Hailey Bieber has spoken out after Selena Gomez defended her from death threats.

The 26-year-old had originally contacted Gomez, 30, for help amid their ongoing social media feud, which stemmed from the fact that Gomez used to be in a high-profile relationship with Hailey's husband, Justin Bieber.

Over the past few weeks, fans of both stars have claimed that Hailey and Selena were taking shots at each other - which started when Bieber and friend Kylie Jenner seemed to taunt Gomez over her eyebrows. Both Bieber and Jenner denied their posts had anything to do with Gomez.

Fan theories only escalated when Gomez announced that she would be taking a break from TikTok, stating on a TikTok Live: "I'm going to be taking a second from social media because this is a little silly. I'm 30 and am too old for this. But I love you so much and I'll see you guys sooner than later.

"I'm just gonna take a break from everything."

Unsurprisingly, the internet couldn't let the drama rest and leave the women alone, forcing Gomez to come back online once again after announcing her "break" to plead with her followers to be kinder. Taking to TikTok, she wrote: "Thank you and love you all so much. I'm deeply grateful for each and every one of you humans. You make me unbelievably happy."

"Please be kind and consider other people's mental health. My heart has been heavy, and I only want good for everyone. All my love [...]," she added.

Following this, Bieber unfortunately began to receive so many death threats that she ended up reaching out to Gomez to ask for help.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Gomez wrote: "Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn't what I stand for."

"No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop."

Bieber then took to her own Instagram story hours later to thank Gomez for speaking out and defending her, and calling for an end to the hate.

"The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful. While social media media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create division instead of bringing people together," the model and Rhode founder wrote.

In part of her statement, she also revealed that she and Gomez had been having discussions for several weeks on "how to move past this ongoing narrative" between them.

Bieber concludes the statement by writing that "love will always be bigger than hate and negativity" and that people should be treating each other "with more empathy and compassion".
