Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has confirmed that he would be willing to run for President of the United States sometime in the future if there was enough demand for him.
The 48-year-old Jumanji star spoke about his political ambitions in a recent interview with USA Today.
Take a look at the USA Today interview with The Rock in the video below:In the interview, Johnson spoke about his upcoming NBC series Young Rock, which focuses on the former professional wrestler's life. The show also features a fictitious plotline where the former WWE wrestler launches a presidential run in the year 2032.
The Rock stated:
"I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted. Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer."
Johnson continued that the decision would ultimately be "up to the people," adding: "So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground."
On Twitter, a number of Johnson’s fans have since reacted to his statement.
For instance, one person wrote: "I’ve been backing @TheRock’s idea since he first joked about it. Ronald Reagan was [an] actor before he became president which was referenced in the movie trilogy back to the future. [sic]"
Someone else wrote: "I know this as fact. There would be no greater orator than Dwayne Johnson on a campaign trail. Hope he does run for President."
Another person commented: "@TheRock Please run for president, I for one would give you my vote."
And another fan added: "If the Rock ran for President I would vote for him. I bet he’d win too."
However, others were less than enamored by the idea. For instance, one Twitter user reacted to the news by writing:
"Hollywood, please stay in your lane of work, act in movies and etc. please do not involve yourself in politics unless you have a degree in politics or held [an] official position. We don’t want celebrities as president."
The Rock first opened up about the subject in a 2017 interview with GQ, in which he addressed the fan buzz around him potentially running for office one day.
Speaking to GQ, Johnson stated: "A year ago [2016] it started coming up more and more. There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think: 'Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.'"
In September, Johnson publicly endorsed incumbent POTUS Joe Biden in the 2020 US Presidential Elections.
In a video statement posted on his official YouTube channel, the Fast and the Furious star stated:
"As a registered Independent for years now with centrist ideologies, I do feel that Vice President Biden and Senator Harris are the best choice to lead our country, and I am endorsing them to become President, and Vice President, of our United States."

Dwayne Johnson has spoken yet again about possibly running for president, referring to the prospect as a "humbling honor".
In April, a poll found that at least 46 percent of people would support the 49-year-old wrestler-turned-actor if he ever ran for office, Newsweek reported.
Discussing the results of the poll in an interview with People, The Rock remarked: "When 46 percent of Americans say they're in favor of me becoming president, that forces me to humbly and respectfully stand up, listen, and learn."
He did, however, stress that he is "not a politician nor did I ever have political passions, and quite frankly I'm not sure I even have the patience or resignation to deal with the B.S. that comes with politics and politicians."
Johnson initially responded to the April poll on Instagram, referring to the confidence that the American people have in him as "humbling".
In a post shared with his 246 million followers, he wrote: "Humbling. I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club - but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people."
Back in 2016, the Moana star told GQ magazine that the "thought of being president is alluring".
He said: "I'll be honest, I haven't ruled politics out. I'm not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can't deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring.
"And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people's lives on a global scale. But there are a lot of other things I want to do first."
The following year, The Rock said during an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show that he was "seriously considering" running for president.
The year after that, Johnson was questioned once more about potentially running the country one day as he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
He told Colbert that before he would consider launching a presidential bid, he would need to "get some experience and understand policy".

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has responded to a new poll showing mass support for him running for President of the United States.
In a post made on his official Instagram account, the 48-year-old former WWE wrestler and actor shared an image of a recent poll from Piplsay, which found that 48% of Americans surveyed supported his making a bid for the Oval Office sometime in the future.
In a caption addressed to his 228 million followers on the platform, the Jumanji star wrote:
"Humbling [...] I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack-wearing guy joining their club.
"But if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people. [sic]"
Additionally, over the weekend, the Hobbs & Shaw star spoke with Willie Geist on Sunday Today about the division in the US.
When Geist questioned Johnson about whether or not politics is something he's be interested in pursuing, the former champion replied: "So, I do have that goal to unite our country and I also feel that if this is what the people want, then I will do that.
"I am passionate that our country is united. A united country, as we know, it when it’s at its strongest and I want to see that for our country."
Suffice it to say, The Rock's Instagram post accrued plenty of attention from his many fans and followers, and it currently boasts over 5.7 million reactions and over 92,000 comments from other Instagram users as of the time of writing.
For instance, actor D.C. Young Fly wrote: "We believe in you champ. [sic]"
Meanwhile, NBA basketball player Dwayne Wade wrote: "I can see The White House party's now. [sic]"
And former professional basketball played Carlos Boozer chimed in: "I'd definitely vote for you OG. [sic]"
Finally, Captain America actor Chris Evans wrote: "Have you thought about a running mate?? :) [sic]"
Of course, this is far from the first time that The Rock has opened up about his political ambitions. He first addressed the fan buzz around him potentially running for office in a 2017 interview with GQ, stating:
"A year ago [2016] it started coming up more and more.
"There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think: 'Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.'"
In a February 2021 interview with USA Today, he later clarified: "I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted. Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer."
