As we grow older, certain everyday tasks that we never used to think twice about become more and more difficult.
As our bodies become less reliable, things like opening a jar of pickles or watching the television at a reasonable volume don't come as easily as they did in our youth.
And certain tasks, such as going up and down the stairs in our own homes, can not only be difficult, but potentially very dangerous as well.
And the same goes for our furry friends too - and any pet owners out there who have been forced to carry their dogs or cats up the stairs will tell you that it quickly becomes tiresome.
Well, that was the exact scenario 31-year-old Sonya Karimi and her partner Zach Grate found themselves in - but instead of having one dog, they have four dogs!

The wonderful couple, from New Orleans, Louisiana, were lucky enough to adopt two elderly pugs - George, 13, and Bodhi, 10 - along with 10-year-old Boston terrier Sam. They also have another pug called Emery, who is much more spritely at four years old.
After Karimi noticed that her dogs were starting to climb the staircase in the house, they knew something had to be done. Bodhi especially found the stairs a struggle as she suffers from a torn knee ligament.

So, they got creative, and after three-months in lockdown, Karimi and Grate had built their dogs their own doggy stairlift - which is so much fun even youngster Emery enjoys a ride on it.

Sharing their DIY achievement to Facebook, Sonya wrote: "Loving our new Doggie-vator for our older rescues."

And just look how happy they are!
The stairlift features a gentle ramp that allows the dogs to easily access to the "stair box", which then slowly carries them up and down their stairs, thanks to the electric system.

Also, if you'd like to help out the family, Bhodi is currently in need of ACL surgery so she can keep up with her younger siblings and enjoy life to the fullest.
