The woman who was allegedly stabbed more than 20 times by a former How I Met Your Mother actor has spoken out.
Nick Pasqual, 36, was found guilty on all counts in a California court on Friday (May 8), according to the Daily Mail.
His convictions include attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary with person present, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or child’s parent.
The victim was his ex-girlfriend, special effects makeup artist Allie Shehorn, who was left fighting for her life after Pasqual allegedly broke into her Sunland, Los Angeles home in May 2024 and stabbed her repeatedly.
Before the guilty verdict, Pasqual appeared in court in San Bernardino, California, where he waived his right to a speedy trial.
The hearing was attended by Shehorn, who told The Daily Mail in 2024 that she planned to attend every court appearance.
"I just hope that there's justice served," she said. "People should know that this shouldn't happen and he can't get away with it...I'll be at every court hearing, even if I don't have to be, just to show him that I'm still here."
The outlet reported that Shehorn was left with "vivid scarring" across her body, including major scars on her throat.
"Every day is different, and it's a struggle, and just dealing with the permanent damage is really hard. I can't go back completely to how I was," she shared.
Shehorn also revealed she suffered partial vision loss and had not regained full feeling in her hands following the attack.
Police said Pasqual allegedly broke into Shehorn’s home around 4:30AM and "proceeded to stab the victim multiple times".
At the time of the attack, Shehorn had already filed a restraining order against him.
Court documents reportedly alleged Pasqual previously hit her with a belt, broke down doors inside their home, and later raped and choked her in April 2024.
After the stabbing, Pasqual allegedly attempted to flee to Mexico before he was arrested near the US-Mexico border in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
A GoFundMe created for Shehorn said she had been "fighting for her life" following the attack.
Her roommate, Christine White, said she found Shehorn "bleeding out" inside the home.
"This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody. You don't think this is ever going to happen to you," White said. "I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened... that wasn't a pretty sight."
During the legal proceedings, Shehorn described the moment she tried to escape her ex-boyfriend inside the house.
"I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there's another lock on that door," she recalled.
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón previously described the incident as "a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence," per Metro.
"My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident," he said. "Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her."
"This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions," Gascón concluded.
