A former Disney Channel actor has opened up about the ins and outs - pun intended - of her new career in the adult industry.
If you grew up watching Boy Meets World, you'll probably be familiar with the actress, who featured in seasons six and seven.
Appearing in films such as Dish Dogs and White Chicks, Maitland Ward had a decent career in the TV & Film industry before pivoting to something more lucrative and NSFW.
You may recognise her as Rachel McGuire in the aforementioned Disney show, which was her breakout role, though this was over 25 years ago.
She has previously revealed that some of her former Disney co-stars have been supportive of her new venture, though many have distanced themselves.
Now, Ward has featured in a number of pornographic videos, and posts explicit snaps of herself on social media.
Ward was a guest on Ryan Sickler's The Honeydew podcast, and opened up about the realities of her career.
She admitted that getting into the industry wasn't straightforward, after having some tricky conversations with her husband, though admitted that he was 'very supportive' in the end.
Ward explained that she had been "very sheltered" when she was young, and that there "were things I really wanted to try and do."
One of these things seemed to be a venture into the adult industry, though she clarified: "In this adult space, first of all, you're tested for any STDs, all the time. You're with professionals. You're in a setup that you've okayed and consented on, and made the rules and everything."
The adult actress revealed that you can put restrictions in, as the host listed: "Ahead of time you're like, 'can't c*m in me, can't smack my face,' so you lay out all your rules out."
"That's how it is with any porn scene," Ward said.
She added: "Yeah, you have to have all the consent and all the no's and yes's, and these things are more money," Ward pointed out, confirming that things like an anal sex scene would pay more.
She admitted she was 'nervous as hell' for her first scene, when asked by Sickler.
Ward recalled: "The first time I actually had full sex on camera with a guy was with a British guy, a great guy.
"If it wouldn't have gone so well with him cause he was just funny, because my husband and him were talking beforehand."
"He comes to the room, he's joking, he's fun and then we get into it and then it just flows.
"The whole thing just happens and at the end of it he said to me, 'I thought you were going to be nervous.'"
Ward also explained that she picked him to be her first on-screen partner after a recommendation from a different adult actress.

An adult star has opened up about her work and an interesting clause that is inserted into her contracts.
For years, Maitland Ward was best known as Rachel McGuire on Boy Meets World — but six years after leaving Hollywood for the adult industry, the former Disney star says she’s never felt more empowered, respected, or in control of her career.
Ward began acting in the 1990s, first appearing on The Bold and the Beautiful before moving on to shows like Boy Meets World and films including White Chicks and Dish Dogs.
By 2019, however, she left mainstream acting behind in favor of a career in p*rnography — a decision she says has transformed her life and career.
"I really think people treat me with more respect now, honestly, especially even in Hollywood right now," Ward previously told Fox News.
"I'm pitching my memoir into a TV format and talking with people. They're so respectful, and they're so positive about my story, especially younger people and different people that I speak to in Hollywood and stuff."
According to Ward, the support she received when she made the switch was unexpectedly overwhelming.
"I didn't get anybody coming out hating me for it or anything," she told Fox News Digital. "I really got a lot of positivity overall, which shocked everyone I knew. Everybody thought people were just going to rip me apart, and I was going to be judged and raked across the coals, but I got so much positivity and I think it's because I was so positive about it, and I was so happy about it."
In her 2022 memoir, Rated X: How P*rn Liberated Me from Hollywood (also published under the title My Escape from Hollywood: Unapologetic, Unfiltered, and Unashamed), Ward described her transition as a way to finally live as her authentic self.
"I think it’s an empowering story for women and everyone really," she said at the time. "It’s about living your truth and not listening to what everyone is telling you to do. For so long, Hollywood was telling me that I could only be a certain way.
"The industry wanted to keep me in some box. I reached a point where I just wanted to do my own thing. I’m now my authentic self."
While many might assume p*rn sets are chaotic, Ward insists the reality is quite the opposite.
"People think a p*rn set is like some wild orgy 24/7 but it’s not — it’s more controlled than you could imagine," she revealed to The Sun.
"All the sexual positions have to be agreed on, written down, in black and white. You agree in writing to have sex on film and exactly what that sex will be."
She added: "You have to say you’re not under the influence of anything or anyone. Even the celebrity sex tapes these days, if that film is in a store being sold with a cover and everything, then they would have had to agree to that."
Ward also stressed the importance of boundaries.
"In the sets I have always been on, if you say no, the rule is the filming stops with no questions asked," she explained, adding that she has "never ever in a million years been pressured to do anything I didn't want to" by a director or co-star.
For Ward, collaborating with other women in the industry has been especially rewarding. "I'm creating full-length movies. I'm doing things like making projects that I really feel passionate about," she said.
"I work with a female director, who has been amazing. And I think people are always surprised by that, that two women are creating these long erotic, p*rnographic art pieces. And I think that's really special."

An ex-Disney star who is now working as an adult film actress has opened up about a clause that had to be added into her contract.
Maitland Ward, 48, the former Boy Meets World star, transitioned into the adult entertainment world in 2019 and has revealed what working in the industry is really like, shedding light on the lesser-known clauses written into her contracts, and challenging widespread misconceptions.
Many people imagine the porn world as a cesspool of sleazy men, chaotic orgies, and women being pressured into uncomfortable situations. But Ward says her own experience couldn’t be more different.
Ward, who began her adult film career in 2019 and was named XBIZ Porn Performer of the Year in 2022, addressed these stereotypes in the wake of the 2021 movie Pleasure.
The film, directed by Swedish feminist Ninja Thyberg, dramatizes the darker side of porn, telling the story of Bella Cherry (played by Sofia Kappel), a young woman who grapples with anxiety and coercion before filming her first scene.
In the movie, male crew members are portrayed as predatory and unprofessional, ogling the performers and making them feel uneasy. Ward, however, says the reality she’s seen on set is the polar opposite.
The actress insists most people behind the camera are simply doing their jobs and are hardly titillated by what they’re filming.
“Most of the guys are so bored with it, they’ve seen it all a million times,” she told The Sun. “They’re probably thinking about lunch or picking the kids up from school. Honestly, nobody is staring at you drooling. There aren’t creepy guys jerking off in the corner, it’s a professional environment. We enjoy it, but ultimately, it’s work.”
Ward began her acting career in the 90s on The Bold and the Beautiful, but it was her role on Boy Meets World from 1998 to 2000 that made her a familiar face.
Later, she says she was dismissed by Hollywood as being “too old to be sexy,” which motivated her to pivot to adult films.
Despite what people assume, Ward insists she’s never once been pressured to do anything she didn’t fully consent to.
“I have never, ever in a million years been pressured to do something I didn’t want to do by any male director or performer,” she said. “On the sets I work on, if you say no, filming stops immediately, no questions asked.”
She explained that modern porn contracts are designed to protect performers and ensure that every detail is agreed upon beforehand. “People think a porn set is some wild, nonstop orgy, but it’s actually more structured than you’d believe,” she continued. “Every sexual position is negotiated in advance and put in writing. You sign a document confirming exactly what you consent to do on camera.”
Performers must also certify that they aren’t under the influence of any substances or pressure from anyone else. “Even those so-called celebrity sex tapes, if you see them being sold in a store with a cover and everything, you better believe they signed off on it,” she noted.
Ward also emphasized the physical demands of the job, saying performers often need breaks, hydration, and stamina to keep going. “Believe me, it’s hard work. If you’re doing a 45-minute acrobatic scene with two guys, it’s exhausting,” she said. “It’s like a choreographed dance routine, like ice skaters performing for an audience.”
Off camera, Ward is married to Terry Baxter, a real estate agent who fully supports her career. She also revealed that contrary to the public’s assumptions, she isn’t constantly sleeping with an endless parade of men.
“My girlfriends tease me, saying, ‘Oh my God, you must be having sex with all these different guys every day.’ But let me tell you, there are maybe 15 top male performers in the business, and you end up working with the same ones over and over,” she explained. “There really isn’t that much variety.”

Maitland Ward, who rose to fame as Rachel McGuire on the hit Disney-era sitcom Boy Meets World, has revealed that her decision to move into the adult entertainment industry has brought her unprecedented financial success and personal freedom.
Now 45, Ward says the move was never about chasing money – even though her earnings have far surpassed her Hollywood paychecks.
Ward became a familiar face to audiences in the late 1990s and early 2000s through Boy Meets World, one of Disney’s most popular shows of the era.
After stepping away from mainstream acting, she gradually began sharing more provocative content online, which ultimately led her down a very different career path.
Over the past several years, Ward transitioned fully into adult film acting, working with major adult platforms and building a strong direct-to-fan presence online.
In her memoir Rated X, Ward explains that while she earned good money during her years in television and film, it pales in comparison to what she makes today.
She says her current income can be up to 10 times higher than what she earned in Hollywood.
A significant portion comes from OnlyFans, where she reportedly brings in six figures per month.
In addition, she earns five figures monthly from a sex toy partnership and receives another six-figure annual payment through a contract with adult site Deeper.
Ward joins a growing list of adult performers who have used the industry to achieve financial security, with some (like Riley Reid) openly crediting their careers for allowing them to purchase multi-million-dollar homes.
Despite the financial upside, Ward insists money was never the primary motivation behind her career shift.
Instead, she was drawn to the control and autonomy that adult content creation offered.
She says the appeal was being able to decide exactly what she shared, how it was produced, and how it was distributed – something she never fully experienced in traditional acting.
“I wanted total control over what comes in and what goes out,” Ward explains, via Indy100, adding that she initially focused on authenticity rather than monetization.
Ward’s transition began after she posted risqué photos on social media platforms, many of which were removed.
Fans then encouraged her to launch a Patreon account, which quickly proved successful.
Within the first week, she attracted roughly 2,800 subscribers paying anywhere from $15 to $300 per month.
From there, her online presence expanded rapidly, eventually leading her to OnlyFans and adult film projects.
Beyond the financial rewards, Ward says her new career has made her feel more confident and liberated.
She describes the shift as empowering, allowing her to embrace her identity on her own terms – something she says was harder to achieve within the constraints of Hollywood.

Former Disney actress-turned-adult movie star Maitland Ward is being sued for $270,000 by a former adult co-star and videographer.
This comes after the 43-year-old made the announcement that she would be moving into the world of adult movies last year after making a name for herself playing Rachel in the 90s TV show Boy Meets World. Ward has even claimed that she makes more money making X-rated movies than she ever did with Disney.

However, TMZ has revealed that her new venture is far from running smoothly as she is currently being sued by a reality TV and adult entertainment actress and a videographer/editor for failing to pay them for a deal they cut back in 2018.

However, in a statement to Fox News, Ward slammed the suit, saying: "I have not seen or worked with either of the two people making these accusations since June of 2019. Each time prior to that time period, both were compensated for their time and efforts in creating adult content that both parties used and shared on our paid platforms.
"This story of selling a video is false. I decided to go professional as of July 2019, and no longer work with either of these two individuals, or any amateurs for that matter.
"The fact that these long time friends have gotten together after so many months to sue me is complete slander and immoral. There are zero contracts and agreements that have any info pertaining to this completely made-up story."
She concluded: "I find their current actions highly suspicious, taking place during an industry shutdown, that this lawsuit is being published now from work done over 2 years ago. This serves as a warning to all Adult Film Stars to be careful of outsiders that you work with. Anyone can make up lies in order to go through the efforts to extort money from you."
Ward also told TMZ that the lawsuit is nothing more than "slander" and "immoral", adding: "There are zero contracts and agreements that have any info pertaining to this completely made-up story."

The former Disney star also labeled the lawsuit as "a joke and warning to all porn stars to be careful who you shoot with on the outside".
According to TMZ, Ward and the unnamed actress and videographer began working together in 2017. This resulted in Ward allegedly hooking up with the actress off-screen.

But, per the lawsuit documents, the relationship soon went sour... as did a deal they say they cut with Maitland around September 2018 that was supposed to result in a considerable payday.
Ward is now being sued for keeping the money they allegedly agreed to split. The actress is seeking $180,000 and the videographer is seeking $90,000 as well as other damages.

Prepare to have some essence of your childhood destroyed.
For any kid growing up in the 90s, Disney's Boy Meets World was must-watch television. Running for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000, the show followed Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and his friends as they navigate their teenage lives and face the issues that many teens face.
Joining the cast in 1998, actress Maitland Ward became a prominent character on the show as Rachel McGuire, who joined the show as Eric and Jack's new roommate.

After starring in 45 episodes of the hit teen comedy, Ward went on to have one-part roles in a handful of TV shows and movies like White Chicks, but never really found success on our screens. That was until earlier this year when the former Disney star transitioned in the adult movie industry.
Now, the 42-year-old actress has spoken to The Daily Beast about her career change, the money she earns, and her recent nominations at the AVN Awards (the adult industry's equivalent to the Oscars.)
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/B3e9ML7HsR0/]]
After several years of modeling and sharing snaps of her risqué cosplay, Ward has revealed that the move into the x-rated industry has been enjoyable, saying: "I thought I’d be more nervous, but I wasn’t. It’s been way easier and I’ve enjoyed it so much more than I’d expected. And I’m good at it. It feels natural to me. If you talked to my younger, more virginal soap-opera self, I never would have seen this coming out of me."
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/B6I-R52nO9q/]]
Ward revealed how her publicist at the time would beg her not to post sexy pictures on social media, and encouraged her to audition for the role of a "Disney mom".
"I was typecast. I was seen as a wholesome comedy star, and I was trying to fight against that. I didn’t want to play a Disney mom," Ward revealed.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/B5i8yBynBxU/]]
After discovering her loyal following enjoyed her sexy cosplay pics - she now has over a million followers on Instagram - Ward revealed how she made money through selling adult content on apps and sites like OnlyFans and Patreon.

"For 2018, I was the No. 1 adult-content creator for Patreon, and it put the power back in my hands. Studios wouldn’t give me that," she said. Ward revealed to The Daily Beast she can make as much as five figures per month on OnlyFans alone - raking in $62,000 in her best month during 2018.
In fact, Ward revealed she's making more money now than she ever did with Disney: "So when people say, 'She had to turn to porn', I laugh, because this is a good thing and I’m making more now."

And Ward is seeing great success in the business, earning two nominations at this year's AVN Awards - one for Best Three-Way Sex Scene and the other for Best Supporting Actress.
