It really is amazing when a child grows up to look just like their parents. Of course, there's no way to ever predict whether or not a child will look similar to their mom or dad, and some kids end up looking like neither of them.

But when you're the direct progeny of two famous celebrities, who are both instantly recognizable, then it seriously increases your chances of being recognized yourself.

Check out this video Kate posted showing off her incredible flexibility:

Case in point: this week fans of Kate Beckinsale have noticed an uncanny resemblance between her and her daughter Lily, after she took to Instagram to send her girl some heartfelt birthday wishes.

Posting a tasteful black-and-white picture of her now 21-year-old daughter, Beckinsale wrote: "Happy 21st birthday, you amazing fairy person. I love you my Lily, and your smaller than the rain hands. Happy birthday, funniest, best, most brilliant angel face ❤️ ps please feel free to finally try a sip of alcohol for the first time. [sic]"

Kate gave birth to her daughter in London way back in 1999, and Welsh actor Michael Sheen was the baby's father. The two performers met in 1995 during a touring production of The Seagull, and soon fell in love, although they never married and their relationship fell apart in 2003.  She later married director Len Wiseman on the set of the movie Underworld, but the couple broke up in 2018.

Despite the fact that she said her daughter could have a sip of drink now that she was of age, the actress has previously disclosed that she lives a sober life herself.

In an interview with Women's Health last month, Beckinsale stated: "I think some people's systems are just a bit sensitive to things. If you told me you had nausea yesterday, I might start throwing up myself. If I ate too much dark chocolate, it would be like someone else taking cocaine."
