O.J. Simpson shared a haunting video about his health just two months before his death at the age of 76.
Orenthal James Simpson, also known as "The Juice," is a controversial NFL star turned murder suspect who was acquitted of the brutal killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.
According to a statement issued by the former footballer's family on X (formerly known as Twitter), Simpson died on Thursday (April 11) after succumbing to his battle with cancer.
"He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," they added.
Just two months before his death, Simpson assured fans he was in "good health" in a nearly two-minute video that was posted ahead of the Super Bowl.
In a clip filmed by the pool, the infamous superstar addressed those who reached out to him, stating: "Thank you to all the people who reached out to me. My health is good. Obviously, I'm dealing with some issues, but I think I'm just about over it, and I'll be back on that golf course hopefully in a couple of weeks."

The late star also shared a previous video where he dismissed rumors he was going into a hospice in February this year.
"Hey X world, hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice," the former running back said in a video posted to X. "No, I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who put that out there.
"I guess it’s like Donald [Trump] says, 'You can’t trust the media,'" he continued, before concluding: "In any event, I’m hosting a tonne of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas. All is well, you know. So take care, have a good Super Bowl weekend."

Simpson became one of the most famous football players of his day. He captured the Heisman Trophy while at USC, then played successfully for the San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills. He extended his celebrity and fortune as a sportscaster, a movie and television actor, and a corporate spokesman, most notably for Hertz rental cars.
However, all that changed in 1994 when the former footballer's ex-wife and friend were brutally stabbed to death outside of the former's home. Within days, police announced their intention to arrest Simpson for their murders.
The sports star surrendered to authorities and stood trial for the murders. In October 1995, he was acquitted in a trial that was televised daily.
Simpson is survived by four children: Arnelle and Jason, from his first marriage, and Sydney and Justin, from his marriage to Nicole.

Ron Goldman's dad, whose son was murdered 3o years ago, has spoken out following the death of O.J. Simpson.
As previously reported, Simpson, the iconic football star whose life was marred by controversy, including his widely publicized trial for the murders of his ex-wife and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994, has passed away at the age of 76
Known as "The Juice," Simpson rose to prominence as a standout in college and professional football before branching out into various entertainment and business ventures, including roles as a sportscaster, actor, and corporate figurehead.
The trajectory of Simpson's life took a dramatic turn on June 12, 1994, when the brutal murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, shocked the affluent Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The subsequent high-profile trial gripped the nation, ending in Simpson's acquittal - a verdict that is still highly debated.
Although Simpson, Brown's former husband, was acquitted of the murders in a criminal trial, a subsequent civil court ruling found him liable for the deaths.
Fred Goldman, the father of Ron, expressed his sentiments to The Independent following Simpson's death, emphasizing the enduring grief over his son's absence.
"The only thing I have to say is that today is just a further reminder of how long my son has been gone," Goldman stated. "And how many years, and how much he's been missed. And the only thing that is important today are the victims. Nothing else is important today."
Regarding Simpson's passing, Goldman told NBC News that it was "no great loss to the world."
David Cook, attorney for the Goldman family, reflected on Simpson's death, remarking that he had "died without penance."
"When people die without penance, it means they are really stuck. If they die without penance they will still not see God," Cook stated.
Ron Goldman, originally from a Chicago suburb, had relocated to California with aspirations of entrepreneurship. Tragically, his life was cut short during an act of kindness when he went to return prescription sunglasses to Brown's condo.
Gloria Allred, who represented Brown's family during the trial, reflected on the broader implications, stating: "Simpson's death reminds us that the legal system, even 30 years later, is still failing battered women."
Simpson, aged 76, passed away following a battle with prostate cancer, according to his family's statement.

Details of the final days and moments of O.J. Simpson's life have been revealed after the former football player died at the age of 76.
News of his death was confirmed on Thursday after his family shared a statement, reading: "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
"He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. The Simpson Family."
Now, details of his final visitors as well as non-disclosure agreements medical staff had to sign have come to light following his death.
Simpson found fame in the NFL, where he spent a decade across teams including the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers, becoming known as one of the greatest running backs of all time.
However, his glittering sporting career ended up being overshadowed by the brutal murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her close friend Ron Goldman, in 1994.
Simpson was the prime suspect in the case but was acquitted in 1995 following a long trial where he was represented by Robert Kardashian, Kris Jenner's former husband. The athlete was later found guilty in a civil trial in 1996, and Brown's family was awarded damages.
New reports state that in Simpson's final moments, all of his children - including Sydney Brooke Simpson and Justin Simpson, who he shared with Brown - were at his bedside to say goodbye.
Simpson died at his home in Las Vegas on Wednesday, and medical staff treating him - as well as his family and visitors - were all made to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) according to TMZ.
A source claimed that they were made to sign it for "privacy" reasons while he was under hospice care for prostate cancer, and everyone was banned from taking their phones into the room while saying their goodbyes.
The outlet reported that around 30-50 people, including many of the athlete's family and friends, had signed the NDAs before seeing him.
All of his children were reportedly by his side when he died, including Sydney and Justin, who he shared with Brown, as well as his older children, Jason and Arnelle Simpson, who he had with Marguerite Whitley.
His fifth child, Aaren Lashone Simpson, drowned in 1979 at the age of two.
Just weeks before his death, OJ - who was nicknamed 'The Juice' - had dispelled rumors he was going into a hospice after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Speaking in February, he told his followers: "Hey X world, hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice," the former running back said in a video posted to X. "No, I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who put that out there.

Following the news that O.J. Simpson had passed away at the age of 76, a viral video of the former NFL star has surfaced once again on social media showing an "inappropriate" joke he played on an interviewer.
On Thursday (April 11), it was announced that the former football star who previously faced accusations about the murders of his ex-wife and her friend, had lost his battle with prostate cancer.
He was 76 at the time.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, his family announced the news via a heartfelt statement.
"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," it read. "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."
In the wake of the news, an old video of the athlete has seemingly started trending online after fans deemed it as "wild". The video comes from a 1998 episode of the TV documentary Ruby Wax Meets... where the titular host spends time with various celebrities.
Check out the outrageous moment below:
During the show, Wax asked questions regarding the high-profile murder case against Simpson regarding the killings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
The clip shows the star telling Wax: "If you promise that you will not ask me another question about the case, we won't have to talk about it anymore."
Wax responds to Simpson with: "I will never ask you again... Just, did you do it?"
Simpson looks directly into the camera and says: "No, I didn't. Nope. Did not do it."
The camera then cuts to Wax alone in the studio after the interview had concluded, where she reveals that the former football player then played a bizarre "joke" on her.
"After we finished filming, OJ said to me that he had a surprise for me and I genuinely was surprised," she tells viewers, before adding: "I think it was his idea of a joke."
The next part of the video showed Wax opening a door to reveal Simpson pretending to stab her with a fake knife repeatedly - which is horrifying considering Simpson was accused of stabbing both his ex-wife and Goldman outside of her Los Angeles home on June 12, 1994.
Social media users were not impressed, with many raising suspicions of the star's alleged involvement in the case.
"I always remember seeing that interview on TV and couldn't believe the gall of the man," one person commented on an Instagram post. With another adding: "Oh my god! He thought that was a joke."
A third was left surprised upon seeing the clip, writing: "What the F***" alongside a shocked expression emoji.
Reuters reports that Simpson became a chief suspect in the case. He was ordered to surrender to police, but five days after the killings, he fled in his white Ford Bronco with a former teammate - carrying his passport and a disguise. A slow-speed chase through the Los Angeles area ended at Simpson's mansion and he was later charged in the murders.
However, on October 3, 1995, he was acquitted of both murders after what was described as one of the "most notorious trials in 20th century America."
Thirteen years after his acquittal in 2008, he was convicted on charges including kidnapping and armed robbery.

O.J. Simpson's official cause of death has been revealed - more than two weeks after his passing.
The former NFL star and controversial figure passed away on April 10 at the age of 76.
Now, Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, has confirmed to TMZ that Simpson's official cause of death has been confirmed as prostate cancer.
"I was pretty certain it was prostate cancer; ultimately, that was the cause. He thought it had beaten it," LaVergne said in a statement. "I thought this was done, but you know how cancers go. They come back, and they come back with a vengeance."
Despite battling health issues, Simpson had often downplayed concerns about his well-being. However, in May 2023, he revealed in a video that he had been fighting cancer. In the weeks leading up to his death, he appeared frail and was seen using a cane.
In a video posted on February 11, Simpson expressed gratitude to those who had reached out to him, stating: “My health is good. Obviously, I’m dealing with some issues, but I think I’m just about over it, and I’ll be back on that golf course hopefully in a couple of weeks.”
The New York Post reports that Simpson had been under hospice care in Las Vegas before his passing.
Contrary to initial reports suggesting that Simpson was surrounded by his children and grandchildren in his final moments, his attorney revealed that only one close family member was present at his side. The family's statement on X, which stated that Simpson died surrounded by family, was deemed false by LaVergne.
"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," a statement from his family read at the time of Simpson's death.
But LaVergne has since started that only one "close family member" was with the disgraced NFL star when he passed away.
Speaking to the Associated Press, LaVergne emphasized the immense burden faced by Simpson's children, who had shared their father with the world throughout his tumultuous life.
"At the end of the day, these children just lost a father," LaVergne said. "And they have the added burden that he is one of the most famous people on the planet, and who is polarizing and who is surrounded by controversy."
Simpson's life was marked by both triumph and controversy. He was famously acquitted of the 1995 double murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, in a trial that captivated the world.
However, he was later found liable for their deaths in a civil case in 1997.
His legal troubles continued in 2008 when he was sentenced to nine years in prison for armed robbery and other felonies related to a confrontation over sports memorabilia in a Las Vegas hotel room.
Simpson's death marks the end of a life defined by fame, controversy, and legal battles, leaving behind a complicated legacy that continues to intrigue and divide public opinion.
