As the investigation into the Super Bowl parade shooting continues, authorities have shed light on the likely motives behind the deadly incident.

As previously reported, the shooting unfolded at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, around 3:30PM on Wednesday, February 14, as detailed by Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves.

Despite the presence of more than 800 police officers, the three assailants managed to cause life-altering levels of devastation. The attack resulted in the loss of one life, with 22 others sustaining injuries.

Sky News reported that two of the three suspects in custody are juveniles, currently undergoing questioning regarding their alleged involvement in the shooting.

The police department is under a 24-hour window to either press charges or release them.

"We have subjects that are detained," Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves stated, per the New York Post. "We are working to determine the involvement of others, and it should be noted we have recovered several firearms... This incident is still a very active investigation."

Among the wounded individuals, there were nine children and the incident claimed the life of 43-year-old Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a devoted Chiefs fan, and mother of two. "She was the most wonderful, beautiful person," expressed Lisa Lopez, a longtime friend, to the Kansas City Star.

Graves emphasized that the Wednesday afternoon attack near Union Station in the city had no links to homegrown terrorism or violent extremism. "It appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire," she stated during a press conference on Thursday.

Graves expressed frustration at the turn of events, stating: "I'm angry at what happened today. The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment."

Amid the turmoil, civilians stepped up to assist law enforcement, with one individual even tackling a possible gunman before their arrest. Graves commended these acts of bravery, acknowledging the selflessness displayed during the crisis.

Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the relationship between the perpetrators and any potential connections to prior incidents in the area.

Chiefs star player Travis Kelce sharing his sorrow in a heartfelt message, saying: "I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected."

The Kansas City Chiefs organization also released a statement, condemning the "senseless act of violence" and extending condolences to the victims and their families. They reassured the safety of their players, staff, and families, while expressing gratitude to law enforcement and first responders for their swift response.

Our thoughts remain with those affected by this act of violence.
