Brooklyn Beckham's wedding DJ has revealed the "truth" behind the "inappropriate" Victoria act.
The 26-year-old's social media post caused a stir, as he accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of causing significant distress in his life, particularly surrounding his wedding to actress Nicola Peltz in April 2022.
In a candid statement, Brooklyn described how he felt "humiliated" and "uncomfortable" during his wedding after his mother, Victoria, allegedly "hijacked" his first dance with Nicola and danced "inappropriately" in front of their guests.
Brooklyn’s explosive rant revealed a series of accusations, including claims that his mom backed out of designing Nicola's wedding dress at the last minute, leaving the bride to find an alternative.
He also claimed that family members told him the night before the wedding that Nicola was "not blood" and "not family," and that his father, David, had only agreed to meet with him under the condition that Nicola would not be present.
"The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared," he wrote.
"I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family," Brooklyn added
DJ Fat Tony Reveals the Truth Behind the First Dance
DJ Fat Tony, a close friend of the Beckhams, appeared on This Morning to clarify what happened during the much-discussed first dance at the wedding.
He explained that the awkwardness began when Marc Anthony, who was performing at the wedding, called Brooklyn to the stage for what was supposed to be his romantic dance with Nicola.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Marc Anthony invited Victoria onto the stage instead. “The word inappropriate - I said it was inappropriate because it was the timing,” he explained. “Marc Anthony then said, ‘Put your hands on your mother’s hips!’ It was a Latin thing, and that whole situation was awkward for everyone in the room.”
He continued, “Brooklyn was devastated, and Nicola left the room crying her eyes out.”
Fat Tony also revealed that the awkwardness lingered the following day during the wedding brunch, which became an uncomfortable discussion point.
“When the bride and groom leave their wedding devastated, word trickles out,” he said. “Not many people turned up for the brunch, but everyone was talking about it, and how sad that part of it was...But Victoria was thrown into that situation, and I think too much has been read into it… in the sense of too many stories being added to it."
Despite the focus on the dance, the DJ emphasized that the moment was just a small part of a larger issue within the Beckham family.
“I think what we’re all missing here is the fact that parents have lost their child, and a son has lost his parents,” Fat Tony added.
The Beckham Family’s Public Responses
Despite the fiery nature of Brooklyn’s statements, Victoria has remained largely silent.
She recently posted celebratory messages for her fellow Spice Girl, Emma Bunton, on social media, but has not directly addressed the family controversy.
Meanwhile, David appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box to discuss the challenges of parenting in the public eye and the importance of allowing children to make their own mistakes.
“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media . . . For the good and for the bad,” he said. “What kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons."
“I’ve been able to use my platform for my following, for UNICEF. And it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children. And I have tried to do the same with my children, to educate them.“
They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids.” The football legend added: “You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
