It appears not everyone is enjoying the new season of The Boys as viewers flood it with one-star reviews over its male nudity scenes.
Per Amazon Prime, the series is about "a group of vigilantes known informally as 'The Boys,' who set out to take down corrupt superheroes".
The first three episodes of season three dropped on Friday (June 3), and it seems, a number of fans are outraged.
Fans took to the streaming service's comment section to weigh in on the latest episodes of The Boys, which is one of Amazon Prime's most-watched shows.
One person questioned the show's storyline: "Who in their rights minds would think this up? Just to save you not seeing this....a man shrinks and crawls up another mans rear and then explodes. Sexually depraved in every sense."
Another complained about the "multiple" sex scenes, writing: "The violence in The Boys was expected but I was hoping the arrival of Jensen Ackles would make that series more about the intrigue rather than the violence and multiple sex scenes."
"This season 3 is just frankly taking this to another level and it's just an accumulation of sex scenes more and more twisted by the minute. Shame as the premise of the storyline was good with a great cast of actors. and the 1 star is for that," they added.
A third viewer commented: "If I wanted to watch filth with a barely-there plot, heavy on the blood + gore, and stimulated sex scenes, there's plenty available on the web for free. The first season of The Boys had a good premise. Season three stinks of desperation + manages to be both stomach-churning + boring."
Other viewers inundated the site with comments about how the series is becoming too "political" and going "woke".
One wrote: "Downhill fast did this go. BS woke c**p." While Another said: "Go woke. go broke."
A viewer wrote that they are "sick of woke" and "political agenda" in the show, complaining that they don't need to be "lectured by the Hollywood elites".
Comic Book pointed out that the streaming service, along with the TV show's crew, probably predicted the negative reactions on the internet.
Eric Kipke, The Boys' showrunner, tweeted a video of the character Homelander, played by Antony Starr, reacting to bad reviews in their marketing videos for season two.
While some have taken to social media to express their opinions, the newest season is performing well, receiving acclaim from critics.
The series currently has a 92 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.7 out of 10 rating on IMDB, so at least the vast majority are enjoying it.
The Boys season three is available to watch on Amazon Prime, with a new episode released every Friday.
