and eyelids removed?' I’m like, 'What are we talking about?'", she said.
While this is the first time that Lawrence has addressed the plastic surgery allegations publicly, Jenner has been fighting off the rumors for years.
In an episode of her famous family's reality TV show, The Kardashians, the mom-of-two hit back at the claims that she’s changed her 'whole face' through surgery.
"One of the biggest misconceptions about me is that I was this insecure child and I got so much surgery to change my whole face, which is false," she said on an episode of their Hulu show. "I’ve only gotten fillers. I don’t want that to be part of my story."
The social media personality - who boasts over 399 million followers on Instagram - maintained that she has always been extremely confident and would never do anything to drastically alter her appearance - especially now that she has a daughter.
