A woman has taken to social media to share the embarrassing moment she was dress-coded at a restaurant.

The TikToker - who goes by the handle @slayraslaye on the platform - explained in a short clip that staff at the upscale eatery had been so offended by her outfit that they made her cover up with a scarf.

Worst of all, it wasn't her scarf they made her put on - but instead one that belonged to the restaurant.

In the video, the 23-year-old can be seen furtively filming herself as she sits at the table. A scarf is draped around her shoulders, and she peels it back to allow a quick peek at the outfit she had arrived in - a low-cut green crop top and trousers.

"When you get dresscoded at an upscale restaurant," she wrote in overlay text on the video, which she shared with an accompanying soundtrack of a female voice singing: "Here comes the w****".

In the caption, she further explained where the scarf had come from. "Yes this scarf belongs to the restaurant…I didn’t know these were the vibes," she wrote.

The clip - which has racked up over 715,000 views - divided viewers. Many people leapt to the TikToker's defence, taking to the comments section to express their outrage.

"This enrages me," one wrote, adding: "Sorry angel you look UNREAL." Another agreed, commenting: "Mortifying. You did not deserve that and the outfit is FINE."

"The thing is if you were flat chested they 100% wouldn’t have had a problem. big-chested women are constantly being objectified it’s so gross," a third pointed out, while a fourth chimed in: "People are too comfortable policing women's bodies."

However, others sided with the restaurant, arguing that they had the right to dress code diners if they were not wearing "appropriate" clothing.

"Why is everybody so uninformed and mad about this. Dress codes are used in high-class restaurants to keep a certain level of prestige and class," one person commented.

"Why is everybody so upset about a dresscode? If I go to a fancy restaurant I wouldn’t want the other guest look like they’re at the club," another wrote.

"You look gorgeous but no formal restaurant would allow that top," added a third.
