Michael Jackson's family has paid tribute to the late Lisa Marie Presley following the heartbreaking news of her death.

As reported by multiple sources, Lisa Marie passed away yesterday (January 12) aged 54 following a suspected cardiac arrest after being found unresponsive at her home in California.

Her mother, Priscilla, alerted fans with a tweet that read: "My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time."

The musician is the only daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley - who is not only immortalized by his music but also by a recent biopic movie about his life that saw actor Austin Butler pick up a Golden Globe for his performance.

Lisa Marie had a life of rubbing shoulders with other stars as she forged a successful music career of her own, including a brief marriage with Michael Jackson.

Now, following the news of her passing, the Jackson family has paid tribute to Lisa Marie, as they shared an image of the singer alongside Michael on Instagram with the caption: "Condolences to the family and loved ones of Lisa Marie Presley."

They later added on his official Facebook page: "We are saddened by the sudden tragic loss of Michael’s former wife, Lisa Marie Presley.

"Michael cherished the special bond they enjoyed and was comforted by Lisa Marie’s generous love, concern and care during their times together.

"Our hearts are with Lisa Marie’s children, Riley, Harper and Finley, and her mother, Priscilla, in this difficult time. – The Estate of Michael Jackson."

The pair married in 1994, 20 days after she finalized her divorce from her first husband Danny Keough with who she remained firm friends.

Lisa Marie had a positive impact on Michael's life, during their 18-month marriage she encouraged him to make out-of-court settlements regarding accusations of child molestation and also to attend rehab due to drug addiction, per the Guardian.

"I believed he [Michael] didn’t do anything wrong, and that he was wrongly accused and, yes, I started falling for him," Lisa Marie told a biographer, via the Guardian. "I wanted to save him. I felt that I could do it."

The couple finalized their divorce in 1996 and Jackson went on to marry Debbie Rowe with who he had three children: Prince, Paris, and Blanket.
