Once a symbol of masculine ideals, having a small penis in the modern age has become famously unfashionable.
The size of a guy’s manhood is now inextricably linked to his sexual prowess and suitability as a lover.
The fixation on phallus length has taken on even greater meaning in the United States, with a recent study conducted to ascertain which state has the biggest penis average.
According to a study, the United States ranks 68th in the world for the largest average penis size, with a length of 5.6 inches, but the domestic research points to a bigger picture… quite literally.
“Penis size is often treated like a cultural fixation, but it’s rarely discussed with real numbers attached,” claimed the study authors for Bespoke Surgical, a sex health clinic in Manhattan.
Surveying over 3,000 men across the 46 states (with the other six not participating), researchers at Bespoke Surgical, discovered that the midwestern state of Iowa ranked first with the largest average.
Iowans are both growers and showers, with the average size coming in at a whopping 7.13 inches.
That said, the one major caveat was that men were required to accurately and honestly self-report on the size of their flaccid penises and erections, which could also point towards which state has the largest proportion of men prepared to be economical with the truth…
Elsewhere, South Carolina and Arizona claimed second and third spot, respectively.
With those in Carolina’s southern reaches chalking up median sizes of 7.04 inches, while Arizonans registered an impressive 7.01 inches.
Meanwhile, New York and Indiana came in at fourth and fifth, respectively, with 6.72 and 6.68 inches.
As for the states that weren’t as well-endowed, New England and Kansas had the smallest erect penises, standing at 5.41 and 5.55 inches, respectively.
However, the research suggests size may not be as important as many assume.
Around 31 percent of respondents, both men and women, said their partner’s size doesn’t really matter.
Meanwhile, 89 percent believe society places too much importance on it, with 94 percent of Gen Z participants describing the focus as 'excessive.'
Instead, other factors appear to play a much bigger role in satisfaction. “An overwhelming 96 percent [of respondents] said being a good or skilled lover matters more in bed than penis size,” researchers explained.
They added: “When respondents were asked what matters most in bed, emotional connection (63.9 percent) and chemistry/compatibility (63.5 percent) both outpaced physical attraction (38.4 percent).”
Dr Evan Goldstein also weighed in on the findings, saying: “It’s no secret we’re culturally obsessed with inches. Guys inflate, round up, add a little ‘creative math.’”
“But when it actually comes down to it, people care a lot more about connection,” he continued.
“Compatibility and skill matter a whole lot more than length or girth.”

Everything may be bigger in Texas - except, apparently, the average penis size. A new survey by Bespoke Surgical has ranked states by reported penis length and revealed where men stretch the truth the most.
Over 1,300 men across all 50 states were asked to share their erect penis size, and the results showed surprising regional trends. Alabama topped the list with an average of 7.44 inches, followed by Louisiana (7.15), West Virginia (7.00), Vermont (6.98), and Utah (6.97). Meanwhile, Delaware came in last with an average length of 5.22 inches. Other states at the shorter end included New Mexico (5.36), Maryland (5.50), Georgia (5.69), and Rhode Island (5.83).
But this wasn’t just about raw numbers - the study also measured how honest men were when discussing their size. When asked what they tell partners or dates, some men admitted to adding nearly an inch to the truth.
Louisiana, despite being one of the states with the largest reported sizes, also led the country in exaggeration. Men there overstated their length by an average of 0.92 inches. The study found that men in the deep south were most likely to inflate their numbers when speaking to potential partners.
In total, 38 percent of respondents were less than truthful, with 26 percent admitting to exaggerating by an average of 0.98 inches.
At the other end of the spectrum were the under-reporters. Men in Rhode Island, Tennessee, Washington, and Alaska were among the few who actually underestimated their size. Rhode Islanders, on average, claimed to be more than an inch smaller than they actually were.
Despite some sources claiming the national average penis length is between 5 and 5.5 inches, Bespoke Surgical’s data put it at 6.41 inches. The researchers suggested that volunteer bias may play a role in this inflation.
“Volunteer bias, in this case, could mean that men with longer penises might be more willing to volunteer for a length survey than men with shorter penises, which skews the data and makes the average seem longer than may actually be true,” they explained.
A separate Stanford University meta-analysis, which reviewed studies spanning 1942 to 2021, found the average erect length had increased 25 percent over the past 30 years - from 4.8 to 6 inches. Researchers warned this rapid change could be linked to environmental factors like chemical exposure, diet, and sedentary lifestyles.
Still, Bespoke Surgical offered a message of acceptance: “Start loving your penis just the way it is. After all, size doesn’t matter, it’s all about how you use it.”

A new survey is lifting the veil on one of the oldest dating questions: are men honest about the size of their penis?
The answer, it seems, depends a lot on where they live.
A nationwide study by Bespoke Surgical asked over 1,300 American men to reveal two very personal things — their actual penis length at full erection, and the size they claim when chatting with potential partners or dates.
The goal wasn’t to shame anyone. The New York-based company clarified their intent was simply to gain insight into “who has the biggest package, and which state is most likely to exaggerate the size of theirs.”
Let’s just say — the results were revealing.
According to the survey, men in Alabama boasted the largest self-reported average length, clocking in at 7.44 inches.
Close behind were Louisiana (7.15 inches), West Virginia (7 inches), Vermont (6.98 inches), and Utah (6.97 inches).
On the smaller end of the spectrum, Delaware men reported the shortest average length at 5.22 inches, with New Mexico (5.36 inches) and Maryland (5.5 inches) also reporting below the national average.
When all states were considered, the U.S. self-reported average was 6.41 inches — a notable leap from the actual measured average reported in a 2020 study, which found the mean erect penis length to be between 5.1 and 5.5 inches, according to the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy.

Turns out, Louisiana isn’t just big in size — it’s also big in exaggeration.
Bespoke Surgical found that men in the Pelican State had the highest average self-reported penis length when exaggerating (8.07 inches), along with one of the “widest variances of what they tell others with 0.92 inch.”
Interestingly, Delaware — home to the smallest actual average — had the highest average exaggeration at 1.30 inches. Georgia’s exaggeration gap was more modest, coming in at 0.66 inches.
Nationwide, about 26 percent of men exaggerated their size by an average of 0.98 inches. On the flip side, 12 percent of men understated their length by around 1.03 inches, while 62 percent gave honest answers.

While men are inflating their numbers, it raises another age-old question: does size even matter?
A separate study tackled exactly that, surveying women on what penis size they found most attractive — with different preferences depending on the type of relationship.
For casual flings, women chose a model measuring 6.4 inches in length and 5.0 inches in girth. When it came to long-term partners, preferences dipped slightly to 6.3 inches long and 4.8 inches in girth.
The variations were small, but revealing.
“Situational context matters,” said scientist Dr. Nicole Prause in an interview with Vice. “What someone prefers for a one-night stand may differ from what they prefer in a long-term partner.”
She also pushed back against the myth of the “perfect” size, saying: “Please don’t call any penis the perfect penis."

Contrary to what you might expect, the study didn’t involve real men. Instead, women were shown 33 3D-printed models of penises in various sizes and shapes, and asked to select their preferred length and girth based on two scenarios: casual and committed sex.
While most women remembered their favorite models with accuracy, some underestimated the length in favor of girth — showing that visual memory doesn’t always match precise measurements.
Ultimately, the takeaway wasn’t to obsess over numbers, but to understand how preferences shift with context, emotional connection, and comfort.
As the researchers pointed out, the idea of a “perfect penis” is more social myth than sexual science. The study emphasizes that “individual tastes, sexual compatibility, and relationship dynamics often outweigh simple measurements.”

The result are officially in on the topic everyone secretly wants to know the answer to - the country with the world's biggest average penis size has been revealed.
Now, everyone knows that size isn't everything, but it's something everyone wonders about from time to time.
According to Healthline, the average penis size is between 5.1 and 5.5 inches, with one study claiming that almost everyone falls between this range.
Of course, there are always some outliers on the larger or smaller sides, and a new study has determined which country comes out on top.
The study, put together by online pharmacy NowPatient, used Google data from 80 countries to determine which country has the most bragging rights when it comes to size.
According to their calculations, the country with the largest average penis size is.... [drumroll please]
Ecuador.
Yes, men from Ecuador have reportedly measured up at an avergae of 6.93 inches when erect.
Coming in a close second is Cameroon with a measurement of 6.56 inches, and Bolivia took the third-place spot with 6.5 inches.
The majority of the countries within the top 10 are in Africa, with Sudan (fourth), Senegal (sixth), Gambia (seventh), and Zambia (tenth) all making an appearance.
Also in the top 10 were Haiti in fifth place, and Cuba and the Netherlands, who were joint seventh along with Gambia.
The Netherlands was the only country from Europe to make the cut, while there were none from Asia among the top 10.
And of course, the curiosity doesn't stop at the largest, as NowPatient also compiled a list of the smallest countries, too.
It's not great news for people from Cambodia as they reported having the smallest penises at an average of 3.95 inches.
Second smallest was Myanmar at 4.21 inches, followed by the Philippines at 4.27 inches.
The top 10 was completed by Sri Lanka (fourth place), Hong Kong (fifth), Bangladesh (sixth), Thailand (seventh), Vietnam (eighth), Malaysia (ninth), and Singapore (tenth).
Notably absent from both the lists is the US and the UK, with American men coming in at 59th place with an average length of 5.35 inches, narrowly beating the UK which finished in 66th place at 5.17 inches on average.
France narrowly missed out on a spot in the top 10, coming in at 11th with an average of 6.20 inches below the belt, while Australia appeared in 43rd place with an average of 5.69 inches.
And while the survey might have earned some people some bragging rights (and left others a bit disappointed) it's important to note that it was compiled from self-reported data.
This means there are many variables to how accurate those measurements actually are, from how they were taken to some participants potentially being a little bit more generous with their own sizings also a probability.
Ultimately, wherever you fall on the scale it's important to remember that you're likely completely normal and size isn't everything.

If you were to have asked the Greco-Roman empire, a small phallus was idealized, considered to be a symbol of intellect and high societal status. Now, however, the modern era is fixated on truncheon-esque penises as a sexual weapon, emblematic of ultimate masculinity. But does the length and girth of these venereal vehicles really matter?
While many, including a raft of healthcare professionals, insist it is merely an irrelevance, the reality is that plenty of men care about it, often comparing themselves to unrealistic expectations.
But according to Dr Karan Rajan, the truth is far less extreme than most would assume, and it might come as a relief to those concerned about the scale of their manhood.
Referencing a major 2014 study, he joked that some “rogue scientists had the balls to conduct a census” on penis size, producing results that challenge common myths. The research, carried out by a team at King's College London, measured around 15,000 men globally in an effort to create accurate size benchmarks and ease anxiety on this divisive topic.
Sharing the findings, he said: “The study revealed that the average length of a flaccid penis was 3.6 inches and the average length of an erect penis was 5.165 inches.”
For many, that figure is lower than expected, largely because of distorted perceptions. As Dr Rajan explained, “Societal expectations, warped by pornography, Hollywood, rumors and overzealous exaggeration, leave most men thinking the average penis is closer to something like 6 inches.”
He added: “Most men regrettably assume they are smaller than average and this distortion fuels a negative self-perception of the body.”
Separate data has even ranked average sizes globally, though experts stress that numbers alone don’t tell the full story. What people are often more curious about, however, is what’s considered “ideal.”
One study asked women to choose preferred sizes in two different scenarios, casual encounters and long-term relationships, and the results showed only slight differences. For one-night stand situations, the average preference was around 6.4 inches in length and 5.0 inches in girth, while long-term partners came in just below that at 6.3 inches and 4.8 inches, respectively.
Despite the headlines, experts are keen to stress there is no universal “perfect.”
Nicole Prause warned against labelling any size as ideal, saying: “Please don’t call any penis the perfect penis.”
She added that the research is more about understanding variation than setting a standard, noting: “Situational context matters,” and explaining that “What someone prefers for a one-night stand may differ from what they prefer in a long-term partner.”
Ultimately, while the numbers may grab attention, the takeaway is simple — averages are often lower than expected, preferences vary widely, and there’s no single definition of “perfect.”

You might think your friends are swinging well above average, but it turns out that perception couldn’t be more wrong.
For generations, men have quietly compared notes, guessed sizes in locker rooms, and let adult film actors set the bar for what’s “normal.” Unsurprisingly, that’s left a lot of guys feeling insecure for no reason at all.
But now, thanks to a global review and one doctor who isn’t shy about telling the hard truth, we’ve got the facts - and they’re bound to boost more than a few egos.
Dr Karan Rajan, the internet’s go-to medical myth-buster, says many guys have been misled for years. Citing a 2014 global penis size review, he revealed: “The study revealed that the average length of a flaccid penis was 3.6 inches and the average length of an erect penis was 5.165 inches.”
The study, led by a team from King's College London, measured 15,000 men worldwide and was aimed at tackling size-related anxiety with real science. “Societal expectations, warped by pornography, Hollywood, rumours and over zealous exaggeration, leave most men thinking the average penis is closer to something like 6 inches,” Dr Rajan explained.
He added, “Most men regrettably assume they are smaller than average and this distortion fuels a negative self perception of the body.”
And there you have it. If you’ve been comparing yourself to something out of a late-night streaming site, it’s time to let that go.
If you're wondering who topped the size charts, data collected by Data Pandas - a site that tracks all kinds of statistics - ranked the average sizes globally. Sudan took the lead with an average of 7.06 inches, followed closely by the Democratic Republic of Congo at 7.059 inches. Ecuador claimed third place with 6.9 inches.
But overall, the message is clear: forget the myths, ignore the screen fantasies, and stop obsessing. Science says you’re probably more average than you think - and that’s perfectly fine.
