Denise Richards has spoken out following a road rage incident earlier this month, during which, she and her husband were shot at.
The actress, 51, and her husband, Aaron Phypers, were on their way to Popsicle Studio in south Los Angeles when another road user shot their vehicle after seemingly losing his patience, per TMZ.
The pair were looking for road parking when the driver behind them began shouting and attempting to squeeze past. Aaron reportedly decided to let the impatient driver through, but instead of obliging, the incident took a turn when the angry road user opened fire on the couple's vehicle - hitting the back end on the driver's side.
Thankfully, nobody was injured during the incident and the actress went on to complete a 12-hour day on set, with her husband Aaron staying throughout the day before both being accompanied back onto the freeway by an off-duty cop in order to get home.
Denise has since shared an update with her fans via Instagram, thanking her followers for their support since the incident. She said: "I want to give my sincerest thanks to all who have reached out to me and Aaron during this time.
"We are both very grateful to be safe. The love and support from all of you has been overwhelming!! We are so thankful for each and every one of you."
A source told PEOPLE: "The production company made her feel safe but they didn't file a police report. They think now that people were after the car itself because it's worth a lot of money."
Although a police report wasn't filed by the couple, the source confirms that the production company did call the police after the incident. The LAPD told PEOPLE that they have no details of the incident.
Denise and Aaron began dating in 2017 and tied the knot in 2018. The actress shares two daughters - Sam and Lola Rosa - with actor Charlie Sheen to who she was married for four years between 2002 and 2006.
TMZ also reported that on the day of the shooting, a gun safety talk took place on set. This comes in the aftermath of the tragedy on the set of Rust, where a prop gun held by actor Alec Baldwin discharged, taking the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
It's good to see Denise and Aaron doing well after the incident.

Denise Richards was involved in a life-threatening road rage incident on Monday.
The actress, 51, was on her way to Popsicle Studio in Los Angeles with her husband Aaron Phypers, 50, when another vehicle opened fire at them, per TMZ.
The star's husband, who was in the driver's seat at the time, was reportedly looking to park when another road user lost patience.
TMZ reports that Aaron was having a tough time trying to find a parking spot, so the driver behind them began shouting and attempting to squeeze in front.
The ordeal wasn't over when the actress's husband allowed the impatient driver to pass. Instead, he shot at their vehicle, hitting the back end on the driver's side.
Luckily, nobody was injured during the incident and the two, albeit a bit shaken up, continued on their way to the set of Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, with the actress proceeding to work a 12-hour day.
Aaron stayed with his wife throughout the day, before an off-duty cop escorted the couple onto the freeway so they could make their way home.
The incident was reported to the police when Denise arrived on set, however, it is unclear as to whether the scene was attended or a report taken.
Denise and Aaron, who started dating at the end of 2017, tied the knot in Malibu in 2018. The Love Accidentally actress had previously been married to Charlie Sheen for four years between 2002 and 2006. The former couple share two daughters - Sam and Lola Rose.
TMZ also reported that a gun safety meeting took place on set that day, which could be purely coincidental.
In the aftermath of last year's tragedy on the set of the movie Rust - where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot after a prop gun being held by actor Alec Baldwin discharged - it is good to see gun safety taking priority on TV and film sets.
Last week, it was reported that the 30 Rock star, 64, had filed his own lawsuit in the deadly incident, in a bid "to clear his name," as he had been "wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator", per the filing.
"This tragedy occurred on a movie set – not a gun range, not a battlefield, not a location where even a remote possibility should exist that a gun would contain live ammunition," the suit read.
"More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy. By these cross-claims, Baldwin seeks to clear his name," it continued.

Denise Richards has accused her estranged husband of domestic violence, including threats against her life.
The Wild Things star, 54, accused Aaron Phypers, 52, of physical abuse during their relationship, including violent attacks and threats.
Richards was said to be blindsided by the divorce filing, which came from Phypers, just days after the couple marked their seventh wedding anniversary.
Though they tied the knot in 2018 after a whirlwind romance, sources now say the relationship is unraveling fast - with both parties allegedly trying to hurt each other.
In documents obtained by TMZ, Richards outlined a pattern of alleged abuse that included being choked, slapped, and having her head slammed into objects.
“Throughout our relationship, Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack,” Richards reportedly stated in the court filings.
Richards, who also starred in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, recalled one particularly violent alleged incident in 2022 at Phypers’ workplace in Malibu, California.
She alleged that he became paranoid about the plants he had purchased, claiming they “contained listening devices.” It was during this episode, she said, that he lashed out physically and verbally.
According to Richards, Phypers called her a “f**king bitch” and struck her in the eye with the palm of his hand, leaving her bruised.
Another troubling episode detailed in the filings occurred when Richards suggested Phypers not join her on a work trip. She claimed that this led to a violent outburst.
“Aaron grabbed me by the back of my head by my hair and slammed me into the ground and screamed, ‘You are not cancelling my flight, I am going with you and I do not trust you,’” she claimed.
The court has since issued a restraining order, requiring Phypers to stay at least 100 yards away from Richards, her home, and her vehicle.
The actress, also a mother of three, has not commented publicly beyond the court filings, and Phypers has not yet responded to the allegations.
Phypers cited "irreconcilable differences" in the paperwork and listed July 4 as the official date of separation.
According to TMZ, who reviewed the documents, Phypers is asking for spousal support and claims he currently has no income of his own.
He also reportedly stated that Richards earns over $250,000 a month through OnlyFans, TV projects, brand endorsements, and public appearances.
The two are said to have lived a lavish lifestyle together, with Phypers estimating their monthly expenses total $105,000. That includes $20,000 on clothing and $15,000 on dining out.
And now, sources say Richards isn’t taking the financial demands lightly. One insider told MailOnline: "Aaron wanted to hurt her and he has. Meanwhile, the last thing he wants is to be broke – so she's cutting off his cash flow."
The source added that "the last thing she wanted was another divorce, so he gave her a divorce."

Denise Richards has opened up about the moment that she came clean to her daughters that her former lover Charlie Sheen was HIV-positive.
The 54-year-old actress shares two daughters, Sami (21) and Lola (19), with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, 59, who publicly revealed in 2015 that he had been diagnosed with HIV several years earlier.
Thanks to retroviral drugs, the virus is undetectable — but the moment Sheen chose to share the news was anything but predictable.
Denise recently told Whine Down podcast host Jana Kramer that she was blindsided when Sheen made the announcement on live television.
“It was everywhere,” Denise said. “I think I picked them up early from school that day because I didn’t want kids at school to tell them.”
She also admitted she was “kind of upset with Charlie” because he “didn't warn” her before going public. “It was hard to explain,” she said.
Since then, both Denise and Charlie have been on very different paths — but their shared commitment to co-parenting has been evident.
Charlie, who’s been sober since 2017, credits that transformation to a single, sobering moment.
“I have a very consistent lifestyle now. It’s all about single dad stuff, and raising my... twin boys Max and Bob,” he told People in December 2023, referring to his 16-year-olds with ex Brooke Mueller.
Denise, who also adopted a third daughter, 13-year-old Eloise, opened up about raising her kids amid Charlie’s legal battles and public controversies — including domestic violence charges.
“When the girls were little,” Denise said, “I never talked bad about him in front of the kids, and that’s hard to do — to hold your tongue and not say certain things at times.”
“I don’t know if I did a disservice to them with that as well because now that they’re older, they’re discovering things that they didn’t know.”
Fast forward to 2024, and the family is not only healing but letting cameras in.
Charlie appears in the debut episode of Denise’s new Bravo reality series, sitting down for dinner with Denise and their daughters. During the scene, Sheen gives Lola some advice about handling public scrutiny.
“Don’t read anything,” the Emmy nominee says. “Don’t read anything about it. Because if you don’t read it, it doesn’t exist.”
While the show focuses on everything from co-parenting to sibling drama, one of the central storylines involves the real-life tension between Lola and Sami, whose rocky relationship takes center stage in the early episodes.
The root of the rift was a messy situation involving a breakup, best friends, and serious miscommunication.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Lola — who was recently baptized — opened up about what caused the rift and how the show helped bring her and her sister closer.
“I sat with the Lord on it for a really long time and then I decided it would be a good opportunity to spread his light in that business where it’s not really common for people to talk about Jesus,” Lola shared, revealing she agreed to join the show just three days before filming began.
Opening up her life to the public was “so vulnerable,” she said, but knowing she “serves an audience of one” — referring to Jesus — gave her peace.
“I was very judgmental of myself in the beginning, but I realized, like, ‘It’s okay to be different. It’s okay to not be like everybody else on TV.’ So that was the hardest part for me I think,” she explained.

A man whose bride was killed on their wedding day when an alleged drunk driver hit their golf cart has spoken out weeks after the tragedy.
Samantha "Sam" Miller, 34, of Charlotte, North Carolina, died just hours after tying the knot with Aric Hutchinson, 36, on April 28 while they were leaving their wedding reception.
They had earlier exchanged their vows on Folly Beach in South Carolina.
Aric was badly in the crash, with The New York Post reporting that he sustained broken bones and bleeding to his brain after the collision. Two other relatives were in the golf cart - both of whom survived.
The driver has since been identified as 25-year-old Jamie Komoroski. Police say she was traveling at 65mph in a 25mph zone.
Police are alleging that Komoroski had a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit at the time of the crash, NBC News reports.
She has been charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm.
On Saturday (May 13), Aric spoke out about his loss for the first time, telling local outlet Live5 WCSC about a vigil he and his late wife's loved ones held in her honor: "She would’ve loved it."
Aric - who spoke to the outlet on the same beach where he and Sam exchanged their vows - went on to say: "This is Sam. I mean, she’s a beach girl, through and through. We do walk here almost every morning, and this is her send-off for sure. She’s up there smiling for sure."
"I’m feeling pretty good," Aric added. "My body’s getting back to where I can manage, I guess. It’s just as good as I can feel with the situation, but obviously, today and the outpouring of people was just amazing. I know Sam would love it."
Speaking about the response to Sam's passing, Aric said: "There are sincere, genuine, good-hearted people that are just reaching out that felt a reason to, or somehow they were touched by Sam. It just means the world that she left that impact."
A GoFundMe has been set up by Aric's mother, Annette Hutchinson, in order to help cover the costs of Sam's burial as well as medical costs for Aric and others injured in the incident.
She wrote in the fundraiser's description: "On April 28th, what started as the happiest day for Aric and Sam ended with a tragedy.
"While our hearts are broken along with the Millers, we never could have imagined how sharing our story would result in the tremendous outpouring of love, support, and overwhelming generosity we have received from friends, family, co-workers, and strangers."
Thus far, $723,458 has been raised, far surpassing the initial goal of $100,000.
