If you owned a copy of Blink-182's Enema of the State, you know the cover.
A woman in a nurse's outfit, snapping on a blue latex glove, red bra peeking through the white coat, staring at the camera like she was about to ruin your life.
That woman was Janine Lindemulder.
She was already one of the biggest names in adult film when the photo was taken, but the band didn't know that when they picked her.
Enema of the State came out on June 1, 1999.
It sold 15 million copies worldwide and turned Blink-182 from a California punk band into one of the biggest acts on the planet.
The cover was shot by photographer David Goldman.
The album was originally going to be called Turn Your Head and Cough, which is why Goldman came up with the glove idea.
'Obviously an enema is not really a glove type of thing,' he told the Huffington Post. 'I thought it was a good visual.'
Bassist Mark Hoppus told CMJ New Music Monthly they had a clear vision from the start.
"We wanted to have a sexy nurse on the cover," he said.
"We were looking at models and Playboy girls and we were like, 'If we're going to get a sexy girl for the cover, let's get a Vivid girl!'"
They picked Lindemulder's photo out of a pile of potential models.
Nobody in the band knew she was already a well-known porn star - their producer Jerry Finn had to tell them.
Needless to say, it didn't put them off.
She also appeared in the music video for 'What's My Age Again?' playing the nurse who chases the three naked band members through the streets.
Lindemulder was born in 1969 and started working as a stripper after leaving school.
She moved into adult film in 1988 and spent the next decade building a career that made her one of the most recognised names in the industry.
She was named Penthouse Pet in December 1987, won multiple AVN awards and was inducted into both the AVN Hall of Fame and the XRCO Hall of Fame in 2002.
She also appeared alongside Howard Stern in the 1997 film Private Parts.
The Blink-182 cover took her mainstream.
Suddenly, millions of teenagers who had never heard of her were staring at her face in record shops and on bedroom walls around the world.
In 1999, the same year the album dropped, she announced her retirement from adult film.
She said she wanted to become a kindergarten teacher and focus on raising her son.
That didn't last, and she returned to the industry in 2004.
Quite a lot, and not much of it was good.
In 2002, she married Jesse James, the founder of West Coast Choppers and a regular on reality television.
They had a daughter, Sunny. The marriage lasted two years.
After their divorce in 2004, James married Sandra Bullock.
What followed was a custody battle between Lindemulder and James that played out publicly for years, with Bullock caught in the middle of it.
In 2008, Lindemulder served six months in prison for failing to pay her taxes. After her release, the custody fight with James escalated further.
In a 2009 interview with ABC News, she addressed Bullock's involvement directly.
"Sandy doesn't know what goes on in my house," she said.
"I'd love for her to. Please come over, you know, I'll make dinner. Let's sit down, two women."
James and Bullock divorced in 2010 after he was caught cheating. Lindemulder's brief second marriage ended the same year.
In 2011, she was arrested on three outstanding harassment warrants.
Not much like the nurse on the cover.
Lindemulder is now 57. She lives in Oregon.
The blonde hair is gone, replaced by long dark locks. Her arms are covered in sleeve tattoos.
The blue butterfly from the album cover is still there, buried somewhere underneath everything else.
She is still active online.
She has around 89,000 followers on X, where her bio is marked 18+, and she runs an OnlyFans account.
From one of the most famous album covers of the 1990s to OnlyFans in her late 50s.
It is not the career arc most people would have predicted when she snapped that glove on in 1999.
The album is 27 years old. The nurse is still working. The glove, presumably, has been retired.

Pavlína Pořízková has posed entirely in the nude at the age of 55 in support of Elizabeth Hurley after the latter, also 55, sparked criticism for posting topless pics last week.
Taking to Instagram to share the striking snap, which currently has over 46K likes, Pořízková spoke in detail about society's tendency to shame women for their naked bodies once they reach a certain age
Pořízková also explained in the caption that the sizzling photo was inspired by fellow supermodel Elizabeth Hurley.
The supermodel, who was born in former Czechoslovakia, opened up about the negative attention she has gotten for her body since turning 50 - a far cry from the way her naked body was perceived in her twenties and thirties.
"Put your clothes on," Pořízková joked in the caption, before going on to say, "Today, on a serious note, thoughts inspired by the brouhaha around a sexy photo of @elizabethhurley1."
She continued:
"When I was in my twenties and thirties, the less I wore - the more popular I was. In my forties, I could walk around practically naked and illicit nothing more than a ticket for public indecency.
"At fifty, I am reviled for it. 'Put on your clothes, grandma. Hungry for attention, are you? A little desperate here? You’re pathetic.'
Why is sexiness and nudity applauded in a woman’s youth and reviled in her maturity?"Because of men.
"Men are biologically programmed to spread their seed, inserting themselves into fertile containers which advertise their viability through youth.What does this say for men who do not want children? Men who have all the kids they wanted? Men who don’t want kids right this second?
"Unevolved.
"And what does this say for women like myself, who need to be validated by the male gaze?
"Insecure.
"The only thing that is pathetic here is allowing others to set your priorities."
This comes a week after Hurley took to Instagram herself to post a couple of provocative pictures of her posing in her underwear and a fluffy coat that exposed much of her chest.
The viral post even caught the attention of Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, who slammed the photos, saying: "Isn't that a bit creepy? What is all this! It's what we call in the business 'thirsty and a bit creepy.'"
Dave Grohl, the former drummer of legendary rock band Nirvana, has shared his thoughts on the Nevermind album cover after it recently sparked a child exploitation lawsuit.
The 1991 album depicts a naked four-month-old baby reaching for a dollar bill in a swimming pool.
And on August 24, it was reported that the baby in question, now a 30-year-old man, is taking legal action against the band on alleged child pornography charges.
Now, Grohl, a founder and vocalist of the band, Foo Fighters, has said that he has "many ideas" about how the cover of the album could be changed.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Grohl said: "I have many ideas of how we should alter that cover but we’ll see what happens. We’ll let you know. I’m sure we’ll come up with something good."
When asked about the lawsuit specifically, the 52-year-old musician said: "I think that there’s much more to look forward to and much more to life than getting bogged down in those kinds of things. And, fortunately, I don’t have to do the paperwork."
Spencer Elden, the man who appeared on the album cover and launched the legal suit, alleged that that the image displayed his genitals without his consent.
Elden claimed that neither he nor legal his guardians signed a release authorizing the use of his photo on the cover and that the band's frontman, Kurt Cobain, had promised to conceal his crotch with a warning sticker.
He is seeking damages from the remaining members of the band, Cobain's estate, and from photographer Kirk Weddle, who took the original image.
The lawsuit states that Elden suffered "extreme and permanent emotional distress with physical manifestations, interference with his normal development and educational progress lifelong loss of income earning capacity."
His attorney later asked that the cover replace the famous image for a 30th-anniversary edition.
Following news of the suit, an interview with Elden, in which he revealed why he hates the album artwork, began to resurface.
He told GQ back in 2016: "I'm p***ed off about it, to be honest. I’ve been going through it my whole life. But recently I've been thinking, 'What if I wasn't OK with my freaking penis being shown to everybody?' I didn't really have a choice."
Suffering through an illness can often leave your confidence at rock bottom.
But, one British teaching assistant is determined to change this and inspire confidence in bowel disease sufferers.
Bethany Gallagher, from Sheffield, England, was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was just 15 years old. The inflammatory bowel disease left her in crippling pain and going to the toilet up to 45 times a day.

After seven years of battling through symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting, bleeding and extreme weight loss, doctors agreed to let the 23-year-old have an ostomy bag fitted, leading her to cry with joy.
After getting the stoma bag - a prosthetic medical device that allows faeces or urine to be collected in a pouch - fitted in April 2017, Bethany decided to take to social media to share photos in her underwear to encourage others to love their bodies no matter what.

"I started taking and sharing photos of my journey originally for my family and friends. My parents didn’t want me to get a stoma," Bethany explained. "They thought it would open up loads more problems like body confidence issues. They didn’t want to see their little girl go through that. So I set up an account to post pictures to show them that I’m okay and I’m proud of what I’ve been through."
She continued: "I remember thinking one day 'why should I not be proud of my body just because I have been through this?'. The bag saved my life at the end of the day, besides I can’t hide it. It trumps on its own, it really has got a mind of its own. So if there’s no point trying to hide it then I might as well get it out.
"What started as a reassurance for my family has become a massive awareness-raising thing. I get so many people messaging me saying my photos inspired them and they’ve walked down a beach in their bikinis for the first time, I love it."

In addition to Crohn's disease, the teaching assistant has been forced to deal with a string of other conditions, including diversion colitis, an inflammation of the colon which saw her bleed from her rectum up to 50 times a day, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, an incurable autoimmune disease that causes her joints to swell and psoriasis, another autoimmune disease that leaves her with red and itchy skin.
However, nowadays, the 23-year-old - who lives with her supportive boyfriend of 10 years Mike - boasts over 2,000 followers on Instagram who follow her every move and cheer her on during her low days.

Speaking out about how the community has spurred her on, she said: "It hasn’t just helped other people, it has helped me too. It might sound silly but you get so used to the bag that you don’t feel it so when you look in the mirror it can be a bit of a shock like 'ooh I’ve got a bag of poo stuck to me'.

"But seeing the photos has helped so much, it’s made me realise that even with my bag and my scars my body really isn’t that different to other people’s bodies. I want to help everyone else with a stoma realise that. Here’s to being sassy with a stoma."
Adult film star Kagney Linn Karter has sadly died at age 36.
The late adult entertainer passed away last Thursday (February 15). She was found dead in her home in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, according to online records first reviewed by TMZ.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office disclosed to the publication that they received her body that day from an address in the city of Parma.
A police rep also revealed that Karter died by suicide, and this was later confirmed by Karter's friends who've started a GoFundMe on behalf of her mom, Tina.
Karter broke into the adult film industry in the mid-2000s before leaving Los Angeles and moving back to Ohio in 2019 where she became a regular at a pole dancing studio in town.
During her career, Karter was named Missouri's "Deja Vu Showgirl of the Year" in 2007 and was a national second-place runner-up that same year. She eventually signed with top modeling agency L.A. Direct Models and posed for photo shoots for noted adult photographer Holly Randall.
She also won numerous awards and was nominated for several AVN awards, according to her IMDb profile.
A GoFundMe page was created by Karter's friends - who knew her through fitness studios - to help the late actress' bereaved parents pay for memorial services. As of this writing, $15,577 has been raised of the $8,000 target.
"Kagney was kind. Kagney was generous. As cold as the world could be, Kagney brought with her a light," two of her friends penned. "On her good days, when she was most herself, she could warm up a room with her radiant smile, get others laughing in no time at all. She was all brightness and bubble, with never a cross word to say about another."
The fundraising page noted that "despite all of her many impressive accomplishments and talents, Kagney struggled with mental health issues as the years passed by".
"As alone as she undoubtedly felt within the confines of her own head, she continued to make an effort to show up for her friends and the community who cared about her," they said. "She fought her own battles with the same tenacity and drive she showed in every other area of her life, with as much strength as she could."
The heartbroken friends revealed that Karter "tragically took her own life" in her home less than two weeks after her final session at the fitness studios on February 7th.
"The news sank like a stone in our hearts. The horrible reality of a studio without Kagney- a community without her- seemed all wrong. Unnatural. Too difficult to accept," they wrote. "We humbly ask that you assist us raise funds for her mother, Tina, to lay Kagney to rest. 100% of these funds will be going to preparations for her memorial services."
They said that any leftover funds would be given to a local animal rescue charity, and concluded: "Although no amount of money can ease the grief, if it can even assuage a small amount of stress on Kagney's mother and immediate family, that is a victory."
