A terrifying simulation shows what would happen to your body if you found yourself being swallowed by a whale.

There are quite a few horrific ways to die in this world, but being swallowed by a whale isn't one I often consider.

The ocean is already scary at the best of times, but being swallowed whole definitely takes things up a notch.

Sperm whales, typically found in deep waters across the globe, from the equator to the polar regions, are not exactly creatures you'd expect to encounter while swimming.

However, a recent simulation shared by Zackdfilms shows just how grim such an encounter would be if one were to end up inside one of these ocean giants.

The video presents a detailed simulation of what would happen if you were swallowed whole by a sperm whale.

The narrator paints a grim picture, explaining: “If you were swallowed by a sperm whale, you would be squeezed down its massive throat. You’d continue down its esophagus and into a series of stomach chambers that are filled with digestive acids.”

Using a dummy with a permanently screaming face, the simulation highlights the grim fate that awaits inside the whale.

The narrator goes on to say: “These acids would immediately start breaking down your body. But even if you managed to avoid the acid, the lack of air inside the whale would quickly cause you to suffocate.”

Naturally, people had a lot to say about the simulation.

"It would also be completely pitch black, which makes it even scarier," one person wrote, as a second added: "Claustrophobia would kill me by the time I go through the esophagus."

A third person added: "New fear unlocked: Sperm whales," while a fourth said: "Honestly the thought of that happening in and of itself is just terrifying."

While the chances of being swallowed by a sperm whale are extremely slim, the video has clearly struck a chord with many.

Some may even question how the biblical figure Jonah managed to survive such an ordeal.

While it isn't a sperm whale, humpback whales are also massive but National Geographic has outlined that it's impossible for them to swallow a human.

The story was prompted by a report that Michael Packard, a lobster diver from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, was swallowed by a humpback.

Luckily it spat him out after 30 seconds, with National Geographic noting: "A humpback’s throat is roughly the size of a human fist, and can only stretch to about 15 inches in diameter to accommodate a bigger meal."

So it'll spit out anything bigger, like a person.

Even with this, being in a whales mouth isn't high on my to-do list.
