They say that revenge is a dish best served cold, but nowadays it seems that it's best served remotely, in large helpings, on the social media platform of your choice.

Case in point: this week a woman who was subjected to a torrent of vicious and misogynistic abuse, from a man whom she'd politely rejected on a dating app, had her sweet revenge when she posted those same comments on social media, and got him fired as a result.

According to a report by The Sun, the trouble started when 26-year-old Sydney native Ebonie Sanderson matched with a man named Thomas McGuirk on Tinder.

McGuirk began demanding that Ebonie meet him that very night, and when she declined, things suddenly got very nasty. McGuirk launched into a sexist verbal tirade, calling Ebonie a "disgusting fat pig", among other insults too profane to print.

Warning: the following recording contains language some readers may find offensive:

However, Ebonie got her own back on him when she shared audio clips of McGuirk on Instagram and warned other women to stay clear of him. She captioned the audio clips:

"This is what happens when you say NO or call out a man for being disrespectful!!! You apparently earn yourself the right to get verbally abused and fat-shamed on more than one platform. [sic]"

"No I didn’t ‘ask for it’ and yes, I’m entitled to change my mind and tell someone I’m not interested anymore because I feel uncomfortable and intimidated by ones aggressive and forceful nature [sic].

“The worst part about this attack, is the fact that I felt the need to be nice when turning him down, telling him he’s good looking and will find someone else for the night and then apologizing for feeling uncomfortable!!!! THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM [sic]."

Speaking to News.com.au in a later interview, Ebonie stated:

"I never ever imagined my post would be seen and heard by this many people, but there has been an overwhelming amount of girls come forward and share their awful experiences with this man."

She continued:

"The truth is, this happens more than we think. So many women resonated with this kind of sexist, abusive behaviour and it was really sad to discover just how real it is.

"I also think us women often cater for this behavior far too often, we’re so polite and let disrespectful men treat us this way without any consequences."

As a result, McGuirk was fired from his job at Invenco Pty Ltd, and CEO Dave Scott wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday night:

"I was shocked and disgusted to hear the disrespect and entitlement towards women appear in the recordings and messages attached to the Instagram post. I strongly reject any behavior of this kind, at any time, in any place, for any reason. There is no excuse that makes this ok – ever. [sic]"

Per The Sun, McGuirk has also been blocked from using Tinder as a result of his behavior.
