Octavia Spencer left a warning for Britney Spears shortly before the star married Sam Asghari and it now holds more weight than ever.
As previously reported, the marriage between Asghari and Spears has come to an end, just over a year after their wedding.
The personal trainer reportedly filed for divorce from the pop sensation, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the primary reason for their separation. Speculations about infidelity during their marriage have also surfaced, according to the Guardian.
Insiders disclosed to TMZ that the writing was on the wall, as a source revealed: "It's only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce," shortly after rumors began circulating about their split. Multiple sources have confirmed that Asghari initiated the divorce proceedings late on Wednesday and he also spoke out about the split.
Neal Hersh, Asghari’s lawyer, also suggested that he could contest their prenup as the court documents reportedly read: "[He] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.
"There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Asghari] at this time," they continued.
It comes shortly after another source told Page Six that the 29-year-old apparently wants to renegotiate their prenup in exchange for keeping the singer's "secrets."
The source said: "[He is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.
"So that’s what Sam is focused on," they added.
It would seem as if actress Octavia Spencer saw this coming during the start of the marriage between Spears and Asghari as she offered a stern warning at the time.
Underneath an Instagram post from Spears announcing their engagement, Spencer wrote: "Make him sign a prenup," before quickly deleted her comment, but not before hundreds of fans had seen it.
The actress evidently regretted her remark, as she took to her own profile to offer an apology.
She said: "Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke. My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain.
"I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of. Britney’s fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she’s found happiness. We’re thrilled for her. So let’s show them love."
During an interview in 2017, Spears reminisced about their initial encounter, sharing: "I was like, 'He was really cute, this guy was really cute,' so I called him. He's just a really fun, funny person." Their relationship blossomed from there, ultimately leading to their marriage in June 2022.
Hopefully, the pair can end things amicably!
