A recent photo that seemingly showed Jeffrey Epstein alive has stirred conspiracy theories, but it has now been debunked.
The image, which circulated widely online, appeared to depict the disgraced financier, who was found dead in his New York prison cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, walking in a group through Israel.
This fueled claims that he had faked his death and was living in hiding. However, authorities have now clarified that the photo was not authentic - it was artificially generated.
Picture Is AI-Generated
According to AFP, Google’s AI tools have confirmed that the photo was AI-generated.
Digital analysis revealed a SynthID watermark, indicating that much - if not all - of the picture was created or altered using Google’s AI technology.
In addition to this, a Gemini diamond watermark seen in the original photo verified that it was manipulated.
This watermark had been cropped out of the version surfacing on social media, which caused widespread confusion.
Lady Victoria Hervey's Claims Add Fuel to the Fire
Interestingly, even some well-known figures have embraced the idea that Epstein might still be alive.
Lady Victoria Hervey, the ex-girlfriend of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was among those who publicly questioned the official story.
Speaking about the Epstein files, which were made public as part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the 49-year-old claimed: “I don't even think Jeffrey Epstein's dead anymore, to be honest," per LBC.
Hervey, who was named 23 times in the Epstein files, referenced an unsubstantiated theory from a 4Chan user who claimed that Epstein’s body was switched out on the day of his death, and said the prison guard who was reportedly present at the time of Epstein’s death should be interviewed.
"I think, just, I'd seen one of those emails, one of the ones that ended up in the files, and I think that prison guard needs to be interviewed. The one that he said he saw the bodies being switched out," she told the host.
Epstein Files and the Release of Sensitive Information
The theories surrounding Epstein's death coincided with the release of a significant cache of documents.
In November 2025, President Donald Trump signed a bill into law that mandated the public release of millions of pages detailing the late man's criminal activities.
However, the release of these files left many people outraged as a large portion was heavily redacted, with several key names omitted or blacked out.
Democratic Representative Ro Khanna, who reviewed unredacted documents, publicly criticized the Justice Department for shielding the identities of certain individuals.
He has worked closely with Republican Congressman Thomas Massie to uncover the names of the six men who were previously concealed in the documents.
One of these names was Leslie Wexner, the billionaire former owner of Victoria’s Secret, who had close ties to Epstein. Wexner has been labeled a coconspirator by the FBI, though no charges were ever brought against him.
Another individual revealed was Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Emirati businessman and CEO of DP World, who is alleged to have sent a "torture video" to Epstein via email.
"Until tonight, no one knew who sent the torture video to Epstein. I went to DOJ, unredacted the email, and reverse searched the email to discover it was a Sultans. Our law requires VICTIM’s information to be redacted, not information of men who sent Epstein torture porn!" he said, per The Cradle.
The lawmakers also identified four other individuals: Nicola Caputo, Salvatore Nuara, Zurab Mikeladze, and Leonic Leonov, as reported by The Guardian.
