A woman has been praised online after she refused to babysit her grandchild for free - asking for an hourly wage instead.
Raising kids is no easy task, as they require constant supervision because they obviously don't possess the ability to fend for themselves until they're older.
With the kids needing to be under a constant watchful eye, it can be tough to work around a working schedule as most parents will need a job to financially support the family.
It's usually the case to enlist the help of the grandparents when it comes to child care, as they've done it all before and often have a bit more free time on their hands.
Though it would seem that one grandmother wasn't having any of it and even tried to charge her daughter for any childcare.
Writing on the popular Am I The A**hole forum on Reddit, the unnamed 29-year-old daughter questioned whether her mother was being unreasonable.
"My mom is 64, has been a homemaker/stay-at-home-mom since 1992, and hasn't been part of the workforce since then," the Redditor explained.
After asking her mum to help her with her new baby, she said: "She refused, saying she's too old and that she already raised her kids.
"She also added that if I really wanted this baby, then maybe I should have thought about staying home like she did to take care of it while my partner goes to work and provides for us like a 'traditional' family, and that if she [and] my dad were able to work it out, so can we."
Stating that she and her partner are paying back student loans as well as saving for a bigger house, she admitted they can't really afford childcare right now.
She went on: "When I explained all [the] above to my mom, she then proceeded to say that she will charge me $20/hr for each hour she takes care of the baby, plus late fees if we are late for pickup, and must provide her with a carseat, stroller, bottles, and pretty much double of everything we have at our home to compensate for taking the baby to her house."
Stating that her mom "does not do anything besides watch TV and cook meals", the Redditor questioned whether she was the a**hole for asking her mother.
People flocked to the comments with support for the grandmother, as one person wrote: "YTA [You're the a**hole]. She raised her family and she has the right to want to be paid if she is going to give up part of her retirement to help you."
A second added: "Your plan for raising a child shouldn’t have been based on your Mom providing you with free childcare."
A third penned: "Your Mom is right. She already raised her kids. She is not responsible for your kids, you are. As a responsible adult, you should have reviewed your finances before deciding to have a baby to ensure you could afford the childcare and other expenses that come with having children."
Others said that the new mom can ask her parents to help with child care, but she shouldn't expect it and should take no for an answer.
Having kids is tough, isn't it?

Any parent worth their salt will tell you that, when you've got young kids, it's impossible to hide anything from them. Seriously, if you've got anything private that you don't want your children to find, then you'd better invest in a locker and a sturdy padlock, because otherwise, the little rascals will get their mitts on it.
If you don't believe me then consider the following story a cautionary tale. A mom has ended up inadvertently going viral on social media this week after her 5-year-old daughter found her vibrating sex toy and gave it to a friend as 'friendship bracelet.'

Kahla Maneely, a young mom who hails from Mount Joy in Pennsylvania, received a text from a fellow mother with a picture of her sex toy, along with a captioned that joked that her daughter "might have been in your stuff lol. [sic]"
Mortified, Kahla and her partner Brady Eisenhowe daughter questioned their daughter Myla Eisenhower, who confessed that she'd been rummaging through her parent's room when she'd found the vibrating penis ring, and had thought it would make a cute present for her schoolfriend.

Taking to Facebook to share her account of the shameful incident, Kahla wrote: "Now that the initial mortified feeling is over I cannot stop laughing, I can’t breath ?? I CANNOT make this sh*t up if I tried ?? Someone come get this kid! ?? [sic]"
She added: "For everyone saying how it looks worn, of course it does! You know how many times it must have been dropped, stretched, stepped on etc. from the time she took it up until the time it was found almost 12 hours later! They are cheap, 1 time use ones ??"
Check out this hilarious video of a cute dog who found a sex toy while out on a walk:

Parents across the US taking to social media to share warnings over the popular children's activity toy Bunchems, after multiple kids have gotten them stuck in their hair "for hours".
According to the official Bunchems website, the creative toy consists of "colorful little balls that stick to each other and build like no other."
When used for building and art activities, there's no doubt that Bunchems look a lot of fun - but several parents are sharing their "nightmare" experience after their kids' hair became matted and tangled by the toy.
One mom, Lisa Tschirlig Hoelzle, took to Facebook to share what she described as her "worst Mom nightmare to date".
Hoelzle writes: "Friday at 4pm until Saturday at 10pm was my worst Mom nightmare to date!!!
"Abigail and Noah got done virtual school and went in the basement to play, about 10 minutes later Noah comes running up to tell me that Abigail had something stuck in her hair .... then she came up! I think I had an out of body experience.
"Apparently, Noah had poured a container of 'Bunchems' on Abigail's head being a jokester."
The mom writes that it took "20 hours total" in order to pull the Bunchems out, which sadly resulted in "lots of hair loss".
This was "followed by an hour or more in the bathtub with conditioner and combing out the knots".
Another parent to take to social media to share their hair-raising experience with the toy was Greg Difani II, who wrote on Facebook:
"Beware of Bunchems!!! Ashley is a saint she has been working on this for close to 5 hours. Piper claims she fell into some Bunchems and they got stuck in her hair like this."
Greg then included several images of his daughter, Piper, sat patiently as her parents attempted to untangle her hair.
Additionally, one hairdresser by the name of Kay took to Facebook to share her thoughts on the popular toy.
Kay writes: "Bunchems are apparently great fun and a very popular toy, but as soon as it touches hair it grips to it like very strong Velcro and matts up in the hair.
"There is no trick to get these out other than sheer patience and going through with a pintail comb hair by hair and releasing it."
She added: "I really feel these should be banned. But I don’t have the power to do this. So the only thing I can do is put this information out there. If your child has these please please get rid of them immediately. Or put them up for supervised play only. I hope this helped someone."
And there are plenty more stories of the exact same scenario floating around the internet:
There's no doubt Bunchems can be a lot of fun and inspire creativity - just make sure they're going nowhere near your kids' hair!

A grandmother has taken to social media to reveal why she does not want to babysit her own grandchild... and people agree with her.
Now, many couples who are planning on having a baby will often talk about how close they're living to the child's grandparents. This is often under the assumption that the grandmas and grandpas would love to help raise the baby and assist with any babysitting.
However, what if that's not the case?
Well, that's exactly what one grandmother has revealed in a new Reddit post, in which she reveals that she is refusing to babysit her grandchild, despite her daughter expecting her to do so.
Taking to Reddit's 'Am I The A**hole?' forum, the 50-year-old grandmother asked whether or not she was in the wrong for not offering to babysit her three-year-old grandson on the weekends, while her 27-year-old daughter went to work.
"I’ve been 'expected' to be the one to care for my grandson while my daughter works on the weekends," the grandma writes, before adding: "Facts are, I AM TIRED!!!"
The grandmother reveals that the child's father is no longer around and that her daughter is raising her son as a single mom.
"She works all week and has child care arranged at a reduced affordable rate," the grandma explains. "She has started to pick up weekend shifts for extra money and has kind of 'expected' me to babysit because I am the grandmother."
However, this arrangement certainly wasn't what the grandmother had in mind, as she writes: "I also work all week and weekends are my only days off. I'm actually f***ing exhausted and all I want to do is hang out with my dogs on the weekends." (Preach.)
"I do not have the energy to chase around a toddler anymore," she adds. "I had 4 children myself so I’ve basically done my time."
The grandmother then reveals that other members of the family are "guilting" her into doing it, saying that it is "her job" to help her daughter out. She also adds that there is nobody else in the family who is responsible enough to care for the child.
"While I fully intended on being an active grandmother, I just can not handle kids anymore," the grandma writes. "I don’t have the patience or the energy that I had when I had my kids."
Concluding her post by saying that she feels like a "selfish a**hole", the grandmother put the question of whether or not she was to the people of Reddit.
And they certainly had her back!
One person commented: "NTA [Not the a**hole]! At all. She needs to find weekend daycare.
"The fact that she’s asking you to do this when you work a full week yourself is very selfish! I get she’s struggling, but you are too (physically).
"You raised your kids! Give her a specified amount of time and then tell her you’re done! You’re supposed to be having fun with your grandchildren, which might include an occasional day, not every weekend."
A second supporter added: "NTA. You shouldn’t be expected to babysit all the time just because you’re his grandma. Kids are a handful or you may have other stuff to do. She has childcare at a reduced rate. Why not use it?"
And a third wrote: "NTA [...] Your daughter's situation sucks but her child isn't your responsibility. Other family members are guilting you into taking care of your grandson because they are afraid that your daughter will ask them for help."
