Stephen King has urged people to watch a horror movie that hasn't been released yet.
The legendary author behind Carrie, 'Salem's Lot, The Shining, IT, Pet Sematary, and Cujo has given a glowing recommendation to The Cycle, an upcoming film set to begin streaming on Shudder next month.
The 74-year-old regularly uses social media to praise movies and TV shows after watching them, but he acknowledged that promoting an upcoming horror project he has no involvement with isn't something he normally does.
On Tuesday (September 1), he wrote: "There's a movie coming on Shudder in October called THE CYCLE. I don't usually pump up horror movies (unless they are mine, haha), but this is special. Put it on your calendar."
The Cycle will debut exclusively on Shudder on October 23, 2026, just over a week before Halloween.
Many people took to X to share their reactions to his tweet, with many saying they will now watch it after his post.
"Noted," one user said, while another chimed in: "I haven't had the chance to check September horror streaming list (as I'm still in work week mode), but I'll definitely be checking this one out! Thanks Steven King!"
A third shared: "I’ll only watch it , since you recommended it," and a fourth added: "I love horror movies! I've seen your movies and enjoyed them thoroughly. I've not heard of this one tho. I'll have to look for this one. Thank you for mentioning this new movie."
The film stars Deborah Ann Woll, who is known for playing Karen Page in Daredevil and Daredevil: Born Again.
The story begins when the 41-year-old's character is brought into a police station after the body of her father, who has been missing for 36 years, is discovered at the scene of a horrific crime, per Movie Web.
As his estranged daughter tries to uncover the truth about his dark past, she encounters a menacing evil.
Alongside Woll, the cast includes Jeffrey Donovan, Gretchen Corbett, Will Hochman, Dana Millican, Jack Doolan, and Trevor Newlin.
The Cycle was directed by Jordan Downey, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Stewart.
James Harris of the production company Tea Shop previously expressed his excitement about Downey's work on the movie.
"We are so excited about The Cycle; Jordan has crafted such an original story that is gonna excite audiences. For us he has the ability to be the next great genre filmmaker and we can’t wait to make the movie," Harris said.
Woll first rose to prominence playing vampire Jessica Hamby in HBO's True Blood before becoming a fan favorite as Karen Page in Marvel's Daredevil series.
Horror fans may also recognize her from Escape Room and its sequel, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.
She is set to reprise Karen in Daredevil: Born Again season 3, while gamers will hear her as Laufey, also known as Faye, in the upcoming God of War: Laufey, set for release in 2027.
