People urged to watch excruciating Netflix show in the daytime
There’s a brand new Netflix show doing the rounds - and it's so scary you might want to watch it before it gets dark.
True Haunting has become the new obsession of horror fans, but there's a warning going out to viewers that they may want to prepare for a very unsettling experience.
No surprise, really, given that the show comes from horror innovator James Wan - known for helping create beloved horror franchises like Saw and The Conjuring.
But what exactly will you be letting yourself in for when pressing play?
What is True Haunting on Netflix?
True Haunting is a paranormal TV series, focused on real-life hauntings, told by the people who actually experienced them.
Each episode forms its own individual case; one such episode called This House Murdered Me - about a family who run into trouble while trying to renovate their Victorian mansion - was the direct inspiration for the first Conjuring film, an actual case taken on by famed ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The show blends first-person interviews with the people who experienced these horrifying sights, as well as scripted reenactments and dramatization.
Upon debut, True Haunting actually gained mixed reviews from critics - with one calling it "slickly produced" but lamenting that "[its] polish undermines [the] sense of authenticity - but horror fans have found viewing the show to be a truly hair-raising experience."
What are fans saying about True Haunting on Netflix?
Viewers are finding True Haunting to be a tough watch by all accounts.
One fan said; "Watching True Haunting on Netflix [...] I'm a little scared and I'm home alone."
Another added: "Wow. True Haunting on Netflix had me spooked! One of the executive producers was James Wan, as expected."
One particularly spooked viewer thought True Haunting was "f**king terrifying," and added that "I'm probably never sleeping again."
True Haunting was originally launched on Netflix in October 2025, consisting of five total episodes, split across two separate stories.
The first, Eerie Hall, follows a group of college students in the 80s who discover that their accommodation is haunted.
The second, This House Murdered Me, even sees Ed and Lorraine Warren turn up to help the family battle the demonic forces haunting them in their renovated mansion.
The Warrens have been immortalised in The Conjuring franchise, with Ed Warren being portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Lorraine by Vera Farmiga. The most recent film, The Conjuring: Last Rites, was the last film to be produced in the main franchise. A prequel, First Communion, is expected to be released in 2027.
