Tattoos can be things of regret for many people. One man had glasses tattooed onto his face during a wild bachelor party and then had to spend two years trying to get them removed. Another saw one half of the yin-yang symbol he was getting on his arm transformed into an ungracious boob. And who can forget the guy from We're The Millers with "no ragrets" tattooed across his chest? Possibly the scariest tattoo fail of all happened to a Canadian woman whose eye-tattoo went drastically wrong, leaving her with damaged eyesight and forced to go back and forth to the hospital. Getting your eyes tattooed – or more specifically, getting the white part of the eye, the sclera, tattooed – is a practice that's totally feasible today. While it may be shocking to some, especially in light of disaster stories, scleral tattooing is something that some people are really into. The newest person in the eye-tattoo club is Karan Sidhu, who prefers to be known as Tattoographer Karan. Lucky for him, the procedure was successful, meaning he's now the first person to change the white of his eyes completely to black.

We're so used to seeing people with whites in their eyes, so it looks completely unnatural when his already dark eyes are completely blacked out. The 28-year-old had to hold his own eyes open while his eyeballs were injected with ink. He was offered numbing medicine before the procedure started, but decided against it like the madman he is. It's a painful procedure, and you need multiple sessions a few days apart to let the eyes rest. After he was finished, Karan's eyes were swollen for a week. He had to wear sunglasses to prevent any bright lights from causing further burning sensations to his already agitated eyes. "It was exhilarating and amazing," he said. "I feel this is the most elite thing one can do in body modification. I was amazed when I first saw myself in the mirror." "I’m still amazed when I see myself like this. It needs both courage and passion to do something like this. It’s not easy but not difficult either. You need to know what you want. It is all about looking and feeling different." The 28-year-old himself is working on covering his entire body with tattoos. Well, at least he's got the eyes over and done with. That two less body parts he's got to think about now.

Getting a tattoo for your eye is a very real possibility today. Scleral tattooing is the practice of tattooing the sclera, which is the white part of the eye. It's a pretty extreme practice and is relatively new to the scene I didn't know this until now, but I suppose in this day and age, I shouldn't have been surprised. The procedure is apparently something that you can get done, though for what reason I'm not altogether sure about. But one thing is for definite – you need to do your research before jumping into that situation. At least, that's what this woman is saying after her tattoo went drastically wrong. Catt Gallinger, a model from Ottowa, Canada, learned the dangers of the procedure the hard way after she lost sight in one eye as a result of the tattoo. Initially, she claimed she wanted the tattoo so she would "feel more at home in my body". She later called it a "massive mistake", and is warning others to be more careful than she was and to do the research into the possible dangers of such a procedure. "This was caused by undiluted ink, over injection, not enough/smaller injection sights," she explained in a post, which has now spread across the internet, "As it stands I will have to see a specialist and am at risk of being blind if it doesn't get corrected". As you can see from the photos, it looked as if she was crying purple tears as the residue escaped from her eye and ran down her face. "I have been to the hospital three times, I had no furry pets to cause any dander, and I wash my hands every time I do anything with my eye, both before and afterwards. "I was on antibiotic drops for the first week and a half and have been on steroid drops for four days now, with little success at bringing down the internal swelling. The external swelling lasted for almost a week." She then went on to make a plea to anyone out there considering the procedure to approach things differently than she did, as she now faces a long road to recovery. "There are multiple people who can attest that my aftercare was good and any other part of what I am saying. I am NOT sharing this with you to cause trouble, I am sharing this to warn you to research who you get your procedures by as well as how the procedure should be properly done." "Just please be cautious who you get your mods from and do your research. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else." She has since updated everyone to let them know that the pain and irritation has significantly reduced. Unfortunately, she has said that her eyesight hasn't improved, even though three weeks have gone by. It would be best if everyone takes Catt's warning to heart and avoid this kind of thing happening in the future.

A short while ago, news of a model who received a botched eye-tattoo made the headlines after the attempted body modification left her crying purple tears. Catt Gallinger from Ottowa, Canada, underwent a procedure to tattoo her sclera, which is the white part of the eye. Unfortunately, it went horribly wrong, and 24-year-old Gallinger lost the ability to see out of the tattooed eye. As eye tattoos are still relatively new, the artists doing them are still at risk of making mistakes. In this instance, it was the model's boyfriend who did the tattoo, and the damage was caused by "undiluted ink, over injection, not enough/smaller injection sights," Gallinger explained in a post. "As it stands I will have to see a specialist and am at risk of being blind if it doesn't get corrected". But now she realizes that her actions were a "massive mistake", and may have to take drastic steps to account for the damage. If it does rupture before, during or afterwards, I lose my eye," she said. After the surgery, she posted two pictures of her swollen eye and explained that it had not been entirely successful. The swelling has almost gone, the skin around her eye has returned to its usual color, and Gallinger herself looks fairly happy with life. It is likely that the model will have permanent vision damage, and it is evident that she regrets her decision, but at least the young woman will be able to keep both her eyes. If nothing else, her experience serves as a warning to others who are considering having a new procedure: make your choices carefully, and know the potential risks before going ahead with any kind of modification.  

In this vain, cosmetic surgery-obsessed world, more people are taking risks and modifying their body than ever before. For many, social media is largely to blame for this worrying trend, with the quest to be different and stand out from the crowd at the forefront of a lot of people's mind.

However, one model has found out just how perilous this quest for "Insta-fame" can be.

Nadinne Bruna, 32, underwent surgery in order to change her eye colour and has been left with the vision of a 90-year-old.

Wanting to change her eye colour from hazel to light grey, Nadinne ended up losing 80 percent of her vision in her right eye and 50 percent in her left eye.

The surgery is banned in the US, so Nadinne flew from Miami to Columbia in order to undergo the procedure. It cost her around $3,000 to have silicone implants inserted into her eyes, which was a discounted price that was offered due to the fact that she was set to post about the procedure on her social media platforms

However, shortly after having the surgery, the Argentinian model began experiencing some serious problems. She claims that her vision was constantly blurry as a result of the procedure and her eyes were left red and painful for months.

She returned to Colombia for two more procedures in order to repair the damage but was left having to have emergency sight-saving surgery in Los Angeles. As a result, Nadinne will now have to deal with the consequences for the rest of her life.

Nadinne said: "Before this surgery my eyes were completely healthy. I was so naïve.

"Ever since this surgery, I have had blurry vision. For about a year my eyes were constantly red and itchy.

"My pupils, they can’t adjust to light anymore so I’m very photosensitive now too.

"This surgery completely f***ed up my life.

"In September I was forced to go to hospital in Miami where the doctors said they had to remove the implants to save my sight because of chronic inflammation.

"In November I had emergency glaucoma surgery in both eyes.

"My vision damage is permanent, and I still have to have a cornea transplant and I have cataracts too."

Nadinne was unable to partake in photoshoots for her page and she says that the surgery has had a serious impact on her career.

"My sister became like my mom. She had to do everything for me," she said.

"After this surgery I went into a deep depression. I’m a very strong person, usually very brave and very smart, but with this I was completely stupid. I trusted the wrong person.

"Now I have the vision of a 90-year-old lady right but I’m hoping I can just keep my glaucoma under control."

Dr Eugenio Carbera, the man who carried out the initial surgery, said that he could not comment on individual cases and was unaware of Nadinne requiring any reparative procedures.

"Mrs Bruna was our patient. However, I do not know any type of treatments that have been carried out on later dates and the results or diagnoses of them.

"I can not comment and/or disclose information about patients’ cases or medical records."

Naddine has not taken any legal action against the practice due to the fact that she is not in a financial position to do so.

The model said: "It’s crazy, because even though I’ve been open about this surgery on Instagram, people are still are asking me where they can do it.

"But I don’t think surgeries are bad. I just didn’t know the risks and I made a mistake by not doing my research.

"Next month I’m going to have a surgery to reduce my boobs because I’ve lost a lot of weight this year and it’s something I have to do."

While Nadinne may continue to get surgery (even after the botched job), this story should serve as a reminder that you should never go under the knife unless you have 100 per cent confidence in the surgeon carrying out the procedure.

A man has been left red in the face after the internet collectively made fun of his new tattoo.

Now, getting a tattoo is a big life decision to make. In fact, I would say that it ranks up there with moving house or changing jobs, because it can really have a drastic impact on your life if you get it wrong. Case in point...

Twitter user Finn Faye Gentry saw an unfortunate example of this when their partner turned up with a new inking that was supposed to be a human eye, but instead, it looked like something else entirely.

Posting to their hundreds of followers, they showed off the tattoo alongside a caption that read: "Parker came home with this tattoo and is insisting it doesn’t look like a p**** guys please back me up that is [an] eyevagina."

Of course, the snapshot, which has racked up over 1.3 million views on the platform since it was posted on March 1, elicited some hilarious comments from other confused social media users.

"Like why would he get it facing vertical anyway like it makes it even worse," commented one user.

A second even called out the tattoo artist for doing a bad job, writing: "Okay but honestly [I don't know] who he went to but they did a horrible job as well. Not only does it look like a vagina, but they got the entire shape of the eyeball itself incorrect and the shading is incorrect. Someone may be able to fix this but WOW."

I don't want to pile on the hate... but they're not wrong, are they?

This person even claimed that they had to re-check all of their own tattoos after seeing this blunder.

Let's just hope Parker's up for wearing long-sleeved shirts until he manages to get that mess fixed because yikes.

Of course, this is far from the first regrettable tattoo to make its way onto the internet.

For example, this woman was left in tears after getting a blackout neck tattoo that she claims has completely changed the shape of her face.

The woman posted on her TikTok account (@spaceatmidnight) where she showed her followers her new ink, though it's clear she has some regrets.

Her upper cheeks, lower chin, and half of her neck are completely blacked out with fresh ink. "I’m having a whole entire identity crisis… because it slightly alters the shape of my face," she began while holding off tears.

Despite it seeming like a bizarre decision, she reveals that she had thought long and hard about getting the tattoo and that she even drew and painted it on herself to see if she liked it.

But that's where the problems began, as she would always draw it below her jawline whereas the tattoo artist inked it on slightly above.

"It’s on my actual face," the woman went on. "I feel like my face is smothering into my neck."

So, the next time you're thinking about going under the needle, make sure you've considered the consequences... and your tattoo artist's skillset.
