Newly unsealed court documents in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial allege that the Aquaman star told her sister, Whitney Henriquez, she did cut off Johnny Depp's finger with a bottle.

Depp's finger injury in March 2015 is just one of many violent incidents from the celebrity exes' marriage that has come to light in the courtroom, where Depp is suing Heard over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed to have suffered domestic abuse.

One of the key points of contention for both parties is the violent argument they had in March 2015 while on a trip to Australia, when Heard visited her then-husband on the set of the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

According to court documents filed by Heard's legal team, Depp cut his own finger off when he slammed "a hard plastic phone against the wall", Insider reports.

However, during his testimony last week Depp refuted this version of events, claiming that it was his ex-wife who severed the top of his middle right finger by throwing a glass vodka bottle at him.

Now, The New York Post is reporting that Jennifer Howell, Henriquez's former boss at LA-based non-profit The Art of Elysium, testified in a pre-trial deposition that Heard had said she was the one who severed Depp's finger. Howell says that Heard had told Henriquez this, who in turn told Howell.

"She just screamed, ‘She’s done it now. She’s cut off his Goddamn finger,’ and made this huge proclamation,” Howell said Henriquez told her.

"And I pushed my chair back. I was like, ‘What?’ And she goes, ‘She cut off his finger. She cut off his finger.’ And then she bolted out the door and was like, ‘I got to call somebody. I got to call somebody,'” Howell continued.

For the sake of clarity, Depp's attorney Camille Vasquez asked Howell if Henriquez revealed to her who "she" and "he" were in her statement.

“It was Amber and Johnny,” Howell said. “And she apparently had thrown a bottle and cut off his finger, is what (Henriquez) reported when she came back in from whoever she talked to outside.”

Some of Howell’s deposition was played to the jury, but her testimony regarding the finger incident had not been included.
