Dustin Diamond has been diagnosed with stage four cancer, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Diamond, 44, is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Florida.
Per EW, a rep for the Saved by the Bell actor has said that he will release a statement once the formal diagnosis has been made. However, he has confirmed it is "serious" and at stage four.
While he is being treated, the Screech Powers actor will stay at the Florida hospital and will continue to be there "for a while."
"He's undergoing chemo so he will be there at least another week and then we will figure out when he gets to come home," his rep explains. "By next week, we'll have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and what treatments he will need so that he's comfortable."
He went on to say that Diamond is feeling "fine" today whereas he was not feeling the best when he was first admitted to the hospital. "He was fading in and out, feeling sleepy and tired. On top of all this, he also has shingles, so he's been in a lot of pain."
A different rep for the actor told EW that it began with "a huge lump on his throat."
Diamond is best known for his portrayal of Bayside's resident geek on the hit 90s sitcom Saved by the Bell.
Best friends with the show's protagonist Zack Morris (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and in love with the fashion-obsessed Lisa Turtle (played by Lark Voorhies), the show follows the socially awkward character as he navigates his way through high school and later college in Saved by the Bell: The College Years.
Take a look at the trailer for the recent reboot of Saved by the Bell:Diamond is not, however, in the recent revival series in which a number of the original cast members have appeared.
The show explains Screech's absence by explaining that he is living "on the International Space Station" with his robot Kevin.
While the reboot has not yet been picked up for a second season, Diamond's reps have previously informed EW that he had been in talks to make a return as Zack Morris' sidekick. "They've been talking, so we're keeping our fingers crossed."
