Child's 911 call captures influencer's final moments after she got 5 million views accusing her husband of being a pedophile
A 911 call made by one of influencer Sara Gilson's children has revealed heartbreaking details about the final moments before the 43-year-old was killed at her Oklahoma home.
Gilson, a mother of two, was found dead alongside her estranged husband, Jeremiah "Shawn" Duffey, 48, at her home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, on Thursday.
Both had suffered gunshot wounds in what investigators say was a murder-suicide carried out by Duffey after he allegedly entered the property in violation of a protective order.
According to investigators, Duffey ignored a court order requiring him to stay away from Gilson, entered the home, shot her and then turned the gun on himself.
The released 911 audio, obtained by PEOPLE, sheds light on the horrifying moments leading up to the tragedy.
The emergency call was placed by a child who lived at the home at around 11:15PM, with Gilson reportedly heard "screaming and crying" in the background.
"I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background," the dispatcher told first responders while they were on their way to the property.
Emergency crews arrived at 11:18PM and found the bodies of the estranged couple.
The child who made the emergency call is believed to have witnessed at least part of the incident.
TikTok video went viral just weeks before her death
Just weeks before her death, Gilson had gone viral after posting a TikTok that referenced allegations against her estranged husband.
On July 11, she took part in the popular Netflix documentary trend, where users imagine themselves being interviewed for a future documentary. However, Gilson's post carried a serious message.
In the video, she wrote: "Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile."
She added in the caption: "I wish I was joking."
The clip quickly spread across TikTok, attracting more than 5 million views at the time, and becoming one of the last videos she shared.
Court records detail allegations against Duffey
Court records show Gilson sought an emergency protective order against Duffey after police contacted her following allegations involving a 15-year-old girl on a youth basketball team he coached.
Per court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the teenager's mother claimed another coach witnessed Duffey kissing and fondling her daughter before intervening immediately.
Owasso Police said the coach who witnessed the alleged assault while Duffey was alone with the minor "immediately intervened and reported it to the juvenile's parents."
The girl's mother also alleged her daughter later disclosed it was not the first time Duffey had acted inappropriately towards her.
Court files claim he sent messages inviting the teenager to his hotel room during a tournament and attempted to bribe her with cash "to keep her quiet."
The allegations had not been proven in court at the time of Duffey's death.
A protective order had ordered him to stay away
After the alleged incident, police said Duffey fled the scene. Officers contacted Gilson to explain what had happened and advised her on how to seek legal protection. She subsequently filed for a protective order and divorce.
In court documents obtained by The Oklahoman, Gilson alleged Duffey had a firearm, was threatening to take his own life and had "went on the run".
A judge later granted an emergency protective order requiring Duffey to leave the family home and remain at least 100 yards away from Gilson.
Records also show Gilson had previously filed two protective orders against Duffey in 2021, although both cases were dismissed after she did not appear at scheduled hearings.
Friends rally around Gilson's children
After Gilson's death, friends launched a GoFundMe campaign to support her two children.
"Last night, our beautiful friend, Sara, was tragically taken from us in an unimaginable act of violence. Her sudden and heartbreaking loss has left an entire community grieving, but the greatest loss is felt by her two precious children, who must now face life without their loving mother," the fundraiser states.
"Sara was an incredible mom. Her children were the center of her world, and everything she did was for them. She loved them fiercely, worked hard to provide for them, and dreamed of giving them the best life possible," they added.
Our thoughts continue to be with Gilson's family and loved ones.
