Tom Cruise has reportedly lost thousands of dollars worth of luggage after thieves stole his bodyguard's $135,000 BMW.

The actor, 59, suffered the loss while in England filming scenes for Mission: Impossible 7 on Tuesday, August 24, The Sun reports, and was allegedly "hopping mad" when he discovered how the theft had taken place.

The car was stolen from outside a Birmingham hotel when crafty thieves cloned the car's keyless ignition fob, which allowed it to be stolen without any of Cruise's security team realizing it.

He had been pictured earlier on Tuesday filming scenes for the new Mission Impossible movie inside a Birmingham shopping mall with actress Hayley Atwell, 39.

A source told The Sun: "Tom had been driven around in the car while in Birmingham and some of his luggage and belongings were inside it when it was taken.

"It's since been recovered by police because it was equipped with an electronic tracking device but everything inside it had gone.

Meanwhile, another source added: "It's a huge embarrassment for the security team and the guy who had been driving it was hopping mad - but not as mad as Tom!"

According to sources, the black BMW was stolen in just minutes, and the theft was noticed by a member of Cruise's security team on Tuesday morning.

Police have now released a statement about the theft, per Metro, that reads: "We received a report of a BMW X7 stolen from Church Street, Birmingham in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"The car was recovered a short time later in Smethwick. CCTV inquiries have been made in the area that the car was recovered from. Inquiries are ongoing."

The Sun reports that the BMW was not parked in a secure barrier-protected car park eight minutes from the hotel which guests are advised to use.

The BMW was being used to drive Cruise around as he shot his scenes in Birmingham, however, has also been pictured using a helicopter to travel to a Kent mansion where has been staying - with the car on standby at this time.
