We all make mistakes in life. It's part of the parcel of being human, but sometimes certain mistakes a publicized for the world to see.
Cast in point, the very awkward moment Jason Bateman was mistakenly announced as the wrong Emmys winner.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2020 aired in the US yesterday and the event appeared to be going without a hitch, with the voiceover announcing Jason as the winner of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role in HBO's The Outsider.
Ron Cephas Jones' image then appeared to show the actor collecting the award for his role in the hit series This Is Us.

Ron was the true winner and FXX issued the following apology message on-screen: "Our apologies, an incorrect winner has been announced. We’re fixing it now."

As per the Metro, a spokesperson for the event told The Wrap that it was simply an "editing issue". "They announced the correct winner and it was the correct slate, but the voiceover was incorrect."
Needless to say, people had a lot say about the mistake on social media, especially after Lala Land was mistakenly announced as the Best Picture winner in 2017 when it was actually Moonlight.
One viewer tweeted: "Jason Bateman or Ron Cephas Jones??? WTFFFF @TelevisionAcad !!!!!???"

A second wrote: "I can't believe it's taking the Television Academy this long to clear up whether Ron Cephas Jones or Jason Bateman won. It didn't take the Oscars this long to clear up the Moonlight/La La Land mixup."

A third added: "Okay so at the Creative Arts #Emmys the guest actor in a drama was announced to be Jason Bateman but the card said Ron Cephas Jones won. Having Moonlight/La La Land flashbacks…"

Meanwhile, a fourth summed up the confusion caused by the blunder by writing: "WHAT JUST HAPPENED @TheEmmys ?! Who won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series? The screen showed Ron Cephas Jones but the announcer said Jason Bateman…and then the screen cut to a quiz question?! Honestly, you HAVE to pull it together."
