Britney Spears' new fiancé, Sam Asghari, has responded to fans telling her to get a prenuptial agreement following their engagement announcement.
The couple announced their happy news on social media last night - both taking to their respective Instagram accounts in the hope of delighting their fans.
Britney, 39, shared a short but sweet video of the couple with her 34 million followers, showing her proudly flashing her huge diamond ring and giving fiancé Sam Asghari a peck on the cheek. The 'Stronger' singer captioned her post: "I can’t f***ing believe it."
Meanwhile, 27-year-old actor and fitness trainer Asghari shared a photo of the couple with his followers, with Britney prominently displaying the ring on her finger:
And despite the fact many of the chart topper's fans shared their congratulations, the post was also inundated with repeated requests for Britney to make sure she got Asghari to sign a prenup.
The comments were led by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, who bluntly commented: "Make him sign a prenup."
And the comments just continued to roll in:
Well, it would seem that Asghari has received the message loud and clear (not that he could miss it), as he has taken to social media to respond to the "advice".
Posting to his Instagram Stories, 27-year-old Asghari wrote to his two million followers: "That you to everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we're getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection [in case] she dumps me one day".
The actor added a few laughing emojis to get over the light-heartedness of the post.
As reported by TMZ, Spears did sign a prenup with ex-husband Kevin Federline, whom she was married from October 6, 2004, to July 30, 2007.
Federline and Spears had been dating for three months before getting engaged, just months later.
Fortunately, that is not the case with her current fiancé, as the singer has been with Asghari since the pair met back in October of 2016 on the set of her music video for 'Slumber Party', Us Weekly reports.
News of the couple's engagement comes nearly a week after Jamie Spears, Britney's father, formally filed to end the 13-year conservatorship that has seen him oversee his daughter's life and finances.
As reported by NBC News, the 69-year-old's petition to the Los Angeles County Superior Court stated that his daughter "is entitled to have this Court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required."
Back in July, the 'Lucky' singer spoke out againsther father's control in a damning statement to Judge Brenda Penny.
"This conservatorship is literally allowing my dad to rule my life… that is abuse, and we all know it. I’m angry, and I will go there," she told Judge Penny.
Britney's outspoken Instagram posts, combined with the eye-opening 2021 documentary Framing Britney Spears, led to the '#FreeBritney' movement on social media, in which fans would use the hashtag to repeatedly call for the conservatorship to come to an end.
Mr Spears' petition adds: "If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance."
