The actor describes California as his "second home", and on Friday he joined forces with disaster relief organizations Operation BBQ Relief and Wild Turkey Bourbon to publicize and help those risking their lives to help contain the blazes.
Since 2016, the actor has been the creative director of Wild Turkey Bourbon and became the face of its "With Thanks" campaign.
Pictured below are firemen tackling the blaze near the Getty Centre in Los Angeles:
"Teaming up with Operation BBQ Relief as part of the Wild Turkey 'With Thanks' has never been more meaningful," McConaughey, 49, said in a statement, People reported.
"Little did we know when planning this annual event that California, my second home, would once again be hit with devastating fires. Being able to provide meals to the men and women who put themselves on the line is an honor […] We are grateful to be here today to say thank you, shine a light on their unwavering conviction, and hopefully inspire others to get involved and help in their own communities."
Encouraging his fans to donate their money and time to the cause, the actor took to Instagram Live on Friday and introduced some of the volunteers who are working tirelessly to ensure that the first responders are well fed.
"Putting some food into bellies that are gonna need it," the star said. "That's what we're doing here."

Matthew McConaughey's son has recently shared a post on social media in honor of his father's 54th birthday.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Saturday, the actor's son Levi posted a heartfelt tribute to honor his father on the day.
"People know Matthew McConaughey as an Actor and now a writer, but I know him as my father," he wrote. "The man who always makes time for us no matter what, the man who’s always there for us no matter what, and the man [who] taught me to appreciate the journey and not just the destination.
"The journeys just getting started... Happy birthday Papai," he added.
Have a look at the post below:The 15-year-old also included a short carousel of photos, which included some personal family photos.
The first image showed the entire family, including Matthew, his wife Camila Alves, and all three of his children including Levi, Vida, 13, and Livingston, 10.
The second image was taken from what looks like a baseball game showing the young boy posing with his father, and both the third and fourth photos were also family photos, showing the family posing together.
Upon posting the birthday message, hundreds of fans took to the comments to commend the teen on his kind words for his dad.
"What a great tribute!", wrote one user while another added: "What a beautiful family. God bless."
A third also stated: "What an amazing family! It brings me a lot of joy to see the 'real' side of actors I love—their family, who they are when not acting. I always have said that your dad seems like the neighbor I wish I had," before concluding: "Such a good man, father, and husband. Happiest of birthdays!"
Others also took to the comments to wish the star happy birthday on his 54th.
It was reported that the Dallas Buyers Club actor celebrated the special occasion in his home state of Texas with a football match.
The event comes in a long list of celebratory things the family did over the weekend.
Matthew and his wife, 41, were spotted attending a party celebrating the launch of their new Pantalones Organic Tequila, before catching the Texas Longhorns beating the Kansas State Wildcats at the University of Texas in Austin.
In a clip shared on Twitter better known now as X, the 54-year-old was seen being gifted a birthday cake, and a bottle of his own tequila as gifts while he joined the hosts of Big Noon Kickoff at the game.
"It's not too early to start sipping this, is it?", he can be heard saying, joking with a crowd of fans who had gathered behind him outside.
"Here’s to 54," he added, before opening the bottle and taking a big ol' swig.
Then in a follow-up video shared to the platform, Matthew was seen joining the Longhorns on the pitch as they followed him in carrying out his infamous chest-beating salute from the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street ahead of kickoff time.
Well, it seems as though he had a great time - happy birthday Matthew McConaughey!

When someone turns 50-years-old, it's a big milestone. Living for half a century gives a person the opportunity to assess their life and the things that are important to them. It can also lead them to embrace aging gracefully and try new things; even celebrities aren't immune to this behavior.
Indeed, this week Academy-Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey has stunned his fans, as on Tuesday, November 5, he celebrated his 50th birthday by finally joining Instagram and uploading his inaugural post.

Despite the fact that he only has the one video to his name, he already boasts over half a million followers. In his first video ever, Matthew addresses the camera directly and tells his potential followers what kind of content they can expect from his page.
The actor states: "When people come to my page, I want them to see me. Look, this is my first venture into sharing myself and my views with the world and I’m a little bit nervous about it because quite frankly, I know I want to have a monologue…"
He continued: "I’m not quite sure I want to have the dialogue. But I know I have to have the dialogue, too […] So I’m looking forward to it, I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to sharing who I am with you, to seeing if who I am translates, if what I want to share translates…"
He added: "If it tickles your funny bone, if it makes you think a second, if it makes your heart swell up a little bit, if it makes you take a quiet moment and go for a walk… Let’s have some fun with it though."
McConaughey isn't the first actor to finally come to Instagram late. Last month, Jennifer Aniston shocked her fans by creating an account and posting a tribute to the 25th anniversary of Friends.

Matthew McConaughey has tickled a lot of pickles with a completely NSFW photo on Instagram to celebrate National Pickle Day. Excuse me while I attempt to tear my eyes away...
According to National Day Calendar, November 14 (AKA National Pickle Day) is a day to recognize "the tart, sometimes sweet, and even spicy pickle.
"It may be a Dill, Gherkin, Cornichon, Brined, Kosher Dill, Polish, Hungarian, Lime, Bread and Butter, Swedish and Danish, or Kool-Aid Pickle. No matter your choice, eat them all day long."
Check out McConaughey discuss his love for the humble pickle:And although many of us are quick to discard them from our hamburgers, it would appear that the 53-year-old actor is such a fan of the versatile pickle, that he posted a throwback image of himself grabbing a jar of them out of the fridge while completely nude.
And, as expected, fans definitely relished in its glory.
Aside from the "alright, alright, alright" comments that McConaughey's posts are almost guaranteed to receive...
...many users took the opportunity to comment some lighthearted humor, with one person writing: "Yeah. This is how my husband gets the pickles out of the fridge. It's really the only way. I ain't complaining."
"Lotta women wishin they were soy sauce right about now [...]," another quipped, referring to the soy sauce bottle that appears situated near McConaughey's... ahem... groin area.
Another person chimed in with: "Who cropped this picture? I'm upset [...]"
"The longer the pickle stays in the jar, the sweeter it is, man," another comment read.
Though, McConaughey isn't a rookie pickler - oh no - as he paid homage to the delicious vegetable last year in a video that he shared on Twitter.
In the short clip - which has gone on to be viewed over 150,000 times - the Oscar winner can be heard saying that he was a "pickle expert" coming "to talk to you about pickles which I love so dearly."
He then holds up a "plump" and "firm" cucumber before saying that, after taking a bite: "It's all hat no cattle. It's all packaging no product. It has no identity. It is tasteless. All it does is take up room in our proverbial salads.
"But what happens when it gets older?" McConaughey continues. "Does it mature with age like a fine wine? Does it get better and become a pickle? Not as firm as it once was. Got a few more bumps on it... even shrunk," he adds.
The father-of-three then says he wants to see what it tastes like, smiling to the camera and saying: "Now we got the product behind the packaging! Now we've got identity, now we've got purpose because we're a pickle. Sour, sweet, dill... it commits. It's the pickle. And you do tickle my fancy."
Now all that's left to ask is how do you like your pickles? Let us know in the comments!

Thanksgiving is a time for people to come together and celebrate the good things they appreciate in life - be it friends, family, or simply a nice turkey dinner. Most often, folks choose to enjoy the holiday with their relatives, but it's not uncommon to spend the afternoon with close friends under certain circumstances.
Celebrating Thanksgiving with a complete stranger, however, is almost unheard of.
And yet, that's exactly what happened in 2016, when Wanda Dench accidentally sent a Thanksgiving dinner invitation to Jamal Hinton.
Hinton, just 17 at the time, let the woman know about her mistake, but was still cheeky enough to ask to join in anyway. And whaddya know, she said yes! Now, two years later, Dench and Hinton are welcoming in the holiday together for the third time in a row.
This is the original conversation that took place in 2016:
True to her word, Dench provided dinner for the teen (who she now calls her "honorary grandson"), and the pair became fast friends.

This year, Hinton posted on Twitter again to let the world know that he was still in touch with his "other grandma".

Back in 2016, after the first dinner, Hinton spoke to the media about the experience of meeting Dench.
"I'd never seen her before and she welcomed me into her home," he said. "That shows me how great of a person she is, I'm thankful for people like that."
And the pair spoke to the press again the year after.
"It was really nice having everybody here," Dench said of her 2017 Thanksgiving. "We got to laugh about last year and reminisce about how it all blew up on our phone and how I had to change my number. We had a laugh and a good time."
She continued: "The world is becoming a better place than it used to be. I'm loving it. I love that you don't have to know someone or know their background to be nice to them."

Everyone on Twitter who saw the original story was thrilled to see the two had managed to meet up again, with many people leaving comments wishing them both a happy Thanksgiving.

Hinton has promised to upload a video of himself and Dench to YouTube at some point today, so stay tuned if you want more details about their 2018 celebrations.

Dench has said before that Hinton has an open invitation to any and all Thanksgiving dinners she hosts in the future, so it looks like these two will be friends for life.
