A wedding in the English countryside turned into an unforgettable moment for all the wrong reasons.

Andrew and Rebecca Fildes were exchanging vows in front of their loved ones in Bedfordshire in 2023 when Andrew made a slip of the tongue.

As the celebrant prompted the groom to say his vows, he began: “I take you, Rebecca Sarah Joan Qureshi…” But instead of completing the sentence with his bride’s name, Andrew said: “I take you, Sarah," which is his ex-girlfriend's name.

The room gasped, and laughter followed. Rebecca, however, didn’t storm off in a fit of anger, and instead, laughed it off, as did the guests and even Andrew himself.

The blunder was shared on Rebecca's TikTok page, which goes by the handle @scalesfeathersandfur, and had the cheeky caption: “Oh dear.”

The video amassed more than 30,000 views and sparked a divide in the comment section about how the bride handled the awkward moment.

Some viewers were sympathetic to the man's mistake, with one user writing: “To be fair, I think he just got HER names in the wrong order due to anxiety. He looks besotted with her. Congratulations.”

Others joked about the mistake, with a viewer referencing the infamous "Ross and Rachel" moment from Friends, writing: “Ross and Rachael… I mean Emily moment.”

A third shared: "Just a reminder, Princess Diana got Charles names in the wrong order at the altar. Things like this happens," while a fourth added: "Yeah he flubbed [her] name because he was nervous. His ex also being named Sarah has nothing to do with this, ppl saying they would walk out are crazy. Anyone can see how this mistake was made."

However, not everyone was as forgiving as one person declared: “Oh no, that’s awful. I would have been so upset.” Another remarked: “Run fast," while someone said: "nah I'd have walked."

"I wouldn't laugh to hear to name of his ex girlfriend.... I would cancel the wedding that's big red flag," one more commented.

Rebecca, who describes herself as “outgoing and sociable,” explained what happened during an interview with Newsweek.

“His ex-girlfriend’s name is Sarah, and so is one of my middle names,” she said. “I understood he was nervous and slipped up.”

The bride contrasted her personality with Andrew’s, calling him “more introverted and sensible".

Despite the slip-up, she took it in stride, saying that her now-husband "didn’t even realize he’d left ‘Rebecca’ out".

“I told him, and he said, ‘I’m so sorry, I was so nervous that I’d do something wrong.’ We laughed about it,” she added.

The couple wed on October 21, 2023, and aside from the unexpected name-drop, the ceremony went off without a hitch.

Now nearly two years into their marriage, Rebecca says they are still going strong. “We are still very much happily married and enjoy each other’s company,” she said.
